One week after the encounter, I developed a sore throat with white spots on the back of my throat and tonsils. I ran a slight fever, and my throat became swollen for the next couple of days. I seen two different doctors during this viral infection and both called it a case of pharyngitis and I was given some steroids to help with the inflammation. The infection completely cleared in one week. My question is if I could have contracted oral herpes from the girl?
He tested me for strep and found that it was not that, and my lymph nodes are not swollen for it to be mono. He said it was a viral infection that should last about three to four days. Anyway, the next day, I performed oral sex on my boyfriend. The day after that, I realized the infection had gotten even worse (at least to me). Could this have exacerbated the problem? Also, could this be something serious for me? Thank you all!

How are you? Most cases of sore throat can indeed be due to a viral infection, such as part of flu or colds. With rest and plenty of fluids, this usually subsides within a week. Recurrent sore throat, on the other hand, can be due to allergic reaction, irritation, smoking or from infectious mononucleosisis. Infectious mononucleosis or kissing disease, is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It presents with fever, sore throat and fatigue.Check with your doctor for proper evaluation.
Hi, I had a bacterial throat infection: including sore throat, fever, headache and body aches.....This was before x-mas, I was given Augmentin, which pretty much cleared it up, except my cough and congestion.... After x-mas The cough got worse and fevers, tongue ulcers and head and body aches came again, my Dr. said this time it's viral, so it would have run its coarse, it's been almost a month and still hasn't cleared up at all.
It appears in the alternate days, one day after the other. Around 5 days later I noticed a burning sensation on the tip of my penis accompanied by a sore throat with a bump inside my mouth. The sore throat and bump in my mouth went away after a couple days, but the burning on my tip spread to burning and itching on my penis and testicles as well as burning and itching on my lips. Everything subsided about 10-12 days later. I tested negative for herpes 1 and 2 at 6 months after exposure and negative for HIV at 5 months after exposure.
Could someone please tell me the first symptoms that someone would experience with a primary infection of Hsv1 in the gentile area. Will sore throat, body weakness and sweating all over be a symptom or does this sound more like a viral infection. It's only been 8days since oral sex, with no gentiles symptoms yet, just the symptoms I stated above.

Could you expand more on the difference between bacterial sore throat and viral sore throat? and what are the type of sore throat feelings with people during HIV window period and end up HIV+?
The antibiotic had a minimum effect on my sore throat as it did act up recently. In the last few days, it hurts swallowing saliva. And during the last 3 weeks, the sore throat is present, not extremely hurtful but with enlarged glands.
Lastly, what are the night sweats people experience with HIV+?
Just as an update. My sore throat lasted about 2 weeks before it stopped hurting. The area in my throat was so specific that I think it had to have been an ulcer. I have lost some significant weight (30lbs) because I have developed a very sensitive gag reflex from that area in my throat and swallowing has become kind of disgusting because I can feel the food so well over that area. I did develop some thrush but I was on Amoxicillin for 10 days which can easily bring about thrush.
that it was viral and follow up with pcp,and take motrin for the pain. We have been taking motrin and sudafed , with no relief. I am frustated that I have spent so much money, missed work and my son missing school over this. These doctors could be a little more open minded, and listen to the mother . We do know our children.

Do you think it was actually an igg test? I did not have lesions in the groin but continue to have sore throat and enlarged tonsils for 4 months after encounter. I had an hiv test at 6 weeks through health department that consisted of viral load and antibody. It was negative. Also gonorrhea and syphillis test were negative. I did have 4 lesions on groin and two of them were viral warts and two were skin tags. The two that were warts were not identified as condyloma.

Chronic sore throats can be allergic, viral or bacterial in origin. Streptoccocal infection is the most common bacterial infection and can cause nasal symptoms too. Common allergens causing these symptoms are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander. High eosinophil counts too can cause these symptoms. Viral flu, infectious mononucleosis etc can cause these problems.
A comprehensive investigation including CBC, throat swab, allergic tests etc is required keeping all the points in mind.

I saw a doctor and he said it had minor irritation and was a viral sore throat and took a culture, and prescribe an antihistamine and a nasal spray for night time, the severity is the most in am upon waking. I have been a hypochondriac and hope that these symptoms are stress and travel related because i traveled out of the country the week prior as well. All people that i trqaveled with had a simliar sore throat but theres subsided after a couple days.
