sore throat and lupus

Yesterday the glands under my chin (on each side of my throat) have swollen up. The right one is bigger. and my throat is very sore. Is this a problem with lupus or is it just something like allergies. I wouldn't even be wondering about it, but I haven't even been sneezing so far this year with the pollen (very unusual). Just wondering.

Yes, I do get sore throats as part of my fibro symptoms, however, I also have lupus and sore throats can go along with that also, so for me, it's sometimes difficult to determined which one is causing the problem! And yes, lack of sleep most definitely can/will aggravate fibro symptoms. It's a vicious cycle - we're not sleeping well because we are hurting and we hurt more because we are not sleeping well. UGH! Do you take any type of sleep aid to help you sleep?

Last time my throat swelled up both of my sides felt sore to the touch (or when coughing) just like my throat. For the last week I have been having a rash on both arms. It itches (more at night and in the sun, or after a warm shower) and looks like little pen pricks (red). I have also had high blood pressure every time I have gone into the drs office since the first visit for shingles. High stage 1 hypertension.

Hi Karen, I hope you get this b/4 your appt. I'm not sure, but I think that hair falling out is not associated w/ Sjogren's. But it is associated w/ lupus. I have lupus and dry eyes. My Ear/Nose/Throat Dr. thinks I have Sjogren's too, but w/o an elevated sed rate the bioopsy would probably not be positive. He said we needed to do a wait and see approach on the Sjogren's. He had a patient they suspected had Sj. They did a biopsy, which was neg.

Your sed rate or (ESR) can be high with any cause of inflammation such as Rheumatoid arthritis, anemia, lupus, pregnancy, etc. Do you have a sore throat? Have you had your throat checked for a strep infection? You could also perhaps have mono if you had a sore throat, swollen glands and high fever, fatigue etc. A lot of things will cause high ESR and swollen glands. What other symptoms do you have?

I keep begging doctors to check me for whatever they can, and they just blow me off. Today, for instance, my glands are huge, my throat is sore and I'm really achy and feel like ****. Strange symptoms of on/off (for about 2 days at a time) include left sided tongue pain, left sided sore throat and left sided lymph node tenderness. I was trying to research about what it could be and I read that lupus effects the tissues and causes many organs to get inflammed. Do you think the gastritis, pericarditis, passing out, and other symptoms could all be related to Lupus? I also have had really bad & frequent bladder infections growing up. Things seemed normal for a couple of weeks. I got another sore throat that lasted 5-6 days and cleared up on its own. A few days later, another one. Hello all, I am new 2 the forum. Just wondering if anyone out there has been considered "cured" for 2 or more years> I have.. and within the last 3 months developed symptoms of Lupus. I do not see my Hepatologist for another month and my PCP says he believes it is just a bit of depression nothing to worry about.

I went to my doctor and he took a swab stating that 1 tonsil was enlarged and suspected strep throat. He gave me antibiotics but they did nothing. The result came back a week later and it was negative for infection. I have had the red throat ever since!

My cold sore was not psoriasis...and i do not get the usual lupus rash. very psoriasis like and dime sized.

I'm a 17 year old male and I have red blotches under both my eyes and on my cheeks a little bit further down on my face. The red spots under my eyes aren't quite as prominent as the red spots on my cheeks and their slightly sore when I touch them. The red spots on my cheeks aren't sore at all but their bigger then the spots under my eyes. It seems like the red spots on the right side of my face are more noticable.

For the past 3+ months I have had a chronic dry cough w/ sore throat 3+ years (puss pockets and occasionally a strange odor from throat). The cough seems to come from my lungs w/ discomfort. Hey all, I have been trying to figure out what is going on with me for the past 6 months. Here is the symptom presentation: 2 years ago, I had my first rash outbreak from (presumably) being in the sun. The rash was round in shape, with a small indention in the middle. Soon thereafter, my ears began to occasionally itch, become swollen, and very red. They were also scaly and flaky.
