Common Questions and Answers about Sore scalp migraine

sore

1536712 tn?1294043301 Right now I have a very tender/sore/painful spot in my scalp. It is on the back of my head, the right side of the middle, up against the top of my head. When I press the spot it hurts. When I drag my hand through my hair too. Sometimes it would be more in the front of my scalp, sometimes the other side etc. It's also sometimes more 'widespread', so much of my scakp will feel tender/sore, but I think there is always one spot which is the 'center'...
Avatar f tn During the past few weeks I have had a very sore area on my scalp almost constantly. It is a relatively small area, maybe one to two inches in diameter. I used to have really long hair and when I would wear it in a bun or ponytail all day, my head would get extremely sore. The soreness I am experiencing now is very similar, but my hair is very short...no ponytails anymore. Every morning I wake up with a severe headache as well. Not a migraine, but it's pretty bad.
Avatar f tn Everytime I touch the middle of my scalp I feel pain. It hurts like I have a sore there. I have been feeling this pain in the middle of my scalp for years now. I would like to know why I have this pain and what's the diagnosis for this pain.

Avatar n tn for several weeks i have been having shooting pains on top my scalp with soreness when the shooting is not going on. I was having tightness also across the back of my head. I have a sore shoulder tendon on the side that has the most pain. Regular doctor put me on skelaxin and darvocets which are not doing anything for me. Could I possible have nerve damage. Do I need to see a Neurologist. I went to the emergency room several days ago and had a ct scan done and it didn't show anything.
Avatar n tn Stress is one of the most important factors for the precipitation of migraine headaches. Treatment of migraine involves using a cold compress to the area of pain, resting in a room with little or no sensory stimulation (light, sound, and odors), Withdrawing from stressful surroundings and sleeping. You can also try OTC pain killers. If still the symptoms persist, then please consult a physician for specific anti-migraine therapy. Second possibility is of temporal arteritis.
Avatar f tn Although not clinically diagnosed, I have experienced a viral infection which has hospitalised me 3 times. The viral infection itself has since diminished, however, it has left me with pressure in my head & neck and a constant burning sensation in my scalp and now my eyes seems to be sore quite often. I am taking Lyrica to help suppress the pain, but am desperately in need of being able to talk with someone who may be experiencing the same thing.
Avatar n tn The pain, often described as throbbing and migraine-like, spreads up and around the forehead and scalp. Occipital neuralgia can result from physical stress, trauma, or repeated contraction of the muscles of the neck. Treatment involves pain killers, drugs like gabapentin, amitryptline etc are also helpful http://www.healthscout.com/ency/68/536/main.html http://en.wikipedia.
1819252 tn?1317092002 Hi everyone. I am 13 weeks into treatment and I have a very sore, dry scalp. My hair is also falling out quite a bit now. I was wondering if any of you have found a product to help the scalp. I have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner, but it doesn't seem to help at all.
Avatar f tn These sores can be caused by viral, bacterial or fungal infections. Acne and clogged hair shafts can cause scalp sores, too. Cysts on the scalp are another cause of scalp sores. In folliculitis there is inflammation of one or several hair follicles on the skin causing red, bumpy and pimple-like lumps.Tinea capitis causes round, red, scaly bumps on the scalp's surface.
Avatar m tn There are many migraine variants. Many--such as the ones I experience--do not cause nausea or vomiting.
Avatar n tn Hi, Your symptoms of stress, tightness of muscles in the neck, shoulder area, and headaches suggest of tension headaches. The causes of Scalp tenderness are Migraine, Tension headaches, Cellulitis, Cervical myelopathy, Contact dermatitis, Malignancy, Scalp injury , Squamous cell carcinoma, Brain tumour and basal cell carcinoma. So scalp tenderness may also be associated with the tension headaches. Please go for an MRI of brain and spine to rule out other possibilities.
Avatar f tn I usually get that sensation when I’m getting sick so I took a COVID test. Negative. I also had a sore on my arm that looked infected with STAPH so I took a course of antibiotics. No improvement on other symptoms. My doctor has been really helpful and sent me for blood tests and an MRI. I’m yet to have the MRI as I went for it but had a panic attack. I do have anxiety and am about to start seeing a psychologist.
Avatar f tn I'm a 27 y/o female who is having sharp knifing pains in my ear, shooting out to the top-left side of my scalp. Its quite debilitating. I don't have any sinus issues. I'm wondering why the otc migraine meds aren't working. I'm in tears because I'm not sure what is going on. The pain either starts in the ear and shoots up to the top-left side of my scalp, resonating deep like a stabbing or it just starts on the scalp.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Migraine Associated Vertigo because for the past 2.5 months I have been having dizziness, trouble concentrating/brain fog, and slight headaches/tingling in my scalp. The dizziness feels as though the ground is moving from under my feet. The headaches started at the back of my neck where it meets the bottom of my skull, now they vary and include some slight tingling in my scalp.
Avatar f tn ve had episodes where the pain radiatedat the top center of my head and it actually had my scalp sore. 800 Miligram Ibuprofen sometimes help or 550 Aleve calms it down for a while, but it flairs up again. The best way I can describe this is it feels like a vein wants to burst inside my head. HELP!

Avatar n tn i have had a migraine off & on for the last month or so, now i have a tender spot at the top back of my head, dont know if i should be worried go to the Dr. or what...
Avatar m tn Your scalp does not relate to your eyes, and it is unlikely that you developed a new condition at the same time you developed the dry eyes. I can feel tingling there too if I focus on it so I imagine lots of others have that too. Unless you want to see doc about it, then the tingling you noticed is likely just what you find when you are over-focusing on your body.
Avatar m tn I do know this, I am normal and healthy, but since i was a child, if change the area where my hair is parted on my head, WITHOUT WASHING MY HAIR, I get terrible sensitive pain on my scalp and a BAD headache...almost like a migraine. I just never change my part without shampooing. Hope it helps.
