1819252 tn?1317092002 Hi everyone. I am 13 weeks into treatment and I have a very sore, dry scalp. My hair is also falling out quite a bit now. I was wondering if any of you have found a product to help the scalp. I have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner, but it doesn't seem to help at all.
Avatar f tn Im almost 8 weeks and just last night my scalp began to feel sore in some places. Anybody else experience this??
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info! I have tried some of the shampoos with salicylic acid or coal tar - all it did was make my scalp worse- sort of firery sore and super itchy. that's why I think its dry scalp and not dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis - the symptoms just don't fit. my hair and scalp are dry, not greasy - even if i go 3 days between shampoos my hair is not greasy. the flakes are small and white and not oily.
Avatar f tn they feel like they are almost underneath the skin of my scalp and Although they are always present on my scalp, the only time they show up is when I scratch them. Along with these symptoms,I have been struggling with mild diffuse hairloss that seems to occur when these symptoms arise. I am prone to excema but it usually disappears by now. I have tried nearly everything to get this under control but it like my scalp seems to get used to it and gets worse again.
Avatar m tn m having the same symptoms - ear ache, sore throat, sore scalp. My symptoms have all appeared pretty rapidly. I noticed my ear started hurting yesterday afternoon. Today, I noticed my throat hurt and my scalp has become increasingly sensitive to touch. Did you see a doctor? Did you take anything or do anything to relieve your symptoms? Thanks!
Avatar f tn These sores can be caused by viral, bacterial or fungal infections. Acne and clogged hair shafts can cause scalp sores, too. Cysts on the scalp are another cause of scalp sores. In folliculitis there is inflammation of one or several hair follicles on the skin causing red, bumpy and pimple-like lumps.Tinea capitis causes round, red, scaly bumps on the scalp's surface.
Avatar n tn Hello. I've been noticing sore spots on my head. It's not very much like a headache. In the sense that they seem to actually be the scalp. The feeling is similar to a bruise, and if you have ever had longer hair, and have had your hair up in a pony tail for an extended period of time, then let your hair down. It produces the same feeling of soreness. I'm pregnant, and I have been stressed out lately. I have also been having earaches. Which I am about to start taking antibiotics for.
Avatar n tn Ive always had a tender scalp on and off but about 2 years ago I started noticing my hair was thinning where my scalp was sore primarily. Its been thinning at the top and around the temples. The thinning progressed rather quickly ive had to xut my hair shorter to make it blend. Prior to the thinning my hair would shed these grey flakes like dandruff especially if I was sweating or just finished playing sports.
Avatar m tn I've been trying to figure out why my scalp is so sore and very tender I don't have a headache. the back of my head is not as sore as the top, front & sides it is so tender to the touchI would say the very center is the worse. I have not hit my head I've even stop perming my hair. also on my arms I sometimes feel lumps. could these be related? Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Hi there, my partner (a male) had been complaining of a sore head in a particular spot, and just recently I've discovered he has now got a small bald patch where he's been complaining it had been sore. I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was something to worry about ? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Several different problems can present as an itchy and red sore on the scalp. The most common reasons for dry, red, irritated scalp are seborrhea and psoriasis. If scratched, any condition on the scalp can get infected and become more itchy or painful. Also, fungal infections or ringworm of the scalp can also present as an itchy, red scalp. In addition, applying a variety of treatments may cause an allergic contact dermatitis. Is there any way you can get to a dermatologist quickly?
Avatar f tn Alright so I woke up today and found that I have sore spot or soft spot on my head. If you touch it, it hurts. My health history is pretty complicated. I have Psoriasis, TMJ, an out of aligned jaw (I'm getting corrective jaw surgery soon for it), a very minor case of arthritis (it's off and on), and some other more minor issues. I've also had off and on (more on than off) headaches the last couple of months.
1536712 tn?1294043301 Right now I have a very tender/sore/painful spot in my scalp. It is on the back of my head, the right side of the middle, up against the top of my head. When I press the spot it hurts. When I drag my hand through my hair too. Sometimes it would be more in the front of my scalp, sometimes the other side etc. It's also sometimes more 'widespread', so much of my scakp will feel tender/sore, but I think there is always one spot which is the 'center'...
Avatar m tn I've been having these acne/pimples start in my scalp, then they get irritated and pop. Sometimes they'll get very big and form like a bump and my hair would fall off. The bumps hurt like a sore and eventually it goes away after a month or so.
577507 tn?1218265629 i have the same problem .
237053 tn?1258828426 I also forgot to mention that my I've had problems with a dry flaky, scaly scalp since the onset of sx too. It isn't my whole scalp just a small area near the front right side.
535822 tn?1443976780 Well I found the reason for my hives I was allergic to Buuny ears (Opuntia Microdasys ) but has anyone got an idea why my head ,scalp is sore and itchy ,last few days extremly so, any ideas welcom, I have started using a completly 'free 'shampoo.
Avatar f tn The condition is definitely improved lately with the foam steroid but as soon as I stop using it, I start to get the bumps (very few though) and my scalp starts to become sore, itchy and red again. I think the only reason it stays under control is the steroid. Any ideas on what would cause this or if I should use something other than the steroid foam? I'm on Lexapro for stress/anxiety but I don't think that's helping my scalp issue if it IS from stress.
Avatar m tn I've been having same thing sort of, scalp sensitivity on top right area about 2-3 in diameter, feels like someone is constantly pulling out my hair by the roots, while what feels like inner ear pain that gets worse when I swallow hard, right above the mastoid process so guessing it's inner ear. I'm on 100mg Neoral and 365mg Myfortic as immunosuppressants as I'm > 10 yrs post liver transplant.100mg, levothyroxine, 5mg ambien, and some supplements but nothing new recently.
Avatar f tn I've got an appointment scheduled tomorrow with my dermatologist. I'm just wondering what kind of bumps these may be?? I'm currently 25 and I've had these since I was 18. They don't itch but can become sore if I pick at them. The bumps do not pop. The bumps become dry and scaly/flaky but never go away. They always appear in the exact same spots. If I dont use any type of bump shampoo they can become inflamed more and spread.
Avatar f tn The hair loss happened to me in cycles, about a two month process with sore scalp, then a few weeks of major hair loss, then it would stop for a while, then the whole thing would begin again. For dy mouth I used a product called Oasis, its a mouth spray that helps a lot. You can get it over the counter. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to transfer the herpes from my finger to my scalp? I believe I washed my hair during prodrome (tingling finger) and now my scalp hurts and tingles constantly. I would have thought the shampoo would kill the virus?
1009876 tn?1326490077 The sore spots are only on my scalp, not my face. I have been putting antibiotic cream (clindasol) on the spots. It seems to make the soreness subside, but they're not going away. So far, Head and shoulders doesn't help. I'm going to change my shampoo to see if that helps.
Avatar n tn From what I can recall, I haven't done anything different. But here's one thing to note. I've been basically living off antibiotics since I was a baby. I've always had chronic sore throat pain which required me to be on antibiotics. I would get sore throat about twice a year at the minimum until I was about 22 years old (3 years ago). Since I started taking Vitamin C supplements in form of orange juice, etc, haven't had my 'chronic' sore throat since.
Avatar f tn i have tender spots all over my body, even on my scalp. especially on my rib cage. these tender spots sometimes have little nodules under the skin. is this connected with my fibromyalgia?
Avatar m tn Whenever I touch my scalp, my hair feels short and stubbly at the roots, especially on top and in front, and it feels like all I have is fuzz there, even though I know my hair is still there. I dont know if that makes sense. My scalp has also been extremely sore where it is the most thin on top of my scalp. I don't know if I have any thyroid problems or vitamin deficiencies because I don't have a primary physician to do any bloodwork or tests.
Avatar f tn I have constant dry scalp. It does not flake like Dandruff. I get sore spots all over especiallly along hair line. I had it bad a few years ago, then it got better. It just never cleared up. It hurts to even brush my hair. It has made my hair so dry that I cannot even style it anymore. It feels good after first washing it, but then it starts all over again. It itches too.
