sore nipples when not breastfeeding

breastfeeding hurts sooo bad does anyone know any type of cream I can put on my nipples or something I cry every time I feed my babe >.

16W4d. My nipples have been itchy the whole day. Now they are sore.

my baby is 2 1/2 weeks old and though i am only pumping because she is not latching, my nipples are no longer sore... or i should say they no longer hurt... they are a bit sore from the pumpimg but very manageable... however the first week and a half my nipples got so sore and raw i had pieces of skin come off and they bled (tmi sorry), so i would say give it a couple more days and see if it gets better... lanolin helped a lot... and so did hot water compresses... as well as letting them air...

I was having trouble breast feeding these last two days but I got it now. Nipples are still sore and feel dry. What can I do to make them feel the way they did before..??

Bought seamless comfort bras just to sleep in--cheap at Marshalls & Walmart. They slip over the head. Extra support has helped. I wear maternity/nursing bra during the day. While BF I used lanolin last time and slept in a maternity/nursing bra at night but I've also heard people like those nursing tanks. Not enough support for me but might work for you.

@ashlii00 Don't be scared! Honestly after being in labor (even if you get an early epidural) breastfeeding pain is a piece of cake. Inconvenient, yes, but you birthed a baby! You're a super hero mama. Sore nipples pass, and breastfeeding is good for both of you.

Im 21 weeks and im a FTM my nipples are dry and itchy( and sore) and im not sure if this is normal I asked my midwife and she sort of ignored the question and said having sore boobs is normal...

I am only breastfeeding. The first 2 days were horrible. My nipples were very sore and it also started to have some cuts on them from my baby suckinh so much . but on day 3 my milk came in and it was a lot easier and not painful ! But sore. Nipple cream is a must! You might want to give up during the first fee days because its very overwhelming but hang in there mama!!

So my mother-in-law tells me that I need to toughen up my nipples before the baby gets here by rubbing them raw with a wash cloth like twice a week. I'm guessing to help keep them from cracking etc. When I start to breastfeed. Is this an old wives tale?? I'm not sure what to think of it.

Ok, so I had my baby march 4th. Immediately began breastfeeding. Everything was good. Her latch was off some but it adjusted as she ate. They lose sensitivity. I agree keep at it for 6 weeks. When yr milk comes in and yr breasts get engorged it hurts so much!

Get urself the cream called DAKTARIN. . its made for thrush n its alao good for sore nipples. ... Its a must to have in the beginning. ..its safe for the baby so u can apply it before and after feeding. ... good luck! !!! Cant wait for my second chance in january! !

t used it since my sin was 2 weeks old he is now almost 4 months. The best thing to make your nipples soft and not sore is to just let the breastmilk dry on them.
