sore neck and jaw

A while back I had a sinus infection that drained into my jaw and lymph nodes in my neck that hurt sooooo bad I was crying in agony. Could stand to even move my head or talk. I put really hot compresses on the areas to help them drain and take the soreness out. I used towels I had put in the microwave to wrap around my neck and against my face. The prednisone may have been masking this, but now it's out of your system so the pain is there. Hope the drs come up with something soon.

my left neckand undeneath my clavical have been sore for 2 weeks, it isn't sore to touch and seems swollen. It seems to radiate to my jaw and ear and the back of my head?

Can TMJ cause tingling in your back, neck and calf? And can TMJ also cause pain in knee joints? I know this sounds strange but my ENT thinks I have TMJ and has referred me to a specialist even though a few of my symptoms are neurological. I have already gone through the gammet of testing including MRI's of head and neck and blood tests. I also had all of the ENG tests. Everything is normal.

Last week I was ok but developed a sore throat and headaches late last week and by the weekend I had a sore throat, vomited once and developed a sore neck and this lump all in the space of a day. I dunno what it is but if I turn my neck now it's not that painful but before it felt like I had strained a muscle in my neck and the lump itself is quite tender to touch.

I am currrently suffering with a sore tongue for about 2-3 months. It feels sometimes like after you've had a hot drink, a bit numb, and taste is affected. I am getting red tiny dots at the front right which are a bit sore. Also a couple of darker dots next to this spot. I have pain under my right jaw where the glands are and if I press there it feels like it's connected with the tongue.

Alright so I woke up today and found that I have sore spot or soft spot on my head. If you touch it, it hurts. My health history is pretty complicated. I have Psoriasis, TMJ, an out of aligned jaw (I'm getting corrective jaw surgery soon for it), a very minor case of arthritis (it's off and on), and some other more minor issues. I've also had off and on (more on than off) headaches the last couple of months.

Well I started biting down on my jaw (left side only) and now the muscles on jaw and in my neck on my left side twitch. Of course I have the jaw pain and ear pain associated with the biting down on my jaw. But I have never had muscle twitches in my neck. Anyone have any answers?

My daughter is 20 and for a few days has had very sore lower gums, yesterday she woke up to very swollen and painful glands on one side under her chin , she went to the drs who gave her antibiotics said it could be an infection of her gums, today she is so much pain in her neck and jaw, she's away at uni so I am an anxious mother worried could this be more serious?

This was last week and it has not subsided. It is sore in my neck to the touch, and the pain radiates into my ear and lower jaw. Neither the jaw or the ear are sore to the touch. Firstly, it could be a milder type of infectious mononucleosis in which there’s fever, sore throat and swollen neck glands. It is usually a self limiting illness. It is caused by a virus. The second possibility is sialadenitis which means inflammation of the salivary glands present beneath the jaw line. I’ll advise you to consult an ENT specialist who can give you a better idea after the examination. It’s good that your blood reports and thyroid profile is okay. I hope this helps.

I have been in pain for 5 years. It started out like a sinus headache around my eye on the right side and cheek. Also had pain in my jaw very similar to TMJ. I went thru so many meds and doctors. Had many xrays, MRI's, etc. Each day my headache was on the right side of my head. The pain traveled down my neck, into my ear and on my shoulders. My ear felt like it was muffled or swollen inside. I have been taking pain medicine everyday just to function.

Started last week with discomfort in my neck when moving pain progressed across my shoulder now has gone up to my ear and across my jaw just on my left side.Any suggestions?Could it be caused by window open in car on that side.

I am a 63 year old female and three months ago began having a sore mouth and tongue. Neither my dentist or doctor could find anything wrong but it has not gone away and now I have this tight feeling of pressure in my cheeks, a tired jaw and aching neck. my hands also don't feel quite right and hurt when I press down on them. I have always been an anxiety ridden person,but here recently I have been clenching my teeth a lot more and I think it is causing the back of my tounge and the front parts of my throat to be sore but not like a sick sore really like a muscle strain sore. I carry a lot of anxiety in my neck and shoulders and I do find myself clenching my jaw quite a bit anymore,but I am now thinking that my tounge and throat muscles are now tensing up.

The submandibular gland pain is felt under the jaw/neck and also can give pain in the jaw bone and ear. An xray called a sialogram can be done where they try and pass a tiny tube through the duct and into the gland, carrying dye which is shown up on the xray. Sometimes they are unable to do this because of the blockage in the tiny duct itself. Pain can also come from the muscles in the neck being tense. Try resting with a warm compress or warm hot water bottle against your neck and face.

Mind you it was so large that it wrapped around the bone and was traveling down my neck, and traveling up the bone towards my ear! Now after only three days on the antibiotic, my tongue is very red in spots, bleeds and is so painful that drinking water hurts. I've had issues on and off with my jaw being really stiff and sore. Also I get a crampy feeling in the muscles of my neck, especially below the chin, and around the adam's apple. During Christmas my jaw felt weak - I only noticed it because I was chomping on a candy cane! So I don't think that TN is specifically causing your jaw stiffness and weakness.
