Avatar f tn My jaw bacame sore in the beginning I thought I was having a bad toothache and had my dr call in an antibiotic but it didn't help. I guess its because our joints are loosening up and that causes the pain. Even in our jaws. Mine didn't last long maybe a week in a half.

Avatar n tn hello i took out my wisdom teeth a year ago and since then i got plenty of pains in my jaw and palate (the roof of my mouth).I went to the dentist got a splint and all my jaw pain is gone.I now have pains in the roof of my mouth and i think it is because of my muscles because when ever i make any eye movements or certain jaw movements like biting down and chewing chewy foods i get more pain in the roof of my mouth.
Avatar f tn I have always been an anxiety ridden person, but here recently I have been clenching my teeth a lot more and I think it is causing the back of my tounge and the front parts of my throat to be sore but not like a sick sore really like a muscle strain sore. I carry a lot of anxiety in my neck and shoulders and I do find myself clenching my jaw quite a bit anymore, but I am now thinking that my tounge and throat muscles are now tensing up.

Avatar n tn I have severe throat pain on left side mainly underneath jaw and at bottom of throat. Seems to be set off by acidic foods, or swallowing bulky rough items. I have never had a sore throat like this before -- I have no other symptoms no cold, no runny nose, no cough etc. It has not gotten any better after a kind of 2 day onset 6 days ago. Yawning really hurts severely.

Avatar m tn The "sternocleidomastoid muscles" are most likely those which are giving you radiating pain from ear down to neck/shoulder/arm(Google for picture of this muscle if unfamiliar with its location). There are two of these muscles in the superficial layers of the anterior (front) portion of the neck that make the shape of a ā€œVā€, and they are primarily helpful in rotation, flexing and extension of the head.

Avatar m tn a few days ago i began having jaw pain when I open my mouth. It is not severe pain, but mild to moderate. The only thing I have been doing differently is that recently i have been using finacea and hydroquinone. Tho weeks ago I started using the medications on the same area not at the exact same time, but within an hour. I Have had the pain for four days now and it has not seemed to have gotten any better.
Avatar m tn Afterwards while i was walking, i had this sharp stabbing pain in the right top side of my head were the jaw muscles are located. It hurt for a while so i went to a store and bought some juice thinking that i was dehydrated. It soothed it a bit but it still hurt. The muscle is pretty tight and i am hoping that it isnt serious. Now few weeks have passed by and the pain has subsided. A little tight on both sides of head and it still it comes back but not that strong.
429326 tn?1282328354 I've had issues on and off with my jaw being really stiff and sore. Also I get a crampy feeling in the muscles of my neck, especially below the chin, and around the adam's apple. During Christmas my jaw felt weak - I only noticed it because I was chomping on a candy cane! So I don't think that TN is specifically causing your jaw stiffness and weakness.
Avatar f tn 3 months after the surgery I could still barely open my mouth wide enough to yawn without it feeling incredibly stiff and sore and so returned to the surgeon. He said I had sprained the jaw muscles and precribed a month of anti-inflammatory medication. 6 months after the surgery and after using a heat pack throughout the day and whilst sleeping. And my jaw is still really sore and stiff. What has gone wrong?? Have I torn a muscle? Or has a bone been fractured?
Avatar f tn And if u walk or stand it suppose to release the pain.. it does! But be careful I stood up so fast one nite out of my sleep the pain was sooo bad..
Avatar m tn can this cause my jaw muscles on that side to shrink. my jaw is quit sore and i notice that the muscles are smaller on that side.
Avatar n tn Have had a sensation of sore tounge, prickly toung particularly at back, sore mouth. Also a sensation that my tounge is too large in my mouth. I now also have a very distinct Tremor in my lower jaw and my mouth seems to be watering a lot. It imptoves slightly if I eat. I was diagnosed earlier in the year with Thyroiditis. Which supposedly got better. I have a serious brain fog and my eyes are very light sensitive. I have struggled with frequent herpes virus out breaks for over 30years.
Avatar m tn I first thought it might be sinus drainage, but the pain is still with me (Today is Dec. 10). Recently (last few days) I have had pain in my jaw muscles, but throat pain had subsided. No fever (slightly elevated), rash, or diarrhea ever within the past two weeks. I have been getting single 'hive' on various parts of my body though, with a white coated tongue as well as chills in the days and night sweats.
Avatar n tn It is sore in my neck to the touch, and the pain radiates into my ear and lower jaw. Neither the jaw or the ear are sore to the touch. My primary care dr. gave me Ceclor for a sinus infection after a few days because it sounded sinus related to her. Has not helped. I went to the ER yesterday because of the pain and they thought I had torn my carotid artery! After an ultrasound of both sides of my neck, everything was normal so that was not the problem.
Avatar n tn Sore throat is not a common manifestation of temporomadibular disorders. Limited jaw opening may be caused by mechanical blockage of TMJs or masticatory muscle spasm . Seeing a tmj specialist is advised.
Avatar f tn t the best route as of yet, but a dentist can provide you with a bite plate that will help at night because you are likely gritting your teeth at night if you have TMJ. That puts pressure on the entire jaw and would cause pain in all of those areas. I would also recommend asking your physician for muscle relaxants and use those for a period of time to see if they provide relief. The muscles attached to your jaw may be having spasms which would make your jaw tighter and more painful.

Avatar n tn Usually they give patients antibiotics and pain medications. Some pain and swelling are to be expected, but if you think it's more than expected or you are not on antibiotics, give the dentist a call to report your symptoms.
