Avatar m tn The BILT is bilirubin. Bilirubin is a major breakdown product of hemoglobin which is derived from red blood cells that are being broken down in a 'normal' fashion via the spleen. It's transferred to the liver where a large portion of it undergoes processing and becomes 'conjugated' - it's put together with something else to make it more water-soluble. The water solubility of bilirubin allows the bilirubin to be excreted into bile. (Bile then is used to digest fats.

PEGylation can also provide water solubility to hydrophobic drugs and proteins. This is a long winded and convoluted way of saying that pegylated interferon will last longer in your body than interferon without pegylation. The original standard of care required taking interferon three times a week.
Avatar m tn dose anyone know definably how long methadone stays in your system 4 days now could be worse
Avatar m tn I think I've read that all the Bs are water soluble, so they should pass out of your system quickly, I would guess (but I'm not medically trained, so don't know for sure). I too take B complex supplements, some of which run up into the thousands% of daily requirement, like B-1, which is 3,333% of MDR. Given that the Bs are supposed to just wash out of your body, it seems like it might be something else, but this is a question for your doc. Are you keeping your fluid intake up?
Avatar f tn A finger prick test will only show the amount of glucose in the body at the time of doing the strip finger prick test. An HbA1C blood test will show the percentage levels of glucose in your blood over a period of 9-12 weeks. The blood is renewed every 9-12 weeks and the glucose sticks to the old red corpuscles to give an average read out. The fasting glucose test will show exactly how your body reacts to the glucose.
Avatar m tn The main requirements for them are (1) high IFN-inducing activity, (2) absence of side effects, (3) wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, (4) broad therapeutic security and, (5) good solubility in water and biologic liquids. IFN inducers stimulate IFN production in different cells and organs, and that determines the strategy for their application. Amixin (OOO "Lancepharm," Moscow, Russia) induces IFN-?/? production mostly in T cells. Cycloferon (NTFF "Polysan," St.
Avatar m tn These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period). Rather than a normal blood test that would only show the sugar levels at the time you gave your blood for testing.
Avatar n tn I wake up and urinate right away, but dont wake up to urinate in the middle of the night. for some reason I think that drinking all of the water (crystal light) is causing my blood sugar to rise.
Avatar f tn I am sure the doctor will get back to you, but you really have to make sure and show this to your child's doctor. I have learned that the blood sugars he is having are not normal and he needs to be seen tomorrow. He needs the follow up testing asap and needs an A1C test. This shows the average blood sugar over the last few months. It showed my daughter to have a glucose intolerance. Good Luck. Becky This is on the american diabetes association website.
Avatar m tn I was unclogging a toilet when some of the water splashed my hands. I have open wounds on my hands. When I looked down into the toilet I saw some used blood glucose test strips. I didn't see any blood. I immediately washed my hands with plenty of soap. About 1-3 minutes later I washed my hands again 3 times. About 10 minutes after that I washed my hands twice more and disinfected them with alcohol. What are my chances of contracting HIV,Hepatitis or other infectious diseases?

Avatar f tn I have read so many times, on the power of exercise in controlling diabetes 2. But I want to know more what exactly exercise does concerning this topic. Does exercise improves insulin sensitivity???? Does exercise lower blood sugar levels? I asked you this, because today, I measured my sugar levels before and after exercising an the number was the same. It made me doubt if it really did have any effect on my sugar levels.

Avatar f tn Let your doctor know but in the mean time drink a glass of Orange juice incase your sugar is low you don't want to pass out. Drink lots of water your body is pumping more blood there for your heart is working harder, rise slowly to avoid dizziness and fainting.
Avatar f tn I had a glucose test 3 weeks ago and it was in the normal range, never had a history of high levels. I woke up this morning with a boil on my inner thigh and my sister said it could be a symptom of diabetes. I also had a cbc that was normal. Is she correct? Could I go from normal glucose level to diabetic level so quickly? I am a bit nervous now. Thanks in advance!
1763618 tn?1315807367 I might add, your last A1c of 12% is dangerously high, almost suicidal. An A1c of 12% equates to a daily glucose level of 298 mg/dl - 3 times above the maximum normal range of 99 mg/dl . Please do yourself a BIG BIG favor by making a lifestyle change now. Focus on a diabetic diet/nutrition plan, maintain normal body weight, and perform 30 minutes of daily physical exercise to help burn off that excess sugar. No amount of medicine will prevent the nasty side effects of diabetes.
Avatar n tn Hi Kumar, I am not a doctor, therefore I cannot answer your question in any scientific/medical terms. Your best bet would be to check with a doctor or peruse professional medical literature to find more specific explanations. My understanding of insulin resistance is narrowed down to the basic concept, which is that in insulin resistance patients the muscle, fat and liver cells don't use insulin properly causing excess glucose to bulid up in the blood.
Avatar n tn Give that kid some ice cream or something with carbs in it. Then see what happens some kids use a lot of energy pack that boy full of carbs.
Avatar f tn Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation (probiotics) and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids (clear soups, water, ORS in water, lemonade). Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers, banana, rice, peeled apple, etc. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If it does not help, consult a doctor.
9109315 tn?1408617920 Has anyone heard of passing the glucose test and becoming diabetic or getting gestational diabetes after taking the test? I passed with both pregnancies. It seems like after that test both times I have an issue with sugar until I delivered. I go Monday to the PCP, and find out what's going on. I was just wondering. My ob with my first didn't seem to worried. That's why I never bothered to get it checked. Now that I have a 2yr.
Avatar f tn Well I've always drink water. Since I've been pregnant I drank so much more water. Example a 32pk of aquafina water last for 4days. There's nothing wrong with it , this is my 3rd pregnancy both previous healthy 8pounds babies. My fluid was clear skin was hydrated nails hair etc . I would just say like some women crave food etc I crave water alot of it particularly aquafina brand. It slows down after the baby but I still drink alot because of breastfeeding. So I would say drink up.

Avatar n tn She was diagnosed with diabetes by a doctor in another state. She was taken off of diabetes medication due to concerns of kidney damage. Her nephrologist said her kidneys were fine a month or two ago. He requested blood work prior to her followup appointment. Her glucose levels were at 480. He thought it was strange that her primary care physician wasn't doing anything to control her glucose levels. He told her to contact her doctor immediately in regards to high blood glucose.
Avatar m tn In the over eighty, especially if bedridden, they have to be encouraged to drink by providing them with small quantities of a variety of different flavors of beverage frequently during the day.. In addition hydration with electrolytes necessary. Good hydration is essential to maintain glucose levels, metabolism and intestinal health. The exact amount depends upon weight, exercise, metabolism and outside temperature. You can lose a lot of moisture while sweating, for example.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies... I've been nervous all day and can't sleep because I had an appt with my specialist today, which I'm seeing due to the fact that I'm carrying twins and have had a miscarriage before, and when they did my ultrasound they found excess amniotic fluids in one of my baby's sac. Dr told me to not worry it could be that I have developed gestational diabetes although I just got checked 3 weeks ago and it came back normal.
