I know Stony Brook does not accept a lot of insurances, which makes it difficult for people like us. I have to pay out of pocket for this visit.

Avatar f tn Hello! Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm actually just a part-time Long Islander -- my boyfriend lives in Stony Brook, but I spend most of my time in Brooklyn! Fellow New Yorkers unite. I'm definitely grateful to have a doctor who is willing to recognize when he's out of his depth, and I think that he was also shocked that I wasn't more upset when he suggested it may be MS.
Avatar f tn My Quest/Stony Brook western blot back in April show postive for band 41, and 18, both IgM and IgG, and plus non-specific bands were also detected. I really wanted to see what these non-specific bands were--it may give clue to what else I am infected with. The lab refused to give me the list of nonspecific bands detected, saying I have to go through my doctor who ordered it. My neurologist refused to ask lab for it saying they are irrelavant. ID specialist concurred. I disagreed.
361951 tn?1220578983 William Lawson M.D. of the University Medical Center at the State University of New York at Stony Brook found that a simple non-invasive procedure known as Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) was effective in treating 95% of the patients with MVA. Dr. Kronhaus has had great success using EECP to treat patients with blockages of the large blood vessels that sit on top of the heart; it was Dr.
148588 tn?1465778809 t really know a lot but I am aware that man made products like the solar panels and petroleum based products are a problem. I do not yet know the answer to that but I imagine it is the lesser of evils. Less toxic to the environment than say fracking and tar sands. Nevertheless it is a good point and hopefully it is a concern that is being addressed. About the "pork" if that is the case, I agree with you but it seems like Washington runs by a different game.

Prices, the study found, will hold steady around 20 cents per kilowatt hour, with grid-only prices to jump to 40 cents by 2040.
Avatar f tn We're not medical doctors, so we can't offer a diagnosis, but given that you have some strange symptoms after finding ticks in your bed, I also recommend you go see a LLMD. A good ILADS-trained LLMD is familiar with other tick borne diseases and should be able to give you a good work up. I don't know where you're located, but ILADS is a great source of suggested doctors.

I'll even make up my spare room for you to stay in and I'll put you up for the night. We can drive down to Galveston and sit on the beach and watch it together, all the while, arguing politics and at each other's throats. Doesn't that sound like fun?!?

Avatar f tn Venereal warts are painless, often white or gray, firm, sharply delineated, and can be almost flat to raised, even look cauliflower-like. They are firm - sometimes stony in consistency. They are very contagious, and, as such, can spread. You give very little info. Have a doctor look at it. In that location they are relatively easy to eradicate.
Avatar n tn At this point, my doctor suspects that I might have a solar allergy and he and prescribed me Plaquenil (200mg BID). I've been taking it for 5 days now and so far there have been no results. I agree that a solar allergy seems possible, but I have a few questions about this: 1) How long should I take this medicine before I might expect to see some results? 2) If I don't respond to this Plaquenil, does that mean this is not a solar allergy?
Avatar m tn My NS was a pediatric surgeon, and Chiari was actually one of his specialties...He works at Stony Brook and is relatively well known. At my last appointment, I brought up to him that I was concerned about my lack of MRIs, as I had read on the web that many do it on a yearly basis. He assured me that since I had stopped growing, have noticed no change in symptoms, that syrinx development is unlikely as well as an increase in herniation unless otherwise aggravated by a car accident.
5717070 tn?1376586671 That is when my first neuro noticed the lesions, and also the neurological issues such as the nystagmus and the brisk reflexes. He had referred me to Stony Brook MS center but they did not take my insurance. Then I found South Shore Neurologic and they do specialize in MS and this doctor sent me for the whole batteries of tests. When I went to him all my symptoms were "quiet". I just went to him for the sake of following up.
571680 tn?1219584014 m quite near the University of New York, Stony Brook, which is in Suffolk County on Long Island. It is just that I have HIP health insurance so I am limited in the doctors I can see under my coverage. It is also vacation time for my GP, but I'm sure this will work out also.
Avatar m tn British Museum: Prototype for Noah's Ark was round LONDON — It was a vast boat that saved two of each animal and a handful of humans from a catastrophic flood. But forget all those images of a long vessel with a pointy bow — the original Noah's Ark, new research suggests, was round. A recently deciphered 4,000-year-old tablet from ancient Mesopotamia — modern-day Iraq — reveals striking new details about the roots of the Old Testament tale of Noah.
