People gather to see the longest total eclipse expected to occur this century.A lunar eclipse takes place when the sun, earth and moon are all perfectly aligned with the Earth in the middle. When the moon passes behind the earth, the sun's rays are blocked from striking the moon. This can only occur when the moon is full. Unlike a solar eclipse, which can only be seen for a few moments from any specific spot, a lunar eclipse can be viewed for several hours.

The eclipse tonight is not a solar eclipse but rather a lunar eclipse. A National Geographic (fairly reliable I would say!) article I just read said it is the third in four with the last eclipse being at the end of September with the four combined being called a tetrad. I wouldn't worry too much. Thanks for mentioning it but we already survived two others! I have heard of hurricanes effecting pregnancy but we dont have to worry about those just yet! I'm not sure about the solar eclipse I think it's just the lunar eclipse since that one is considered the "bloody moon"?

It's a lunar eclipse not a solar eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth is inline and inbetween the sun and moon. It is the solar eclipse that should not be viewed without protective eyewear.

When you go out on a lunar eclipse your baby comes out with cleft lip.. and the partial eclipse is on the 23rd ... is that still the same thing??

t believe in superstitions, but my mother in law says that pregnant women should avoid looking at a full moon or being outside during a solar eclipse.. And to wear red and a small metal pin whenever it happens.. Anyone heard of this?

24 ish years ago there was one of the biggest solar eclipse that year all the plants died and a lot of children and animals were born with pieces of skin missing my cousin being one of them was born with cleft lip.

Hi,I just wanna know is lunar or solar eclipse have any impact on pregnant women or her baby? I'm a Indian n ftm, here people follow rituals like lying on bed straight by putting hands, legs n body straight from starting of eclipse till it's end otherwise child will have some sort of disability. Women should not do any sort of work Just she should rest on bed in above posture. I wanna know is it effect baby? Is this tradition follow anywhere else apart from india?

Just kidding I watch too many vampire wearwolf shows. I am not sure about an eclipse but I live in southern Ontario and we have been able to see the northern lights last few days which is pretty amazing.

Has anybody else ever heard if you go out while there is a lunar eclipse while pregnant your baby comes out with cleft lip??? Just asking since there is going to be an eclipse this month on the 18 & 19 and then another on nov 3rd..
