Avatar f tn A short dose of ultraviolet light is used to desensitize patients with PMLE and solar urticaria. A six-week course of desensitization often provides a PMLE patient with protection for the entire summer." Source:http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/photosensitivity.html?
148588 tn?1465778809 ve ever seen, like last summer, with its record heat and drought, decimated crops, unprecedented wildfires, and devastating Superstorm Sandy, will be the typical summer. And the extreme summers? There is no analog in our past for what that would look like." That world is just decades, even years away.
Avatar f tn It was very hot and humid yesterday. Of course I wore sun screen and kept re-applying. Came home to find these random rashes on my legs. They do not itch at all and are not spreading or oozing. I didn't apply any creams or lotions. They are blotchy and made up of teeny tiny red dots. Here are some pics http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/battymu/IMGP0676.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/battymu/IMGP0675-1.jpg Hope u can help!
Avatar f tn Hi, It appears clearly that your daughter has some kind of sensitivity to the sun or its heat. This is a known phenomenon and is relieved usually by decrease/ stoppage of the stimulating factor, ie the sun. Solar urticaria may be a possible reason and therefore your doctor may be correct. However, there is a condition called Porphyria which may need investigation in this case.
179856 tn?1333547362 Timing is everything. And for the Solar Dynamics Observatory, launched into orbit this past February, the timing couldn't have been better. The SDO helps scientists study solar storms, and for a long couple of years prior to the launch, those storms were few and far between. Our nearby star was in a deep sleep, largely devoid of the sunspots, flares and prominences that indicate heightened magnetic activity.
Avatar n tn At this point, my doctor suspects that I might have a solar allergy and he and prescribed me Plaquenil (200mg BID). I've been taking it for 5 days now and so far there have been no results. I agree that a solar allergy seems possible, but I have a few questions about this: 1) How long should I take this medicine before I might expect to see some results? 2) If I don't respond to this Plaquenil, does that mean this is not a solar allergy?
Avatar n tn Symptoms follow any stimulus to sweat such as exercise (sometimes called exercise-induced urticaria), heat from the sun (which could also indicate solar urticaria), saunas, hot showers (reaction to water can also indicate water urticaria), spicy foods which may cause an increase in body temperature or even stress due to blushing or anger. The affected area will often feel warm and can be extremely itchy or exhibit a burning sensation.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to get allergies from natural gas heat in the home. Every year when we begin to heat the house, I begin to itch. Could it be caused by the gas furnace?
612876 tn?1355514495 Hey all, I thought some of these might be worth a laugh if nothing else ... interesting ideas, though I don't know how practical any of them would be or if they'd even work at all. (And some of the prices ... ouch!) But in honor of so many of us battling the heat this time of year: "Air-conditioned" mattress pad: http://www.japantrendshop.com/kuchofuku-airconditioned-p-140.html?language=en USB-powered "Air-conditioned" shirt: http://www.japantrendshop.
Avatar n tn Prednisolone was for heat rash and my itchy dots. Today I reduce to 10mg a day and tomorrow 10mg and next 5mg and that's it. I've been taking Prednisolone for 3 and half days so far. The main problem at the moment is just the burning face and neck, specially cheeks just under my eyes and under the chin. The burning once goes from one cheek to another or to the neck or everywhere at the same time. Is it normal in such cases? Thank you.
Avatar f tn My dr says that I have heat induced hives and put me on 24 Zyrtec and 25mg of Benedryl. It worked for about a month and now I'm breaking out in hives again when I exercise. I haven't had any allergy tests done yet. A fitness friend of mine thinks that I might have a build up of toxins and when i sweat the toxins are being released. I haven't talked with my dr about that yet. Is there any truth to this? I do drink a good bit of regular soda.
148588 tn?1465778809 t really know a lot but I am aware that man made products like the solar panels and petroleum based products are a problem. I do not yet know the answer to that but I imagine it is the lesser of evils. Less toxic to the environment than say fracking and tar sands. Nevertheless it is a good point and hopefully it is a concern that is being addressed. About the "pork" if that is the case, I agree with you but it seems like Washington runs by a different game.
Avatar m tn WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A 4 STAGE PUMP. SUCH AMAZING AND ALMOST MAGICAL THINGS HAVE BEEN DONE IN MANY OTHER AREAS. WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG?
Avatar n tn No I haven't seen a doctor about this. It really bothers me but I don't have insurance and can't afford a dr's visit. It never crosses the bridge of my nose it's only on the sides of my face and my neck and upper arms. I've asked alot of people who are sensitive to the sun if they have ever had the same reaction but only one person has had the exact same reaction that i have. I have an extreme reaction to heat in general. I always keep it really cold at my house.
Avatar m tn It probably was just the heat, especially if you followed up with a cardiologist and everything checked out. Keep hydrated with plenty of water and if this happens again, head back to the doctor to check again.
Avatar f tn climb stairs, have sex, eat curry, and sit on a gym ball and pump pump pump!! Got my fingers crossed for you!
Avatar f tn Mrsgreeneyes27,solar panels are a really great investment. When my hubby and I get our next house we want solar panels. Right now we have a townhouse so we can't get them but with all my Hubby's computer stuff running the house gets warm.
535822 tn?1443976780 til the costs drop down to a price most people can afford. I mean, we all know that electric cars, hybrid cars, solar and wind power are all reasonable efforts to try for alternative energy sources, but the start up costs make such things out of reach for the average person. And, I've actually heard some down sides to solar panels, in that they can actually burn the soil in nearby areas, so I'm not convinced that solar belongs everywhere.
