127512 tn?1193745816 I was just wondering does anyone here get social security for their anxiety/panic attacks? I have suffered for many many years and can no longer work. I also have a heart murmur and miteral valve prolapse.
Avatar n tn This concerns my daughter. She suffers from depression and social anxiety. Any meds she has been put on are low dose. She started on Prozac, then to Paxil and was just put on Zoloft. She is frustrated because nothing seems to level off her emotions. She believes it is because they are all in the same family. She actually got worse on the Paxil. Also, now the Zoloft is making her sick. She is a college student and it is hard to go to class with the nausea.
Avatar n tn Whats up everyone. I'm new to this site. I found it through my searches online about quitting zoloft. I've been taking 150 mg of zoloft for about 6 years now for OCD. I've tried getting off of it twice. First time I weaned myself all the way off. Then I started a new job, got stressed, and felt I should get back on. So I did. Once I got comfortable with my situation I tried again. That time I noticed I got very anxious. In turn I went back to the meds.
Avatar n tn I have been on Zoloft for anxiety for around 2-3 years and range from 50 - 100 mg. Most recently I have been on 100 mg for about 8 months and was 50 before that. Anyway, I started weaning down from 100 to 50 about 12 days ago. I did about 1 week of taking 100 one day and 50 the next and then just started taking 50 every day. I plan to take the 50 for about another 4-6 weeks and then go to 25 and then to 0.
144210 tn?1273092382 Gauf, I had just posted on another site today about social at wk 14 also. Feel like Im turning into a female version of Howard Hughes (without the cash of course...and Anyhow, I think it's just part of tx for a great many of us...however, the heart isn't something we EVER want to blow off because we just think it's the meds. So see the doc if there is any doubt at all.
Avatar n tn Before being put on SSRI's I had a moderate anxiety problem but I was able to enjoy social interactions and was able to function well around people, friends, family, etc. But since being on the SSRI's my anxiety is so high I find it hard to be around people because it just isn't enjoyable when you're very tense. I've been struggling to find relief from this extreme anxiety for six years but I've resigned myself to the fact that I can't go off of the SSRI's because of my depression.
758077 tn?1282599161 I live in and around a real drinking culture and have friends and family who don't have the same problems as me, (though i seem to drink with everyone) and the only way to socialize with them is to drink? They enjoy my company when I drink. I am 38, it has helped me reading depression and anxiety forums when i am going through it, helps me relax, like right now...
Avatar n tn I first tried Paxil (high school) and that worked pretty good for the social anxiety. I was taken off of Paxil after 1-2yrs. 2-3 years later I started voicing my problems again with anxiety and I was put on Zoloft (college). After several months, Zoloft was still not working and was stopped. My doctor suggested going back on Paxil (post-college). So I started Paxil again, however, the Paxil had no effect this time around (I guess I used my one and only "get out of jail free" card!!).
Avatar f tn Hello, My 15 year old has been diagnosed with anxiety and agorophobia, will not go to school and is avoiding other social situations. Doctor prescribed Zoloft I am wondering if anyone has tried a vitamin instead? if so which one and what was your outcome. Am i better off just giving her the Zoloft?
Avatar f tn Magnesium, Zinc, and B6 all needed to help with production of dopamine and GABA, two important neurotransmitters for social anxiety. I was not doing anything else different in my life when it left, but had to go to the stores to get my food anyway :P Just consider your food intake, it makes a difference." ------------- Here's an online Amazon review of someone that took magnesium: "I began taking this product 3 weeks ago for Panic Attacks and Anxiety.
Avatar f tn Maybe some can relate and hopefully give me advice! I have suffered from general anxiety, social anxiety, and panic attacks to varying degrees for years. I also have OCD. I am NOT depressed, although the anxiety does take its toll on me at times. I am a gay male, HIV positive, and currently taking medication for two years and am doing very well thankfully in that regard. However, the anxiety was with me before I became HIV positive and is still with me now. I do not know how to deal with it.
Avatar m tn My blood work was all fine so my doctor put me on paxil for anxiety and lorazapam to use until the paxil kicks in. I dont think it has yet as ive only been using it for 1 and a half weeks. The lorazapam works but makes me too tired so i cant use it during the day. I am very fit 35 yr old male excercise and lift weights 3 to 4 times per week and am still able to exercise with no problems. Thats why i am not certain it is anxiety because i dont think i am stressed.
Avatar f tn I drove myself to the ER and was diagnosed with PVC's....from there I have had panic attacks and anxiety....I am scared I am dying....I have good days and bad days....I had a holter 24 hours that came back with 7,000 pvc's but nothing else...I had an ekg that showed pvc's...I had an echo cardiogram that came back completely normal and I had bloodwork that was amazingly normal....and still I am terrified they have missed something cause I still feel so abnormal most of the time.
Avatar n tn there have been no studies that show any harm in masterbation! BUT!! if masterbation is the way you deal with anxiety, then you may want to work on your anxiety issues first. People use different methods to cope with anxiety/Panic.
Avatar n tn Although it may be true, I am having a tough tough time believing that all these chronic physical symptoms are as a result of anxiety alone. If I am treated for anxiety, I am wondering if they will improve or if the physical symptoms will linger and if so for how long? Would love to here some experiences on this from the forum.
Avatar n tn Does anyone else have head issues and have been told that it is anxiety? I am about tired of this constant head pressure/pain that I keep getting. Its very weird. I will wake up in the morning and feel ok, then about 1/2 hour later this pressure/pain will start on the left side of my head near the top. It will seem to intensify and then lessen itself throughout the day with no real rhyme or reason to when it is worse or better.
Avatar m tn Check out the anxiety and depression forums and you'll see countless people that are going thru exactly what you are. Let your psych guide you toward the proper treatment and I think you'll see relief from your symptoms fairly quickly.
Avatar m tn Interestingly practice of manners reduces anxiety in the social and marital situations. Yes we must keep it up when we are married. It makes a huge difference! More folks should try it.
Avatar m tn I am 23 years old and have been suffering from anxiety for the past 4 years, I have been on zoloft since. Zoloft has worked, but I still do have my episodes. I have an extreme fear of death, losing control, and choking. I recently started seeing a pyschiatrist and bahavioral therapist <--- their awesome. I have a lot of support from my husband, but my parents think that I am a "drama queen". I am so glad I found this community.
Avatar n tn yep, sounds like me when I was in school, i'd walk down the hallway all tense because of my anxiety. (before I knew it was anxiety [which developed the summer prior when I had played this MMO and didnt socialize at all with anyone]) anyways, my anxiety wasn't that bad then. it got bad when I smoked pot for the first time, (well, after a week of smoking pot) and then i had a full blown panic attack! yay. (sarcasm) so anyways, stay clear of meds (SSRI's, i.e. paxil, zoloft, celexa, etc.
Avatar n tn Lately, I had to up my medication to 100mg of Zoloft, splitting it in two for am/pm. That seems to help. I also have anxiety from pulling the lateral chest muscles --- too many push-ups -- and of course, that makes me think it's my heart. I am trying to just let go. If it was really my heart, I'd be dead already! I do not want my children to inherit my fears (the way I did) so I try to keep a close lid on my anxiety. Good luck and well wishes to my fellow panicked people!
Avatar n tn otherwise we could simply tell ourselves that were going to feel good today and it would happen - and while I believe in the power of positive thinking, you first need to get some control over the anxiety and depression before you can even begin to both give and reflect positive feedback within yourself. I'm not sure that the Zoloft is the best medication for depression with anxiety.
Avatar f tn I finally talked to my doctor about the anxiety I've been experiencing and he wrote a prescription for Zoloft, 25 mg once a day, which I've been taking for over 5 weeks. I told him I needed to speak with someone and he referred me to a licensed professional counselor. I've had 3 sessions with her in the past few weeks and she is referring me to a psychiatrist for medication purposes. Also, my primary care doctor ended up prescribing Clonazepam .25mg twice a day as needed.
Avatar m tn They work the best for short term anxiety relief but a good SSRI(Zoloft, Lexapro) would be better for long term rgiments to balance out the seratonin levels. The only time benzos are bad is when they are abused. I currently take appx 1 mg of xanax daily along with my 100 mgs of zoloft and they work wonderfully in concert with each other.
Avatar m tn I've read that smoking raises blood pressure and therefore exacerbates anxiety/stress, so it's a no-brainer that the social-smoking needs to stop. I also read that it's a good idea to cut out caffeine (no more Diet Mt. Dew *cry *throwfit *repeat). So if you are reading this looking for how to stop anxiety and panic attacks after a night of drinking, the simple answer is to STOP drinking.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking the pill (a month ago) and am now (today) done with the Zoloft (after a painful weaning period). I feel fine. No anxiety that isn't warranted. Try getting off the pill before you go on antidepressants. If the pill isn't causing the anxiety than you know the condition far reaches pharmaceuticals. Though I must say when I was on Zoloft it worked wonders just sucked to wean off it.
1448936 tn?1363209946 She's not a bad therapist but I don't improve a lot because I have a lot of anxiety disorders (Social phobia, GAD, OCD, as well as some personnality disorders), so that's maybe why I don't improve a lot. I also done a group therapy for panic with agoraphobia and had no improve at all, in fact I was feeling just worse after it cause I was very frustrated about seeing the others in the group improving and not me!!!
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been diagnosed with anxiety and I am currently taking 10mg Lexapro which doe not seem to be helping. I have really bad physical symptoms and I think there is something else medically wrong with me, even though the various health test that I've had all came up negative. My question is, does anyone of you suffering from anxiety feel constantly tired all of the time, feel like you are out of your body, like on drugs or living in a constant dream? I guess it's called depersonalization?
