Social anxiety herbs

Common Questions and Answers about Social anxiety herbs

Avatar f tn Also seeing as you have spontaneous anxiety attacks you should also get a full check up from your doctor, he/she will probably do a full blood panel workup to make sure your fine, things such as an overactive Thyroid can cause anxiety, nervousness, panic attacks. Vitamin Deficiencies can cause anxiety and panic attacks too, being low in EFA (essential fatty acids) like Omega 3 will do the same.
Avatar m tn I've tried herbs like ashwagandha, rhodiola, gotu kola to help me cope with social anxiety and had positive results.I behaved with confidence and started to become a talkative person. Also,I'm planning to try other herbs like bacopa,st john's wort and ginseng. So, my questions are:Could you give me some advice in tappering off propranolol? What beta blocker would be a better solution(less side effects like depression, weight gain)?

517902 tn?1314719029 I have major depression, GAD as well as social. Things happened in life and I had to move to my inlaws with my bf. I dont work and he wont pay so I had to stop my meds. That was months ago. Since living somewhere that makes me totally unhappy and anxious Ive gotten alot worse than I ever have been in my life. I gained 30 pounds. My high bp is back. Ive shut myself up in this shack for 10 months avoiding his parents who don't like me. The story is long, so I'll cut it there.
Avatar n tn I have had a problem for years where I blush on the bottoms of my cheek, chest when speaking to people. I get nervous. I think that I may have social anxiety. I'm a very shy person. I don't like having this problem, but I don't really want to see a psychiatrist. Are there any natural herbs that can help? I've tried taking St. John's Wort but that didn't help. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Avatar n tn i'm fifteen and suffer from an anxiety disorder. i've told nobody and i just want it to go away naturally.
Avatar f tn As to your med question, given what you say, if you want to try a med you might want to look into beta blockers -- they're specific for heart palps and are used for social anxiety and certain specific phobias sometimes, and are said to be easier to quit than benzos, which are addictive, and antidepressants, which may as well be considered addictive. If the gentler stuff doesn't work, the meds will still be there for later -- they aren't going anywhere. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I had an acute dystonic reaction to it, and ever since then my anxiety attacks have increased tenfold from high anxiety to pure terror....Cymbalta worked well for many people I know, in conjunction with xanax or ativan. also, if you do decide to go with buspar, be forewarned that it can cause serious difficulty sleeping, and with a 1-year-old (I've got one as well) that could be devastating to your energy levels during the day....
Avatar m tn Thank You sooooooooo much. I am going to try your suggestions. I to, used to be able to drive the freeway like a crazy person. I actually LOVED the freeway & driving itself now I fear it everyday. I take back roads to work & have not driven the xpressway in a year but I want to so bad. I try to tell myself that this is NOT going to control me & some days are good & I feel like I can drive forever...but most days are a real challenge. I have trouble at stop lights....
8890834 tn?1400456751 I've tried taking the meds, but they leave me feeling empty inside, left me feeling more depressed than anything and did little to affect my anxiety/social issues. I've found ways to deal in the past and have managed well, but lately my panic attacks have increased along with my social phobia. Going out among crowds or meeting even ONE new person is enough to trigger an attack.
Avatar m tn pounding heartbeat, heartbeat in my ears, trouble getting to sleep at night, fatigue during the day, headache in the temple area/right above the nose, muscle ache, irritability, inability to enjoy social events because of the anxiousness/symptom, cold sweat in hands an/or feet, malaise or muscle weakness(only happened 2 or 3 times), and a sunburn feeling on my chest. these would rotate and usually didn't happen regularly.
Avatar n tn The doctor couldn't find anything and said that it could be anxiety. I don't know why I would have anxiety all of a sudden I have always been a very laid back person, never really worried about anything. I was exposed to a dangerous chemical called styrene from my work for two years prior and during this period, this I know causes nervous system damage ( anxiety, depression, and many other side effects ).
Avatar m tn The smell is very strong, and when the smell comes, it gets in my clothes too. It is really hard to get rid of the problem, because I have social anxiety because of it too. So when i go out, or go to school, i am afraid of people smelling me, and i just start smelling bad again. It is a mental problem, because my mind is causing the smell to come. Can anyone please help me, or give me some tips to get rid of this? If not, i don't think i can live with this anymore.
Avatar m tn it's odd that LSD did this to you, but some people it really does have a horribly negative effect on. Paxil is known as the best SSRI out there for agoraphobia and social anxiety. It had a paradoxical effect on me when I took it. Prozac made it impossible for me to sleep when combined with my ADD meds, but Zoloft helped a bit I believe. You need an SSRI for this... so I'd not take Wellbutrin or any of the tricyclic class of anti-depressants.
Avatar m tn I suffer from social anxiety. I haven't gone to a doctor but I self diagnosed myself, I have textbook symptoms. I recently lost my job and have no medical insurance, so I can't really afford to visit a doctor right now. I do take Kava Kava and St. Johns Wort, which helps calm my nerves a little. I try to control my attacks before they start because I know what types of situations trigger in public....large groups.....interviews....foreign situations.....etc..
Avatar m tn Interestingly practice of manners reduces anxiety in the social and marital situations. Yes we must keep it up when we are married. It makes a huge difference! More folks should try it.

Avatar m tn Go down fighting. Live free or die trying. I also see where people have social anxiety issues. They don't feel loved, don't feel beautiful, don't feel like anyone cares. Maybe they had an abusive life and don't know any better. Maybe they are just doing it for attention. Regardless, know this: I love each and every one of you and care deeply. Life is the most precious gift given to us. It is not meant to be wasted by wasting away.
Avatar n tn This spring and last (at the same exact time, when oak pollen was strong) I got the constant burping and anxiety. For me, taking some Tussin product helped somewhat. Anxiety and allergies seem to go hand-in-hand for me and can produce some weird symptoms. Sometimes it helps just to know that's all it is. Hang in there!

Avatar m tn Since a while, i'm dealing with extreme anxiety (panic with agoraphobia, OCD, GAD, social phobia), in the past it was easy for me to have the anxiety under control with an antidepressant med like Paxil, but since 2 years I start having weird symptoms mainly cardiovasculars and i'm now med sensitive, so can't take even a tinny dose of an AD to control my anxiety and i'm taking a benzo med call Klonopin at 7.
Avatar n tn i too have what feels like social anxiety attacks when around others. i am unable to work due the the adrenellan feeling and nausea and gagging feeling i get when i move to fast. puking at work is not cool then you have to clean it up and that makes you puke more. when i get really excited it happens and i cant control it. my wife thinks somethings terribly wrong with me. ha ha ha! well ive had my fun in life i could care less if i go now. i cant take this anymore.
Avatar m tn I've read that smoking raises blood pressure and therefore exacerbates anxiety/stress, so it's a no-brainer that the social-smoking needs to stop. I also read that it's a good idea to cut out caffeine (no more Diet Mt. Dew *cry *throwfit *repeat). So if you are reading this looking for how to stop anxiety and panic attacks after a night of drinking, the simple answer is to STOP drinking.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone has been on birth control pills and have suffered from anxiety or depression issues? I have been on the pill for 11yrs now and cant take how I am feeling anymore. I went on the pill for irregular periods, but since then I have been feeling blah, libido has decreased severely, I have sinus problems- I found out I have no allergies- so I think it is related to axiety, I worry constantly about everything; I get so nervous I get light headed sometimes.
168348 tn?1379360675 I'm sure most of us at one point or another in our quest to adjust to meds, or cure our autoimmune disease has experienced brain fog which is that lack of concentration, inability to easily recall words and/or thoughts, and just a spaced out feeling coupled with anxiety and/or heart palps! So share with us .. your most memorable memory ...
Avatar m tn Hi I have had panic attacks/anxiety for about 6 months now and in the past month they have gotten extremely worse. When i read your thing it felt like i was reading something i wrote.. i too am 20 yrs old and i weigh about 105. I lost weight due to the anxiety. I have been in and out of the doctor now for a month and like you , everything is normal. My symptoms feel like something is seriously wrong though and i also thought i had cancer, diabetes and everything else in the world!
Avatar m tn it's just not a bright idea. Stop it! Get help for your anxiety, if you would like to know how to deal with anxiety without drugs, there is a plethora of info here or on the net or your doctor to help you along. Lmk if I can help you with that. Best of luck to you little girl, I mean that. peace hope and hugs.
20184324 tn?1499260045 Beta blockers are really only been researched for social anxiety, and are used mostly when there are blood pressure or heart-related symptoms reported. Generally, by themselves, they aren't very effective. The most effective drugs are antidepressants, because when they work they work all the time and aren't technically addictive. Benzos work more directly on anxiety, but are addictive if taken regularly.
Avatar f tn Does this sound too simplistic? I guess I'm just saying that I fight my social anxiety by not worrying about what others think. Their thoughts about me are much less important than my thoughts about myself. I had one counselor who gave me two good pieces of advice: 1. Never say things to myself that I would not allow others to say to me. 2. Find 10 good things to say about myself, write then down, and recite them to myself every morning and every night.
