Sneezing with head pain

Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing with head pain

Avatar n tn Every time I turn my head to sneeze I'm met with an excruciating pain in the very back of my head and down my neck. If I turn my head left the pain is more to the right of my head, and if I turn my head right it's more to the left. It doesn't happen when I cough, only when I sneeze. I know it's probably nothing, but it hurts so bad! Any ideas?
Avatar f tn When I feel a sneeze coming on (which is often with this head cold), I have to basically hold my sides and pull my knees up to my chest. If I don't, I'm in extreme agony and sometimes end up in tears.
Avatar n tn I NEVER sneezed unless I had a bad cold. With W/D I had sneezing fits at least 5-6 times a day. The W/D sneezing stopped about day 6 for me.
Avatar f tn I woke up several times during the night covered in sweat and shaking. But now I cannot stop sneezing. My head feels like it got run over by a truck but I DO feel better!!
645800 tn?1466864555 I've been having a problem with sneezing for quite a while now. I'll have fits where I'll constantly sneeze for 15 - 20 minutes at a time. The sneezing fits happen for no apparent reason and throughout the year and almost daily. Nothing that I have tried seems to help at all. My doctors have also tried various things to help with this (Nasal sprays, allergy medications, etc.).
Avatar f tn With Chiari, when we sneeze we have shooting pain, ,but it is typically in our head ....I would think your pain could be a pinched nerve elsewhere....or a syrinx....but the herniated disk could be the cause. Not sure why they DX you with begin tonsillar ectopia when you clearly have symptoms.
Avatar m tn I do have a broken vertebra in the lower L5 region an upper-pars something or other that causes a lot of pain in my legs and back, but that's where the pain from sneezing goes away. Just wondering if this is something serious or not sense nobody I know has ever had any pain like thins at all.
408496 tn?1269606950 It almost feels like my ab muscle (in one location) is cramping when I cough or sneeze. I have been sick latley with a head cold or I probably wouldn't have noticed this at all. Just wondering if I am alone here .... I think it probably is because everything is moving around in there and my muscles are contracting - one just cramps when I sneeze and cough. Hmmm.....
Avatar n tn If you had a pending issue with the cervical spine or first lumbar vertebra the motion of sneezing may cause pressure on a nerve that effects your arms. That is purely speculation. If it is bothersome to you I would suggest that you make an appointment with your PCP and discuss it with him/her. Good luck to you. Please keep us updated on your findings.
Avatar n tn I was laughing with my grandmother last night and felt an unusually severe pain in the back of my head. The pain is located in the rear left and right side where the neck and head meet. I only felt this when I laughed. As soon as I stopped, the pain stopped. I started laughing again, the pain returned. I cant imagine what this could be.

Avatar n tn hi i seem to be having a sharp pain in my front right side of my head and it only happens when i get up or walk upstairs.Any sugestions what it could be?
Avatar m tn On the other hand, there are patients who experience similar pain after sneezing with sinusitis (sinus with infected mucus) and migraine. If you suffer continuous pain at back of head, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
Avatar f tn This could be due to exertion headache, which presents with head pain during or following physical or passive exertion, including sneezing, coughing, and even bowel movement. This is usually associated with migraine or cluster headaches. However, you need to have this checked by your doctor or be referred to a neurologist for proper diagnosis and to rule out organic diseases like aneurysms or blood vessel malformation. Take care and do keep us posted.

1155261 tn?1266690117 Hi There, I'm just curious - does anyone know why the sneezing is so frequent while going through the withdrawal? I'm in day 6 of codeine WD, and I've just been sneezing my head off! I've been sneezing a lot every day, and just now I sneezed about 25 times in a row, and I just wondered why it happens? I tried searching on the web, but didn't find anything overly useful. I still have a bad headache - and I'm not sure if it's going to go away.
Avatar n tn I am a 21 year old male with type 1 diabetes and for a period of a year or possibly longer I have been getting pain in my sternum when sneezing. I am reasonably fit and have had no shortness of breath. However, I am a smoker. Recently the pain in my sternum has become more frequent and constant but it hasn't been as sore. In my paranoid state the prognosis of lung cancer has been going through my head, nevertheless I am unaware of any lumps and have not coughed up blood.
Avatar n tn He had some minor pains before goign to work but insisted it was indigestion. He was with a co-worker in the factories office area and sneezed. Right after her sneezed, he fell over and was unable to be saved. Could the sneeze have been the fatal action? Curious as to if the sneeze had not occured, would it just have prolonged his chest pain and the inevitable were to happen anyways. was just wondering if the 'sneeze" expedited things? One more question thats bothering my mother.
Avatar n tn I'm on Benadryl all the time, otherwise I would have an itchy runny nose, sneezing, plus this sinus pain. I can't take ANYTHING for pain. I've been dealing with a kidney issue, so NSAIDs are out. I'm allergic to Tylenol, and I'm allergic to all opiates. When I was hospitalized with renal failure, the hospital had me lying down on a K-pad to deal with the intense kidney pain, because there isn't anything left that one can take for pain.
682891 tn?1226696230 I would say to just check with your doctor. Maybe you are somehow jerking your head when you sneeze and that hurts you. You could also try an antihistamine, something like Claritin, to stop the sneezing.
Avatar n tn i have severe pain across the top and front of my head every time i cough. it lasts for several seconds an i have a dull headache afterwards. what is causing this? this is been happening for a yr now every time i get a cough.
Avatar n tn has anyone else suffered migrane pain thru withdrawals? I had been feeling pretty decent and work around 4 with a horrible migraine and I haven't been able to sleep. I woke my next door neighbor who is a substitue teacher and she will covver my classes for me but my head feels like it is going to crack open. Also I'm sneezing like a mad woman. Every 10-15 seconds. up to 30 in a row. Do I have hayfever or is this part of withdrawal?
Avatar f tn My boyfriend has been having severe head pain on the left side of his head what could this be..
17175264 tn?1454329751 I had a hard time getting out of the deep sleep and was dreaming something weird. I took 2 gabapentin last night. I woke up feeling sick maybe with a head cold again. I have been sneezing rapid fire. I took some cold medicine at 2pm so hopefully that will help. I also feel bloated and full even though I just woke up. I weighed and that was disappointing. I'm hoping that is just the bloating and it will go back down. I'll cut back on calories today and hopefully lose the extra.
Avatar n tn I have burning pain in the back lower part of my head. Has been on the right side for months but now on the left also. It actually originated in the upper right side. The pain is constant (about a 4), with bouts of horrendous pain at times. I've tried to track it but there seems to be no rhyme or reason when it gets worse. Also, I just feel blah. By the end of the day it's WORK to put one foot in front of the other.
Avatar f tn I'm on day 12 today(no methadone) and the last couple of days I have sneezed my head off. I don't have allergies-but I'm sneezing at least 10 times right in a row. Still not sleeping but my body is definitely feeling less achy. The sneezing is easier to deal with than the aches-bring on the tissues!
Avatar n tn recently, i got a bad cold with a cough. almost every time i cough, i get this head pain. i was holding/walking my 12 wk old grandson last week and it happened and scared me enough to finally get into the doctor. he ordered a CT scan and i found out today it rules out aneurysm. although i am grateful it's not that......i'm still scared.
