Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing on dogs

sneeze

Avatar n tn Sneezing dogs, this time of the year, is a sure sign of allergies (especially if they're fine throughout the rest of the year). What RedHed1973 said... Benadryl. We actually give ours the regular kind (non-drowsy of course). Works like a charm and stops the itchy skin, watery eyes, runny nose, eye boogers & sneezing. Late April through August is allergy season for our girls, so we stock up on Benadryl big time during those months!
Avatar f tn *sneezing. Does anyone else have this problem?
973741 tn?1342342773 Hi. We have a 7 month old puppy that is all up to date on shots and bordatella, etc. I had to put her in a kennel while we were on vacation and since being home, her little nose is et a good deal and she is sneezing and making little sniffly noises from her nose. She eats, drinks, plays and is fine. But was just wondering if she has a little cold?? I'm not so much worried but curious. I expect that if it is a virus, it will resolve and she'll be back to normal.
Avatar f tn s important not to confuse reverse sneezing with other weird noises dogs can make which ARE a symptom of illness, such as persistent coughing, retching, or the strangulated sounds of a collapsing trachea. But if your vet doesn't see any reason to be concerned, that's a plus. I find the best way to handle a reverse sneezing episode (which does upset my dog a bit) is to gently stroke her and calm her without making any fuss at all.
694466 tn?1227677802 This blood test should be run annually on all dogs. Is your dog on heartworm preventive? When was the last dose that you gave? It is not possible that she contracted heartworms from the kennel. If your pet has not been on heartworm preventive, it would be a good idea to take her to the veterinarian for a blood test. Is she sneezing or coughing? Does she bring up any phlegm when she coughs? Any discharge from her eyes or nose? Let us know how things go....
Avatar f tn There are many human foods that are completely unsuitable for dogs, and one of the many reasons why dogs become ill is because of scraps of human food that is given to dogs. While we are not susceptible to these toxins, dogs are, as they have completely different digestive systems. Please take a look at my article on this subject so you don't give these foods by mistake. http://www.infobarrel.
Avatar m tn Hello all, I'm not sure if the normal sneezing, wheezing, puffy eyed symptoms qualify as severe, but I have always had the tingle sensation around dogs. My question is how effective is immunotherapy since I've been on it for approximately 1 year now?
Avatar f tn SHE HAS TO SNIFF MY EYES WHEN I COME HOME FROM WORK AND SHE RUBS HER HEAD ON MY FACE. SUCH COMPASSION AND LOVE FROM THESE LITTLE DOGS. AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH IT IS NICE TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. HER NAME IS 'FARMERS LABELLA BELLE' WE CALL HER BELLA. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Avatar f tn Now the last few months she has suddenly developed reverse sneezing. The reverse sneezing seems to be getting worse as well. She RS if she gets excited, runs around, plays, or even just doing nothing. We have her on Hydroxyzine two times a day (I think 10mg.), but it doesn't seem to be doing too much. We have tried her on Benadryl (dose recommended by vet), but that did nothing. I have suspected candida, from all the meds she has taken in her young life.
1622527 tn?1301644622 The only real advice I can give you is to take him to the vet for a thorough examination (Heart/Lungs, and bloodwork) That is the soundest advice I can think of, and if you could manage to find the cash to do that, one way or another....it would be a wise move. However, it is just possible this could be what is called "Reverse Sneezing". Google "Reverse Sneezing You Tube" and you will come up with videos of dogs with this.
Avatar f tn Im around dogs all the time, but I have never actually gotten welts or anything, only sneezing and stuff like that. I considered mosquito bites, but all of the welts are on one side of my face and all over the side of my neck. And I rarely get bitten on the face by mosquitos anyway. I've had the welts since friday, and I have no changed any face wash or soaps or anything. Not sure if anyone can help me, but im kinda desperate.
Avatar n tn My little pommie has the same problem. Like ginger899 said its "reverse sneezing". My put my thumb and fore finger on his snout and massage that area which helps him a lot. My Vet said it nothing to worry about.
871111 tn?1248992972 I certainly see alot of pugs with allergies (to food or pollen/dust), usually with symptoms such as scratching, foot licking, recurrent skin rashes and recurrent ear infections, and less commonly sneezing and reverse sneezing. It is certainly possible that your pug has an allergic cause for the ear infection and the brown stains on the jaw.

82861 tn?1333453911 He knew how bad I was feeling and hung right in there with me .Dogs are just the most loyal friends in the world .What on earth would we ever do without them ? I hope your babies are okay and feeling much better soon !
Avatar f tn Now our Cain Corso Mastiff/Pit Bull is sneezing blood from his nose too and lots of it. What can be going on. I walk him on a leash in my own yard as well. It seems too much of a coincidence to be one that both dogs have experienced this within a week of each other.
1101325 tn?1321253073 Dogs CAN get sick from other animals..especially the ones that live with you. If your Kitten has an upper Res. Infection, then it;s quite possible that your other animals, Dogs included can get the same thing. If any of them show signs of what your Kitten did then it;s time to treat them all.
Avatar m tn Have you started sneezing yet? Wait until you start sneezing. This is my 3rd and by far most successful shot at getting clean from a 3 year oxy addiction and I've been sneezing for 55 consecutive days. Each sneeze has been a different flavor. You will smell things that you never thought possible. I've smelled the entire solar system. Dogs, caribous and even Caligulia are jealous of me. The thing is....it's normal or so I'm told.
480331 tn?1310403529 She is one of the most high-spirited dogs I have ever seen, loves to play, give kisses, etc...I have noticed when I kiss her nose or touch anywhere near her snout, she yelps in distress. I try to open her mouth to see if her gums are swollen, but all appears normal. Speifically the region around her nose seems to be very sensitive. Any idea or suggestion what may be wrong? Thank you!!
Avatar n tn So, almost a month into this whole ordeal and they are still coughing/sneezing on a regular basis. Numerous times a day, probably several times in an hour, at least. The puppie's gets worse at night. Am I over reacting or should I travel out of town to a different vet? Does anyone know if it takes THIS long for KC to go away? Could it be something else?
3170462 tn?1344717552 Three years ago, my husband and I adopted two cats. They're brothers, Alvin and Simon, and were a year old when we got them. Before they came to our home, they lived with a friend who runs a Second Chance operation from her home. She found them as kittens (mum was killed by a possum) and weaned them. Both cats were well treated. When we first took them, our friend mentioned that Alvin had started sneezing. We didn't think anything of it. Cats sneeze.
1969477 tn?1327548419 I work at a dog day care/boarding & grooming service. The indoor play yards where the dogs go to the bathroom are mopped regularly with a very strong industrial bleach solution that burns all of our eyes terribly & makes all of the dogs go into sneezing fits. I have recently been feeling short of breath easily fatigued & have had several serious dizzy spells that made me unable to function. Could these symptoms be related to inhaling these bleach (& ammonia from the urine) fumes?
Avatar m tn My neck does get tight and my wife who is a massage therapist, performs deep tissue massages on me and it does help relive the headaches, but not the overall pressure I experience. I do suffer with seasonal allergies from pollen etc... but I dont have any other allergy type symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, running nose, congestion, etc...My question is, can one have sinus problems due to say pet dander and allergies without all the other typical allergy symptoms?
Avatar m tn I see a lot of people attributing the reactions people are experiencing from us is from a medical standpoint, like odor and bacteria. But has anyone here not thought about the possibility that people do 'fake' coughing and sneezing as a way to try to tell you or people around them something? Like, a form of non-verbal judgement? I always get the implication or vibe that people cough or sneeze to judge me.
Avatar n tn Temaril P is my choice for allergies cause it works....Also, The dose of steroids is very low in this one....Benedryl can be effective but sometimes sedating....The dose is 1mg. per lb. every 8hrs. Hope this helps....I hate allergy season!!!!!!!!! Karla P.S. I've also, heard about the bowl thing.
Avatar n tn Hello, These allergy symptoms that trouble you are due to allergic rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis is a collection of symptoms, predominantly in the nose and eyes, caused by airborne particles of dust, dander, or plant pollens in people who are allergic to these substances. Although many antihistaminics and decongestants are there but every drug has its own interactions with the different antihypertensives.
