Sneezing cat problems

Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing cat problems

sneeze

Avatar f tn We have a 15 year old cat that has had sinus problems since day one. We have tried many things, , and he only gets a month or two relief, if that. Our vets are at a loss, and has said that some cats just have this problem all their life and nothing seems to work.
Avatar n tn Changes in cats can be very subtle and they need regular examinations. Updating her vaccinations may help with her problems as well.
611067 tn?1458595083 My vet has given it to my cat but I wouldn't try to do it on my own. Here's the interesting thing about my cat. She's been sneezing a lot this last month too, and I took her in and they gave me some antibiotics just in case it was a bacterial infection like bronchitis or something, I guess. She just finished up the 10 day package and I noticed she's not sneezing anymore, though she still has the weepy eye. I hope you get answers soon!
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm bit desperate, nobody give me any answer and I asked a lot of vets until today, my male cat, now 8 months old, have often episodes of sneezing with pretty consist result which come out, was also with bit of blood sometimes, he was smallest of all, and first 5 months of his life he was out, we take it in our home when other cats was taken by neighbors, he got trouble with eyes and we cure him (eyes clustered).
Avatar f tn Now my cat is sneezing less...but still sneezing now and again so I am not sure what to think. She seems normal otherwise (hard to tell if she is having extra cat naps since she is a cat who snoozes). Maybe it was the cleaning products? If it is an infection, what would be the chances only she would have it and not my other cat? They both hang out together and both are indoor cats.....
Avatar m tn Prescribed Clindamycin for a whole month. His only symptoms after a day or two back on was increased sneezing (or reverse sneezing and some snorting) He was doing incredibly well after 1/1/2 weeks on antibiotic again, but we started having problems getting it into him. Called the vet on Friday Aug 18 and her assistant suggested holding the antibiotic over the weekend. Called on Monday and couldn't talk to vet until Tuesday afternoon. She suggested giving antibiotic only every other day.
Avatar f tn My one cat is 15 yrs. old, he is an inside domestic cat, very rarely goes outside unless he sneaks out, LOL...My question is in the past I had crushed up some vitamin C pills and put in with his can food, it actually seemed to help., but I was just made aware that this could be bad for a cats health, because it could cause kidney stones. Do you see any problems with an occasional use of vitamin C for a cold or upper respitory infection?
7532341 tn?1391697586 I have a retired persian show cat. He has the very flat face. He was a rescue cat and I have had him about 3months. I also have 2 humiliations, I bought as baby's. They are 9 years old and the rescue cat is 12. The rescue cat does not meow but he makes funny noises. He slurps his food up in a hurry then he is steady sneezing non stop and blowing his nose. No discharge of any type comes out. This goes on for quite awhile. He was starved to death and on deaths door when I first got him.
Avatar f tn Now the last few months she has suddenly developed reverse sneezing. The reverse sneezing seems to be getting worse as well. She RS if she gets excited, runs around, plays, or even just doing nothing. We have her on Hydroxyzine two times a day (I think 10mg.), but it doesn't seem to be doing too much. We have tried her on Benadryl (dose recommended by vet), but that did nothing. I have suspected candida, from all the meds she has taken in her young life. We are now giving her 1/4 teasp.
1836925 tn?1318365873 I have a 14 year old Persian, female. I have noticed lately that she is sneezing a lot and her nose is very stuffy and breathing very noisy. I'm wondering if this could be a result of the pushed in nose that Persians have? I do clean her eyes and tried to clean her nose, to no avail. I would appreciate any suggestions.
518117 tn?1429279873 I have talked about Paradise some on here. She is getting ready to turn 4. And what a sweetie she is. Paradise has been doing a lot of sneezing over the months. Otherwise, she is maybe a tad overweight, eats like a little pig, goes to her litterbox well etc. Has a beautiful shiny coat, too. Very healthy except for these sneezing fits. Paradise was a gunshot victim almost 2 yrs. ago. Lost one eye and hearing in one ear.
Avatar f tn Sometimes the allergy is to the cat dander, and sometimes to the hair itself. Whether the cat is an indoor/outdoor or just indoor cat, it might proove helpful if you give the cat a bath. Use a shampoo that is just for cats, or you can use a "no water" shampoo made for people in the hospital. This will remove any allergins from out of doors, dander, and clean the hair itself. Brush the cat regularly, and make sure the shed hair is off the furniture.
Avatar n tn Finally found a site with someone that can identify with my problems. I have the exact same symptoms as you. The violent sneezing episodes last all day and nothing seems to stop it. It is impossible to work or function on those days. I know people think I am "stretching" the truth when I have to call in sick to work on those days. I teach and it is impossible to be productive on a day when you can't stop sneezing.
Avatar f tn My other cat Kramer was adopted at the same time, from the same place, and had even more health problems in the beginning, does not get this eye discharge. What is wrong with my cat? Should I be concerned or is this just allergies? His eyes are not red and he doesn't seem to be bothered by anything else...no itching, no sneezing, nothing inflamed. He eats normal, goes to the bathroom normal, plays a LOT with his brother, etc.
Avatar m tn starting in jan. 2008 i strated getting headcahes when sneezing, coughing, bending over. for about 4 months they treated it for sinus problems,(which i did have surgery on about 15 years ago) but after antibodys and steroids did not work i went ear nose throat specialist and agin she tried a really strong antibody and streoits and ther was no luck ther eigher So she had a cat scan done and it was negative so she send me to a nerologists, he did a mri and it came back negative.
Avatar f tn That is what I figured. So it is going to be the cat who is sneezing. I think that should be the one who has the problem. Chances are this one may have an upper respiratory infection and is sneezing blood tinged mucus--which may mean they have a bacterial infection . This will need some antibiotics. Keep us posted, K?
Avatar n tn Kidney and liver problems can also cause skin problems. If it's allergies, you can try experimenting with her foods to see if there's any improvement. How long have all these problems been going on?
Avatar f tn only instead of sneezing it causes skin problems, unusually a small crusty scab that is very itchy, but can also be just an itch without the scab. Also if its food related chicken is the biggest culprit, try finding a food with no chicken or chicken by products....actually nothing with feathers. fish is a good substitute or venison....perferably a hypoallergenic formula avail through your Vet....
Avatar f tn Hi Linda, Probably cut back the Prednisone too soon. Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory and appetite stimulant . My cat has had asthma and takes a steroid in an inhaler so it goes right into the lungs not systemic. She is taking a drug call Budesonide right now for IBD. It keeps her eating without her getting sick and throwing up. She also does not seem to need her inhaler as much. Your cat may just need to take the Pren for a little while longer until the inflammation clears up completely.
Avatar n tn I have a persian/himilayan cat and it seems she always has a discharge from her eyes--mostly when she sleeps. Is it a common condition of himilayan cats? I have taken her to the vet and have medicine for her eyes but she still wakes up with black goop around her eyes. I wash it off with a moist cloth and that also inspires her to do some cleaning herself.
Avatar m tn For about a year now I have been dealing with some respiratory problems that I haven't been able to resolve. Basically, I have constant nasal congestion with post-nasal drip, which causes a lot of sneezing, coughing/ wheezing (as a result of so much phlegm), sinus headaches, and occasional sore throat. I have been to an allergist and tested low to very low an all allergins. I have seen an ENT and had a CAT scan.
372900 tn?1315515902 DH and I adopted a cat last summer. When we first got her she was lovable and would lay with us. At her vet appointment (a week later) we were told she needed 3 kinds of antibiotics for the week. One went in her eyes, one went in her ears and the last was an oral medication. We had to "kitty burrito" her just to get her to take the meds. Needless to say she was not happy. After that she has been really skittish.
1756384 tn?1312565754 Are you also perhaps wearing a light weight jacket to protect your arms when petting, and do you have furniture that is off limits to the cat (use scat cat or whatever) where you can feel it's a safe haven to sit? Has your vet (like the one I went to) ever offered to shave your cat during the worst of the shedding season? If you have to get rid of any animals, is there perhaps one that gives you a worse reaction on skin contact than another of your cats?
365714 tn?1292202708 My grandma and I have tried putting weights down on our cat's water dishes, but grandma's cat tries to splash it out anyway. We've had to restrict the water dishes to the bath tub and down in the basement. Another problem: We can't leave any water out anywhere on the table. Last Sunday I found the paper wet because one of us left a watering can and the cat overturned it.
541150 tn?1306037443 I will be given another cat instead if Dillan gets taken away from me. I do not want another cat. I want MY cat. How can I go against the law? I can’t. I can just hope my cat has scabs caused by playing with Abby. I will take him to my vet this Thursday with no delay see what they think of his URI. He sneezes a lot that poor thing. I’ll let you know once I find out. Thank you guys!!
Avatar m tn I have a 2 yr old black cat that I got from a local animal hospital after a couple in town brought her and her brother in to have the adopted. The mother cannot be caught to spay and she keeps having litters, so maybe this is genetic. Since day 1 (I got her @ 3.5/4 months old) she's had one issue or another.
Avatar n tn The most common mode of transmission is through DIRECT close contact with a sneezing cat. Symptoms include: sneezing, nasal discharge, cough, and pneumonia. 3. Streptococcus A bacteria (Strept Throat) is a human organism that can be spread to cats and than back again.
