Avatar n tn Hi, Pain in the scrotum following an inguinal hernia repair may persist anywhere between 3 months to 1 year after the surgery. Swelling in the scrotum following surgery should resolve within a few weeks, but if it persists, you need further medical attention. Pain in the scrotum following an inguinal hernia repair can be alleviated by wearing close-fitting underwear (do not wear shorts) and avoiding physical exertion that strains the abdominal muscles.
Avatar f tn i had hernia surgery in january, did you have keyhole or open surgery? i have had two hernia's one three years ago and the other this year, if i had it all over again i would have got a double done the first time, first one was keyhole second was open.
Avatar n tn Now 2 months after surgery, I do not have any feeling in nd my left testicle after lifting anything of weight over 5 pound or even to the touch causes severe pain. My doctor is now very concerned that I have no feeling in my one testicle and also says he may have to operate again as the pain in the left testicle may be caused because of choking off of the blood flow to this testicle due to the 'healing' may be too tight???
Avatar n tn My husband had hernia surgery in Nov 07. After many tests, we finally had a ct scan and now it shows a THickening of his bladder. He has had pain going from the bladder to the 3 holes they did for the surgery. Numerous medications and nothing works. Has anyone had this. Now dr said rarely is it cancer. Scared now.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the advice. It seems like they didn't know what to tell me. They just sent me home saying to take it easy. But how did you go about sleeping? Nothing can touch my belly not even the pillows I put between my legs. I was already not able to sleep just because of my pregnancy but now I haven't slept more than two hours straight in two days and I'm exhausted.
Avatar n tn Ever since I have been experiencing that cramping pain, giving it 3/10 score in the pain scale, and it is aggravated by coughing, laughing, sneezing. This morning I experienced vague generalized pain in my abdomen right after a bowel movement and was experiencing slight nausea and vomiting. what could this be?my docotr said that the pain in the right lower quadrant beneath the incision site is normal and that I should not lift heavy objects in order for it not to develop into a hernia.
Avatar m tn In 2006, I underwent emergency surgery to have an incarcerated right inguinal hernia repaired. Prior to that I lost my left testicle due to a severe strep infection. Before I went in for the hernia surgery, I was told that ther may be a risk of loosing the remaining right testicle. I refused to sign the conscent form and was pleased to wake up from surgery with my right testicle intact. One problem that I do have now, is that the right testicle seems to fixed high in the scrotum.
1281668 tn?1271379782 Hi Niki I am only about 3 1/2 months post op so I can't really tell you but I am curious about this also as I have heard from different ppl that symptoms seem to come back around the 5 year mark. For me, many of them didn't even go away but the ones that did have stayed away for now. I'm really sorry to hear that you feel they are coming back...after 3 surgeries you deserve a lifetime of relief!! I wonder if it would be good idea to contact your NS and get it checked out?
1415514 tn?1283155666 Hi all! 2008 I had the 1st surgery done to my lower lumbar spine area and It went well for about 6 months. After 6 months I started feeling acute nerve pain in my right leg only, numbness in my butt, toes, and calves. I couldn't bend down to tie my shoes or anything else for that matter, can't run, walk too much, swim, Nothing. June 20th 2010 I woke up Screaming unable to breath because of the pain, couldn't move or anything. My whole body was paralyzed by the extreme pain.
Avatar f tn One is a diaphram hernia that has reopened and causing a lot of pain. I am scheduled for surgery 1-10-08. The cause of the gerd was partly due to radiation I had in the chest area , underarm tumors for nonhodgekins lymphoma in 1987. At that time I had a laporotomy and spleen removal. I have a scar from naved to chest. When I had the nissin It was opened and I nearly died from complications after that surgery as my immune system is compromised. Now I need surgery to fix diaphram hernia.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you do have someone be with you the first 24 hours after your surgery to lift things, help you up to go to the bathroom if you need to, etc. After that, I did laundry, dishes and stuff. Good luck to you. Keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I still have incontinence, only it's different now. Prior to surgery, it was mostly stress-incontinence from sneezing, lifting, etc. Now it's when I'm getting ready to void. I'll have an urge to void and will spray urine before I'm siting at the toilet. I have found that if I "clinch" my urethra (like a Kegal, intending to stop the flow), it actually makes the urine flow instead.
Avatar f tn I had emergency bowel resection surgery in January of 2008. I had two pieces of my intestines removed, one a partially twisted large intestine (volvulous), which the doc said was hereditary and the other was an abcessed diverticulum pocket on my small intestine, which the doc said was unusual. I came through surgery and recovered well, so I thought.... But ever since then have struggled with loose stools, gas, bloating, and weight gain.
Avatar n tn I also read on the info sheet given from my doctor that a light pink or discharge could be expected for up to 6 weeks after surgery. I am thinking when I read this very light, maybe I would need a pantyliner. What I have had has been just like a period, minus the real good red blood. If I had the uterus taken out where is this coming from? Why is it accumulating and passing when I would have my period....Maybe I am in a hurry and it will just take more time to stop all together...
Avatar f tn I had a partial nephrectomy done back in November of last year. About 2 months after my surgery I was still having pain and the "buldge" showed up. Here it is September and I have debilitating pain and the "buldge" is bigger than ever. I have had countless CT's, Ultrasounds, and am on high doses of Loritab for pain which I can't take at work.
Avatar f tn I have suffered with all the above symptoms. I have had some relief after trying to be strict with no gluten and no dairy. Even though I have advanced degrees, I don't need a thousand "scientific Pub Med" studies to confirm what my guts are telling me. Two months after my surgery, my renown surgeon said ooops and we'd have to think outside the box.Or you're in the 5% that this surgery doesn't help. Food allergies -gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance,no dairy.
162948 tn?1205256292 now am scared because I see that a lot of women have not been able to conceive after the mirena IUD removal... pls help!!! I have had it for 18 months and after all the crazy stories, I am thinking of having it removed :(.
Avatar m tn During surgery, the lower abdominal muscles and connective tissue are released and reattached and some hip muscles are loosened. After successful surgery, many athletes at all levels have returned to their previous level of competition. .People who have had sports hernias occasionally continue to have ongoing lower abdominal muscle pain and groin pain, but at a lesser degree. The goal of rehabilitation is to return you to your sport or activity as soon as is safely possible.
329994 tn?1301666848 He has mentioned several times that he doesn't want to do any surgery because I am not having bleeding issues. I am not sure why that matters - I do know that he always does surgery when there is bleeding issues. He says I should be bleeding if I have adenomyosis, which the ultrasound indicated that I had and that is why the doctor who read the u/s recommended an MRI. For those of you who don't know, I have had an abdominal u/s to rule out gall bladder, kidney, liver, etc.
Avatar f tn I had a section in 2011 then hernia surgery in 2012 and 2013 then my appendix out and my other surgery scars hurt a lot but my section scar hasn't hurt more than just a little burn here or there...
1423357 tn?1511089042 Oct. 3, 2010 After 54 years of PSVT, I've had enough! I spoke to my PCP, and he recommended that I see a cardiologist. The cardiologist put me on a 30 day monitor which recorded some classic SVT events. I don't know if the cardiologist thought I was blowing smoke, having never recorded one of my events, but when he saw the first recording, he called me immediately and upped my dosage of Metoprolol which had been cut back at my request.
Avatar n tn I justified my addiction by telling myself that I needed this medicine t least until after my surgery. Well even after my surgery I continued taking these meds even though I wasnt really hurting. I finaslly owned up to my addiction and sought help through an Intensive Outpatient Program. i did this because I got to the point where I thought i needed this drug to get out of bed in the morning.
Avatar f tn But I don't remember talking to ns after surgery and my mom nor fiance remembered not much he said. Can't wait to talk to dr fri for 2 mo post op. But I'm not ready to return to work.
Avatar f tn It cured that problem but I had severe post surgical complications caused by a virus pushed into my lungs resulting in cardiac and respitory failure and stayed in ICU for a month. Plus due to knick during the lapros. surgery, I had 5 transfusions. I will go through surgery again if necessary but I am hesitant. Any suggestions much appreciated.
1337047 tn?1275917664 You will probably be well stitched and could just get up any way without harm to yourself, but you won't want to. Sneezing or laughing are not much fun the week after abdominal surgery -- if you feel a sneeze come on, grab a pillow and put it against your scar and press, so the spasm of your abdomen won't feel so painful. I am so glad you are having that darn cyst out. My hairdresser had one out that was the size of a cantaloupe!
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with gastritis and a small hiatel hernia. However I continue to experience pain under the right rib area which sometimes radiates to the right shoulder blade accompanied by severe nauseousness. I have had two sonograms which indicate no gallstones. Is it possible that I may in fact have a diseased gallbladder. My doctors have told me to continue on prevacid for the next three months.
279234 tn?1363108849 You see, I had 3 C=sections, complete hysterectomy, 6 days after surgery, my incision and sutres opened up, all the way through to the bowel, and exposed my intestines, then there was a couple of small holes that wouldn't close up, they went in and repaired that, then a year later, I develped an incisional hernia, from all of the surgery. So, my point is, I do have alot of pain in my belly area, cause on top of all of this I have alot of scar tissue.
Avatar f tn So pleased I found this website-after having several tests and after being told I was a unique case, I now know I'm not the only person with my problem, which is as follows... 9 years ago, I had a breakdown and afterwards moved into a place for 6 months where the lady let her dogs run all over the beds. I had cats in my childhood and was fine with them, until developing a cat fur allergy in the last 4 years of their life, and ever since then.
Avatar n tn Hi, i have been having the following symptoms, and i know something must be wrong because a person at my age (18) should be healthy as can be.
