Sneezing after alcohol

Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing after alcohol

Avatar f tn I'm 21, I've never been a big drinker, and after not drinking for a few months I started drinking beer again. I noticed that after about an hour of drinking, I start sneezing and my sinuses get all congested. It's enough, sometimes, to cease drinking all together, but other times, it's milder, and I can suffer through it, so to speak. Lately though, I start my sneezing fits about 20 minutes after drinking, and it seems to be getting worse. This does not happen with any other alcohol, but beer.
Avatar m tn I like to know if this sneezing and snoring that is every day thing now in my life after taking all medicine I know of, still the same. is there a better medication that I don’t know of that can do the magic for me, is this regular sneezing with my fast breathing that make me snore I think… is associated to asthma. Can any medic’s help me on this?
Avatar n tn I have had allergies and asthma all my life. When I have a sneezing/hay fever reaction, it's accompanied by the usual itching of palate and eyes, and my medications take care of it. But once or twice a month, I sneeze uncontrollably, hundreds of times, all day long, and nothing, not Allegra-D, not Claritin, not Benadryl, will stop it. And the weird thing is, this sneezing is NOT accompanied by the usual itching. When I have a "sneezing day," I am nonfunctional.
Avatar n tn There have been a few occasions where, in addition to the hives, I have experienced symptoms like wheezing or sneezing after having consumed a large amount of alcohol the night before, but it is the hives that occur the most consistently and cause me the most trouble. I have experimented with sticking to different kinds of beers or liquors to see if it was isolated to a specific type of alcohol, but I have had the same results regardless.
Avatar m tn what are the symptoms of withdrawels from codeine and alcohol? and is a burning sensation in the toes one of them? Thanks for any help!!
Avatar n tn Well, I've been a avid beer drinker for quite some time. I can relate to the Asian Alcohol issue discussed, after living in Japan for 5 years! They do have good beer, and it is much stronger than US beer! For several years, I've equated, or rationalized my increasing tolerance to alcohol with a rigoruous exercise program-rowing, exercise bike, lifting weights (which doesn't prevent me from gaining weight though).
Avatar n tn I too, am curious about an allergy to alcohol. I get a terrible headache after only a small amount of alcohol. My sinuses get stopped up and I will sometimes get vertigo and/or throw-up. I also get a red face and hot flashes. I am Scotch, Irish and American Indian descent. I take Relafen and wonder if this is related? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
363682 tn?1299492962 For around three or four years now, I have been suffering from headaches some two hours or more after the consumption of any amount of alcohol - although typically as few as two drinks upwards of any kind of alcohol. The headaches come on slowly but persistently and follow a line from the left side of my neck across the top of my head to just above the left eyebrow. They are not sharp pains but more of a constant 'throb' and can go on for hours.
Avatar m tn Runny Nose , sneezing , from 5-15 times consecutively, nasal irritation usually in the flesh separating the left and right nostril. 170935 tn?1225374676 Recently i have noticed that whenever i have a coughing or sneezing fit or my asthma is active i get what i describe as an itch inside my upper back. It is like i cannot scratch it as it is inside my chest/back. Is this itchy sensation coming from my lungs?
Avatar f tn The problem was, after about two years at that level (and it had taken me about a year to get to that level), I just didn't get anything from them any more. My body had become tolerant, so I decided to drink on top of them. That worked, but what a mess. Great when I was doing it, but dragging my sorry bones out of bed the next morning was a nightmare. I don't learn easy though and carried that on for about six months until I think my body said enough.
233488 tn?1310696703 As a generalization return to golf and tennis would be allowed by most surgeons after 7-10 days. There is a major risk of eye injury in racquet sports and your husband MUST wear safety sports glasses for his tennis game. (I have seen eyes blinded from tennis injuries). Quite some time back a survey was taken of retina surgeons about letting their patients return to full activities after retinal detachment surgery (much more extensive than what your husband had).
Avatar n tn He says he has never seen anything like this and after lots of probing regarding drug and alcohol use (none) stated that it was in my head. No other opinion needed. In the interm the pain has increased. I can now no longer move my arm up or down, lift anything, move my shoulder forward or backward. Breathing, sneezing, coughing hurt like hell. If I sit still I am ok. I have not slept in 4 nights cause I can not lie down. I am in tears of agony. My dr. gave me morophine for pain.
Avatar m tn of 12x30mg, I was prescribed these by my GP after a martial art injury for years, no questions asked, no alternatives sourced, In no time I was hooked to these meds and a typical 2 week prescription was only lasting me 2 days!
Avatar f tn This discussion is related to Problems after bowel resection. In February 2006 I had an emergency bowel resection. For no apparent reason, a large portion of my small intestine had twisted and the blood supply to my intestine had been cut off and died. About 40% of my small intestine (ileum and ileocecal valve) had to be removed. For the next 2-3 months I had horrible diarrhea after everything I ate. Within one week I went from 135 lbs. to 115 lbs.
Avatar f tn Hi Gemma07, Like yourself I tend to suffer from cold like symptoms after drinking alcohol, depending on how much. I used to call it my Wednesday cold as invariably by mid week I would feel full of man cold (serious form of regular cold:). I spoke to a bio-chemist and she reckons that its an antibody reaction wherby the antibodies see alcohol as an intruder or foreign body and attach themselves to in my case the lungs to fight off infection.
Avatar n tn I am also glad I found this post, since I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who had such a complaint, and it was just plain weird. After several years of putting up with these "flu-like" symptoms after aerobic exercise, I think I have finally found out what's going on. While scanning the web searching for answers, I came across a site that deals with digestive ailments, and their possible influences on your body.
Avatar m tn This is what initially triggered my HIV anxiety - however I can also attribute this to a heavy weekend of binge drinking and most probably acute alcohol withdrawal. (I am not a big drinker but this particular weekend was very full on). 2 weeks after this event I developed a cold, with blocked nose, coughing and sneezing. This subsided after a week or so but now a dry cough still lingers. I wonder if the dry cough is a symptom of ARS?
4793448 tn?1359256715 - Headaches triggered by strain/exertion/coughing/sneezing/bending over - Mental fog - Flashes of light in my vision - Blind spots - Dizziness, vertigo - Tinnitus - Poor balance - Intense neck pain - Intermittent numbness/tingling in arms and legs - Unsteady gait, constantly bumping into stuff - Episodes of rapid heart rate - Insomnia - Fatigue - Depression - Memory problems - Concentration problems - Difficulty with speech - Word finding - Sensation of my head being constantly under pressure
Avatar n tn Somtimes I would even have bleeding that would last a few day's. I would also have problems the day after drinking alcohol ie bad sinus headeache and no not a hangover I can tell the difference :) Apart from these two situations I would never have problems. Anyway Went to my ENT and got checked.
Avatar m tn I quit 3 months ago after smoking a pack a day for 13 years. I developed sinus problems about 4-6 weeks after quitting - really runny nose and sneezing. I then experienced a nose bleed and a lot of itchy/dry congestion. After two nose bleeds and some yellow mucus, I went to the doctor and was told that it was just allergies and that I needed Flonase. I've never had allergy problems, so I believe now after reading this thread that it is directly related to quitting.
Avatar f tn I am a 23 year old and I have had excessive phlegm or saliva every time after I eat or drink anything from the time I was about 10-11 years old. It always causes me to produce a "wet" cough (just one) after I eat or drink anything to clear my throat and then several times of just clearing my throat without coughing for roughly 30 minutes. There is no stopping the cough unless I want to choke on the mucus.
Avatar n tn It started out by happening occasionally but now it occurs after every shower and has started happening after getting out of the swimming pool. The itching is getting more intense and I'm afraid that it will continue to just get worse and last longer. Water is the only thing so far that triggers this. This is not a topical or dry skin itch, it's like my nerve endings are going wild inside my legs. Nothing seems to relieve the itch, it just has to "run it's course".

Avatar n tn How many days or week (s), am I pregnant if a get a BFP on my beta after a 5dt?
Avatar f tn I dont understand and is concerning, i have it like 4 times this year i believe already, after a few days it clears up, but after i leave my room to go to the other places of this smoke hidden house it often happens. What's the reason of the fever? My sinuses aren't hurting at the moment, but i have chronic sinusitis and they are often without a fever.
Avatar f tn Well tomorrows the big day. After tapering from sub since June I'm going for it. Praying hard the wds don't kick my *** too bad but I guess that remains to be seen. I'm scared though. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I HAVE to get through it. I've jumped in the past but from high doses of oxy. I know this should not be as bad but I hate wds of any kind. Still, I have to get through this. I'll update tommorow and I'm praying I have a short, non-torture kind of detox.
Avatar m tn I have no desire to use any pills at the moment, and I don't expect that to change. I was abusing hydros after 2 shoulder surgeries. Counseling and support from friends and family (who I was deathly afraid to talk to) has been amazing. My best friends wife came over and took my hydros from me, and basically helped save my life. I am lucky to have them.
