Sneeze with mouth closed

Common Questions and Answers about Sneeze with mouth closed

sneeze

Avatar n tn Shortly after taking antibiotic, nasal spray and cough suppressant, I was suddenly experiencing episodes of coughing, then a sneeze, watery eyes and inability to breath due to a closed airway. This was very scary. This mostly happens when I eat or drink just about anything but water. At first I thought it was a seasonal allergy (Aug-Nov) that just decided to visit me this year in a big way.
Avatar m tn Hi I normally blow my nose by pinching it(mouth closed), blow to create an internal pressure and release. If it is a little blocked it will clear by a swallow or something. Today, a morning sneeze in an attempt to remove the mucus from my slightly blocked left nostril resulted in a total blockage of my left ear. no amount of swallowing helps. It is like a block from the inside. Taking antihistamine relaxes the thing a bit, restoring some hearing.
Avatar m tn I've heard various explanations, such as the mouth serves as a release valve, or that if you just sneeze with your mouth closed and it will come out of you nose. The mouth being a release valve would make sense, except that such a small amount of air comes from my nose that I can hardly feel it. If I try to sneeze with my mouth closed, it just turns into a painful stifle. Given all this, I'm not too sure that the purpose of sneezing is to blast particles from the nose. What to you guys think?
Avatar dr m tn If you are a chronic mouth breather because of a stuffy nose, you're not alone. Do you feel like you can never get enough oxygen into your lungs? Do you feel tired all day no matter how much sleep you get? Have you tried various home remedies, over-the-counter medications or even prescription medications with no help? If you answered yes to any of the above, what you will read below will show you how critical it is to breathe well through your nose.

Rosenwasser, M.D While most people gratefully welcome the longer days and warmer weather of spring, more than 35 million Americans dread the itchy eyes, runny nose, and sneezing that comes with the season’s pollens and mold spores. Avatar n tn I had a cough drop in my mouth for bit of scartchy and itch throat when going to bed last night. Then I fell asleep with the cough drop in my mouth. This morning, when I woke up, I had this painful, itchy. burning throat. I thought I was going to have a cold, but there was no fever or any kinds of cold symtomps. It is painful and my throat and even my heart is burning together. Is because of the menthol that the cough drop has or what...?
Avatar m tn Bronchitis are treated with the same meds as Trachea Collapse. This is more of a dry cough with wheezing at times or both....With this, sometimes the Heart shows enlargement, but it is not a Heart Problem! It's from lack of oxygen through the respiratory system.....Steroids are useful as needed for allergy season that can be a trigger.....Dust mites in the house affect this alot (Especially in the winter when the heat is on and the house is closed up tight).......
Avatar m tn The spasm cough causes it all and when it goes away (usually 4 to 5 days) things are relatively normal although a normal cough stays with me for weeks after. I notice if I catch it early (which means I carry antibiotics with me all the time) it is not as nearly as bad. Doctors have diagnosed this as Asthma, chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma etc etc. All different specialists seem to have a different prognosis and the recommended pills over the years have not really done any good.
541150 tn?1306037443 The allergy doctor knew he wouldn't give up his cat so he said to at least keep the cat from sleeping with him and out of his bedroom and to wash his hands after petting the cat. We've noticed with Elijah that he does sneeze a lot so he may also have some allergies. I feel like we've always got cat hair all over the house no matter how much we vacuum! Just do the best you can to keep his sleeping area free from the cats and hair and do watch him when he's around the cats.
Avatar n tn My son had the same bad smell. I removed the sponge myself by inducing a sneeze and there after close his clear nose and mouth. I am relieved, it came out and the smell is no more. Thanks guys.
Avatar m tn I have several ailments, and after years of ignoring them I'm finally beginning to deal with them. Even tho' I'm now seeing doctors and specialists we all know it's good to get 2nd or 3rd opinions. I'd like your general advice on how best to handle these ailments. I'll describe what I'm doing already, with notes on which medication I'm taking and which conditions have actually been diagnosed...but if there is some extra good advice to be had I'm all for it.
2083688 tn?1334605261 "Suppressing a sneeze can be harmful, particularly to your ears... Studies have found that the air expelled during a sneeze travels at an amazing 100 miles per hour, and spews out up to 5,000 droplets, which may be propelled up to 12 feet in a single sneeze.... By clamping your mouth closed an pinching your nose shut, you force the "sneeze" into the eustachian tube (which connects the back of the throat to the middle ear) and then to your eardrum.
221025 tn?1332558946 Bring your chin to your chest and exhale as silently as you can through your closed mouth. Reward yourself with a nice, meditative Fudgesicle. • The Sleeping Hip. Lie on your side until you lose all feeling. Roll onto your other side and repeat. Namaste!
Avatar n tn If the infection site was thoroughly debrided and oroantral communication was properly closed, the defect tends to heal without consequence. However, you are probably advised that you can not sneeze or drink with straw, which behavior may impair healing of oroantral communication. It takes 6 weeks to 12 weeks to heal up completely.
645800 tn?1466864555 instead of me usually sneezing very quietly with closed mouth for all my live (mom sneezes the same way). My sneezes changed last fall sept-oct when I was in some kind of flair (alot was happening, but begun with tight throat) and then I´ve been having a very simular kind of flare, last for over a month now. I also have had the strange hiccup episodes since last fall, on and off, sometimes one hiccup and then few together. Very strange, not like a normal hiccup episode.
797873 tn?1265740119 I also get thursty If I dont drink water. I start to get a dry throat and mouth... If i drink anything else that is not water my breath gets worse.. please help!
Avatar f tn The throat is connected with the mouth as well as the nose and ears ( via the eustachian tube). The effect of force of sneezing with your mouth closed will easily be felt in any of these structures. This may also affect your tympanic membrane or ear drum leading to its perforation. Try to avoid closing your mouth to prevent any pain or any untoward effects.
Avatar n tn innability to balance with eyes closed ..cold sensativity ..jerky movements during all activities wich only recently started ..bladder has not grown since 6 months old and kidneys are underdeveloped...

1689801 tn?1333986916 All my live I have been sneezing like my mom, very quietly with closed mouth and little sound. Peoble who see us sneeze think it is a cute noice, but not now for sure :). Avatar m tn Basically, every morning (since the Summer began) I've been sneezing like crazy upon waking up. I'll sneeze as many as 4-5 times in a row, and as many as 15 times within a half hour. Throughout the rest of the day, I'm usually ok, hardly sneezing at all. It's really only a problem that occurs first thing in the morning when I wake up. The nasal mucus is also completely clear, which would pretty much eliminate the idea that it may be an infection of some sort.
Avatar f tn When you wash your wound (or get hubby to do it cause your tummy will be tender to touch and you don't wanna be pushing your leftover bump out the way to fel your scar) - until its closed up, make sure you wash it with unperfumed soap or just cool boiled water (to sterilise it) and cotton wool or gauze squares, and then pat dry, don't rub and let it air out for at least ten minutes a couple times a day, esp after cleaning it, so that it dries properly - if it's even slightly damp when y
Avatar m tn I frenched kissed a guy, gave him a hand job and put the tip of my finger in his butt. Can i get Hiv from any of these? I did not see any visible blood in his mouth or around the anus or penis. I didnt have any scars on my hand, or memorable sores in my mouth, but my skin was peeled alittle on my lips and fingers. I keep being told that if there were it is a risk of infection if blood was present in any way. It has been a month since dealing with potentially infected person.
1689801 tn?1333986916 Because about the same time I had tight throat, my sneezing change the way that I could not control it (used to sneeze with closed mouth, but at that time my mouth and tongue was all over the place when I sneezed) also I sometimes felt like I had GERD sometimes (witch I don´t have) without laying flat. It was a feeling like everything was open down there. At the same time (about) I was waking up one night, not being able to breath in(like that pipe was closed) and I was just coughing.
Avatar m tn On the left side open fixation was not performed, but closed reduction by means of intermandibular (or maxillomandibular) fixation was performed on both sides in which braces and rubber bands were placed on my teeth to keep my mouth closed without deviation of the jaw. After 10 days only guiding bands were left, and I was referred to physical therapy for exercises for removing the leftward deviation of my lower jaw. My appointment is only next week and I would like to start the exercises.
242516 tn?1368227505 You can protect yourself by avoiding those who cough, ask those who do to cover their cough (not with their hands, eg. with a mask), practice good hygiene with hand washing and don't touch your own eyes, nose and mouth. What's important is that if in the last week you have been to Mexico, San Diego, Imperial County or Texas, and come back with a flu like illness with fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, and possibly vomiting and diarrhea, call your doctor.
Avatar n tn As we rose above 1,000 ft a headache started with a sneeze. The higher we climbed, the more the left side of my face and head hurt. I grabbed my usual ibuprophen and expected to soon feel better. This was a 12 hour flight which climbed to 39,000 feet, so the climb went on forever.
Avatar f tn She seems to be OK other than the sneezing, watery red eye, and the coughing. She smiles, she does her little cooing and blows her little bubbles with her mouth, she talks to her mobile, and she is drinking, peeing and pooping fine.. she has not ran a fever at all. That's why I assumed it was an allergy... atleast that is what my mom has been telling me as well. When she sleeps she sleeps soundly...
Avatar n tn If anyone learns somthing please don't forget to share it with us all! Oh yeah one last thing I find that I don't sneeze much when I lie down- infact come to think of it especially when I'm in the bath??? What does that mean?
Avatar m tn WHENEVER YOU BLOW SNOT AND PHLEGM AND PUS OUT OF YOUR NOSE, ALWAYS BLOW IT OUT ONE NOSTRIL ONLY. Press the other nostril closed with your finger. IF YOU DO OTHERWISE, YOU CAN BLOW THE INFECTION INTO YOUR EARS OR THE PART OF YOUR NOSE WHERE YOUR SENSE OF SMELL IS. NEVER BLOW YOUR NOSE AS HARD AS YOU CAN. THIS CAN BLOW THE INFECTION INTO YOUR EARS OR THE PART OF YOUR NOSE WHERE YOUR SENSE OF SMELL IS. Blow very very very gently.
