Avatar f tn What are the side effects of smoking when pregnant? Did any of u girls smoke when u were pregnant? I'm 16 weeks and trying to quit but it a lot harder than I thought .
Avatar f tn Not to mention the fact thanks the all those toxic elements, your baby can be born already going though withdraw. Which create more issues in your babys health, mood, breathing, and growth.
Avatar m tn You haven't been smoking long so I doubt if you've built up congestion in your lungs. Do you have a smoker's cough? If you do then it may show up...but unlikely. I want to give you a little advice. Quit now...just quit while you still can. I started when I was 17....and here I am at 55 desperately needing to get off of them...but one addiction at a time. Do they look for smoking in the Navy? Sorry I'm kind of ignorant on this issue.
Avatar n tn You will need a detailed functional evaluation of your lung function and respiratory and cardiovascular function since chronic smoking can lead to various ill effects. You could be suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease like bronchitis or emphysema, heart attacks, strokes, cancer oral cavity and cancer lung. Consult a physician for the needful assessment so that any serious illness is screened and caught early for prompt management.
Avatar n tn I also smoked tobacco on and off for that long of time. I want to know what smoking marijana does to your heart? Does it do the same thing that tobacco does? I had a heart attack in Dec. of 2008 and a triple bypass in Jan.2009. I know that diet, lack of exercise, and stress play a big part in heart dease. Please help me find some answers. Thankyou.
Avatar n tn Im sure your lungs will thank you later. Smoking anything, of course, is detrimental to your lungs. Second, Marijuana abuse alone does NOT cause any physical abnomalities to your brain, so the answer to question number two is "no scan". Marijauna/THC acts as a Serotonin reuptake inhibitor, allowing you to have higher serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel good chemical. Antidepressants that fall into the SSR catagory do the same thing.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I developed asthma after being around 2nd hand smoke for a few months. Does this mean that my lungs will get worse with time? What can I do to improve my lung function? thanks very much!
Avatar m tn I am still undiagnosed and as it seems will not be any time soon, even if I have a lot of symptoms. What I wanted to ask is, I have read that smoking can cause more often relapsing or going into progressive form of disease. I am ex smoker considering cigarettes (commercial ones which you inhale in lungs), but I occasionally smoke Cuban cigar which you do not inhale but you just puff into your mouth and out. I cannot find anything for them.
Avatar m tn Have you had a pulmonary function test done? They can check to see how well your lungs are working. Perhaps you've developed a sensitivity to that particular brand of cigarette or they've "improved" it. LOL It reminds me of when my lungs react to certain things and clamp down. I have asthma and it feels like what you describe. The chest pain is more of a dull ache though. Hope you get an answer. Breathing is pretty important.
Avatar f tn I would have thought that maybe you would already have had a bit of a smokers cough? I do know that cigarette smoke temporarily immobilizes the cilia in your lungs, which generally do the job of sweeping out the junk from your lungs. I can see the shortness of breath being due to the extra mucous being stuck in your lungs. However if this doesn't clear up say by 8 weeks, then perhaps it would be an idea to see your doctor, as there maybe an underlying lung condition.
Avatar f tn I stopped smoking for almost a year, unfortunatly I started back. About two or three months after stopping I started coughing a lot and having trouble breathing. My lungs were trying to get all the 'crapout' from years of smoking. It shouldn't last long, your lungs are probably just trying to repair themselves. Congrates!!!
Avatar n tn Marijuana smoke contains some of the same ingredients in tobacco smoke that can cause emphysema and cancer. In addition, many marijuana users also smoke cigarettes; the combined effects of smoking these two substances creates an increased health risk. Marijuana smoke has been found to contain more cancer-causing agents than is found in tobacco smoke.
Avatar f tn I suspect that your symptoms are due to a combination of factors including, 1) your going back to smoking, your lungs and for that matter your entire body system jolted by the stimulation and irritation, 2) by stress and anxiety, and perhaps 3) the disappointment of going back to smoking.
6763842 tn?1385390664 You still smoke, you are still absorbing nicotine into your lungs/blood stream, just eliminated the tars. Vapor smoking is banned in all hospital grounds and smoking bans include your new vapor smoking in public areas in my state. If you don't believe that it is addictive, just quit and see how you feel. Millions and millions of us have quit smoking, I urge you to find a way to get the monkey off your back.
Avatar m tn smoking isnt the only way to get THC into your system, thats a common misconception. theres edibles, sprays, lotions, lip balm, pills.. just about anything you can think of for those with a smoking condition. i see it as a very personal choice since marijuana affects people differently. in my experience, i've found that by smoking it, you're in immediate control over your dosage, and can regulate how much YOU need and/or want.
Avatar m tn Long-term use can cause psychotic symptoms. It can also damage the lungs and the heart, worsen the symptoms of bronchitis and cause coughing and wheezing. It may reduce the body’s ability to fight lung infections and illness.
Avatar f tn ugh. Way way bad for you and your lungs and heart and so many other things. Don't do it, chance of death there too Be smart!
Avatar f tn Can you elaborate on the 2 cysts found in your lung? Indeed, smoking is a risk factor and smoking cessation is important in the management plan. However, further tests may need to be done to evaluate these cysts. It is best that you discuss the result with your doctor for proper management. Your medical history and physical examination are important considerations.
Avatar m tn It is good to know that your husband has decided to stop smoking.
Avatar f tn It also decreases oxygen flow to your lungs and brain. That alone can make you feel light headed. I get the feeling from your post that you are an occasional smoker? If so, give it up now while you can...it's not worth it. I've just spent 10 horrible days fighting this addiction.
