smoking

Avatar m tn All in all you have not been smoking that long, maybe three years. That does not mean that the pain in your chest is not related to smoking, but is more likely due to some other cause. Go to your doctor and have him examine you. It could be angina, for instance.
Avatar m tn at this point the only thing that the cigarettes are doing, is burning your lungs (which affects tidle volume), hampered your ability to taste slightly and may have caused a slight increase in blood pressure. cigarettes are smelly, i never realized how bad they smelled until i stopped. you don't wanna be smelly.
Avatar f tn There is no safe amount of smoking you can do if you are pregnant. Smoking during pregnancy affects your health as well as the health of the baby both before and after its birth. The nicotine, carbon monoxide, and many other poisons from a cigarette are carried from your lungs into your bloodstream and go directly to your baby. Smoking while pregnant will: Lower the amount of oxygen and nutrient available your growing baby. Increase your baby's heart rate.
Avatar f tn Smoking is known to increase fibrosis. However, it is not a reason not to treat. It would be best for your overall health to quit but if you can't, find another doc to treat you.
Avatar f tn It’s a combination of factors. Your age, health, blood pressure and etc… It is important that you discuss the smoking issue with your Obgyn, so you can find the safest way of quitting. Smoking itself can be harmful to your pregnancy and there are safe ways to come off, but it should be done under your doctors supervision at this time. Best of luck!
Avatar m tn Dr, does drinking the few days prior to trying to concieve hurt the health of the sperm, morphology, quality etc. Can this in turn cause any birth deffects in the embryo/baby. If a baby is concieved, should we go through with the pregnancy. Avatar f tn Make an anonymous call to child protective services. Whether the marijuana affects the child or not it's still illegal and does slow down the cognition of grown adults so only god knows how it reacts in an infant.
Avatar f tn In addition smoking also clearly affects your pulmonary status and has potential affects when undergoing general anesthesia. It probably takes a year or more after discontinuing smoking to put any individual in the same status as a non-smoker.
1910360 tn?1324219798 Check with your dentist and if you do smoke draw the smoke in gently Part of the problem is that the simple act of smoking can also cause a vacuum in your mouth and disrupt the graft. After 23 days that shouldn't happen though. Concern would be more with constriction of blood vessels due to the nicotine. Good luck!
Avatar n tn if your concerned about the affects of smoking on your baby for any mom that smokes quiting 18 months prior to concieving is the ideal time for there to be no negative affects on the baby. now that you are pregnant i think if quitting cold turkey is hard for you then the stress of that on you and your baby is worse for the health of both of you then having a smoke. i wouldn't stress i have never known anyone who has smoked to have had any problems with their child's health.
Avatar n tn get a chest xray for starters see a lung dr. your going to get emphsyma for sure if you keep smoking you need to quit or it will quit you no joke.
Avatar m tn My mom smoked with me and I was 4 weeks early, have asthma, chronic ear infections, and weighed less than 5lbs. I actually did a research paper on the affects of smoking and pregnancy and while some babies may experience minimal affects or some moms might "think" their babies are completely healthy; what they don't realize is that the asthma or allergies their child has is related to smoking while pregnant.

Avatar f tn s what I thought, plus the affects of smoking while pregnant seem to be way worse than the withdrawals to me..
Avatar f tn Smoking has been linked to low birth weight and preterm labor. Both of which would be far more detrimental to your baby than any possible affects of quitting. I speak from experience - I smoked throughout my first pregnancy. My daughter was born at 40 wks 3 days via emergency c-section because there was a lack of amniotic fluid - as in NONE. She was breech and suffered from Intrauterine growth restriction. She was full term and weighed a mere 4 lbs 15 oz.
Avatar n tn So why is it then, that when you are applying for life insurance and you tell them that you have quit smoking, they will wait exactly one year, come back, and do a mouth swab to see if you have indeed quit smoking for that full one year? Hubby just applied and two different companies sent nurses over. Both nurses told us that up until one full year has passed since your quit date, the swabs they use will detect nicotine. If they find nicotine at that point you will have to pay a higher rate.
Avatar n tn So my brother had his friend over and she brought her three year old son and i saw that they were smoking weed and i said without thinking "you brought your kid here?!" And i think i might have offended her. I feel bad for saying it but i just cant see that being right. I was a smoker before i got pregnant but pregnant or not i dont ever see myself doing that unless its on my own time like when shes staying the night with her father ya know? was i wrong for saying anything?
1377258 tn?1279316070 You should probably get to your dentist for a professional cleaning of your teeth. Smoking makes the gum shrink back and you may now be accumulating plaque around the gumline of your teeth. This would make the gums irritated and they can easily bleed. It can also attribute to bad breath. A simple cleaning may be all you need. Please call your dentist. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I am 12 weeks and cut it down to 5-6 cigs a day the last month. My situation is very stressful abd has been very hard to quit.Im so nervous it affects the baby's development. Is it possible?
7366593 tn?1400009626 Not only is the action of smoking itself is detrimental to the health of the baby, but we do not know how cannabis intake can affect the developing brain.I understand that smoking is extremely addictive, but there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!). That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent.
Avatar f tn But being a smoker can have negative effects on your health in general, which affects all aspects of your body to the negative, and of course drinking or smoking when pregnant will affect the baby once it is indeed implanted and getting its blood supply from you.
Avatar f tn m ready to quit for the health of myself and the new baby. If anyone could give me your opinion, it would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for reading!!
Avatar f tn The opacities can be caused by chronic infections like tuberculosis, sarcoidosis and due to occupational lung diseases like silicosis, asbestosis etc. Tuberculosis can produce typical changes in X rays and typically affects the upper lobes. This further correlated with blood tests, which show a raised ESR and lymphocytes. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I find that very hard to believe. I think the affects of smoking go away with a certain period of time, so one a month will not "build" up into a problem. I honestly need a doctors opinion on this but maybe some help from the public will be good as well. Please don't post saying that i will get addicted! i know these facts already as iv'e done alot of research on the topic. Don't post saying the kinds of cancer i can get, i know that already.
Avatar f tn I respect your hook question, but Tabasco is nicotine which calms you because it affects dopamine level in your brain. It also reduce oxygen carrying in blood stream temporarily which slows down your thought patterns, making you relax. Your brain and body do feel the effects of the drug nicotine in the tabacco. Your baby will feel it to, and it may or may not effect brain developement. My mom had 2 sisters. Of the 3 mommys, one smoked cigarettes and drank a little during pregnancy.
