Avatar m tn My mom smoked with me and I was 4 weeks early, have asthma, chronic ear infections, and weighed less than 5lbs. I actually did a research paper on the affects of smoking and pregnancy and while some babies may experience minimal affects or some moms might "think" their babies are completely healthy; what they don't realize is that the asthma or allergies their child has is related to smoking while pregnant.

Avatar f tn Smoking has been linked to low birth weight and preterm labor. Both of which would be far more detrimental to your baby than any possible affects of quitting. I speak from experience - I smoked throughout my first pregnancy. My daughter was born at 40 wks 3 days via emergency c-section because there was a lack of amniotic fluid - as in NONE. She was breech and suffered from Intrauterine growth restriction. She was full term and weighed a mere 4 lbs 15 oz.

It also reduce oxygen carrying in blood stream temporarily which slows down your thought patterns, making you relax. Your brain and body do feel the effects of the drug nicotine in the tabacco. Your baby will feel it to, and it may or may not effect brain developement. My mom had 2 sisters. Of the 3 mommys, one smoked cigarettes and drank a little during pregnancy.

Avatar f tn I just wanted to say that it is good sometimes to realize that this is in our mind. From your last post, I know that your husband still finds you attractive (as in he is chasing you around the bedroom!). So this is how you see yourself vs. how he sees you or the world sees you. Do the above things but I have found that doing things from the inside out works even better. That means if there is something that makes you feel really good about yourself, do it.
Avatar m tn With these results, you’re very unlikely to have any clinically significant lung damage from your years of smoking. As for the X-ray, “inflammation” and the diagnosis of chronic bronchitis are not made by the appearance of X-ray changes. Great that you quit smoking. Don’t ever smoke again.
Avatar f tn It’s a combination of factors. Your age, health, blood pressure and etc… It is important that you discuss the smoking issue with your Obgyn, so you can find the safest way of quitting. Smoking itself can be harmful to your pregnancy and there are safe ways to come off, but it should be done under your doctors supervision at this time. Best of luck!
Avatar m tn Ultrasound of the right breast reveals a hypoechoic, irregular structure over the area of palpable concern. This is entirely non-specific in appearance. It does not have the appearance of a usual carcinoma or benign cyst. It most likely represents an involuting cyst or complex cyst. Correlation with diagnostic mammography is recommended presently, bilaterally." Outside of the fact I need to do an Ultrasound, what does the above statement mean ? I am a 35 y/o male and am very worried.
