First possibility is of a fungal infection of the belly button which may produce foul smelling yellowish or black discharge from the fungus and belly button is a humid place for fungus to thrive. If however the discharge is present throughout then possibility of a fistula is there where an abnormal passage forms between one organ like intestines and the outside of the skin.
If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a gynecologist.

I am a 40 yr old woman who has noticed a horrible odor and discharge coming from my belly button. there is also well defined redness in the naval itself where the discharge is coming from. The discharge itself is milky and clear but the odor is breathtaking. I also seem to have a large rash with odor in the fold of my stomach at the pubic level (My belly hangs over from previous surgeries and twin pregnancy.) My urine is also cloudy and smelly. I have stomach pain around the naval.
Now and then lasting days for weeks at a time I experience a smelly brownish itchy discharge from my belly button. Starting with an itch, redness (which only lasts a day) followed by brown crust ring around naval and foul smelling discharge inside of naval. I have used peroxide, anti fungal cream, triple antibiotic ointment, alcohol.. nothing helps but time it seems. But it’s gross and not frequent, I shower daily and dry thoroughly..Any help?
yikes. Belly discharge. Is it smelly at all? What color is it? And how long ago was your tubal? What I'd be concerned with is one of the risks of the procedure which is improper healing of the incision. If it has any odor at all, it is very likely infected. But either way, I'd get it checked hon. Let me know.
A couple months back (not sure how many) I started having problems with my belly button. The problem then was it was very red and irritated it and a smelly brownish i'll say discharge and it was itchy. I was going to see a doctor but i was told it was a yeast infection. I cleaned it out everyday with antibacterial soap, it then went away. So now a few months later its back but this time there is no discharge its not red or itchy and does not smell.
A smelly belly button is a common complaint, not so much from just pregnant women but everyone in general... its because it is normally missed when cleaning and smegma, oils, bacteria can build up in it, my guess is you just noticed this because your belly button just popped out, making you more aware of the smell...

Recovery was going fine until I noticed yesterday that I have a pus-like discharge in my belly button where the stitches are. It's very light (quantity-wise) but after I wipe it up, it comes back. It's hard to tell where it's coming out of since it's deep in my belly button. I spoke to a nurse and she said as long as there's no pain or fever, I shouldn't worry but it's my understanding that any unclear discharge is a bad sign. Any advice would be appreciated.
That sounds like some kind of infection. You need to see your doctor and seek treatment.
For the last several years (I have no idea when this started, I just began noticing it), I have had yellow, crusty discharge coming from my belly button. It is not continuous, but rather comes and goes every week or so. I am a very clean person and bathe/shower regularly, and I am not very overweight (5"4' at 130lbs), so I don't believe it is lint or dried sweat or anything, It smells very bad, and is sometimes so strong that I can smell it through my shirt.
t see chlamydia on some discharge she gathered from the speculum that she put in me and that spotting, smelly discharge, green discharge, and lower abdominal pain could just be premenstrual signs. (although I have had these symptoms for around 2 weeks now and my period hasn't been regular and have yet to come in the last month and a half).
