Common Questions and Answers about Sleep problems one year old

sleep

Avatar m tn I have a 12 year old and a 13 year old that are having sleeping problems. They go thru phases where they are afraid to sleep alone. They are afraid of aliens and being kidnapped. Usually, after an hour or two of trying (and suffering) they break down and ask to sleep on our floor. Should we just make them sleep alone? I am afraid they will lay in bed for hours shaking in their beds and not getting a good nights sleep. Should we just let them sleep on our floor until they grow out of it?
Avatar n tn My 7 year old daughter, who does not have ADD/ADHD is struggling to fall asleep most nights. We have tried soothing bedtime routines, relaxation techniques, & limiting sweets before bedtime. What are the causes of this insomnia & what are some other ways to deal with this? I am extremely frustrated as she come out of her room multiple times each night.
Avatar f tn Other than the TV information fears and wanting to sleep with one of us he is doing well ---- enjoys schools (no behavior problems), plays football, has friends, speaks openly of his father having died of cancer. He does not seem to have any other issues. How do we deal with this ?
Avatar f tn Ahhhhh, isn't three fun?? LOL Many kids can be a handful at three. It is very encouraging that he is behaving at school and things are going well. At least you don't have that to worry about! So, we have to think about what is going on at home. Well, you say he isn't sleeping well and that definitely is a tough one for behavior. My kids act their worst when tired or sick. So, I'd start working on making his bedtime earlier.
Avatar f tn It seems just like yesterday in some ways, yet I amazed at how far we have come in a year. If you would have asked me a year ago if I thought we would make it through I would have told you I am not sure, I want to but I just can't seem to get over it. But we are closer today then we were even before this happened. I do not think it was a good thing but good came out of it. We have learned a lot about each other and enjoyed rediscovering our love for one another.

Avatar f tn My two year old just had a sleep study done and it was discovered that she has PVC's. I wasn't told how many or any information but was referred to cardiologist for evaluation. I can't find ANY information on a child this young having these. Should I be concerned? She was adopted and we have no medical history. There was no prenatal care so they would not have caught any heart problems during ultrasounds etc. Any info would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Finding the root cause of his segmented sleep is important, as sleep deprivation can cause meory loss and disjointed thinking, and you don't want him to get misdiagnosed.
Avatar m tn Well, in my books, if a mother decides to not want her 8 1/2 year old son to sleep in the same bed as an adult, then, the conversation with me would end there, regardless of what i thought. The big red flag here seems to be a problem that the grandson is so adamant that he sleep with his grandpa, and for that reason i would think that running it by a child psychologist on how to aptly handle the boys frustration at not being allowed to sleep with his grandpa or accept his mother's rules.
Avatar f tn So sorry to hear about your sleep problems. I discovered that I sleep so much better on a plain old blow-up camping bed. The one I use is the store brand sold at Wal-Mart. The single costs about $11.00 and the electric pump cost $25.00. Since I sweat like crazy when I sleep, I had to double up on the quilted mattress covers. I blow it up to a comfortable firmness ( about 7 on an 1-to-10 scale) and I usually sleep comfortably.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone. I'm a 20 year old male. I was doing quite well until about the last two weeks of December 2015. Our fridge started to act up and started making very loud banging noises. The noise started to really bother me at night (not anyone else) because the fridge was right under my room and that's where the noise was the loudest. Every night when I'd go to sleep I started getting pretty anxious because I was worried about how the sound would affect my sleep.
Avatar n tn For me and taking into consideration what this dear child may have been through I would make up a little bed beside mine ....
Avatar f tn Not really sure where to start with this. My 4 year old son started preschool this year. He was a very well behaved kid up until about a month before that. He was potty trained and only got in trouble for small stuff once in a while. About a month before school started he started wetting the bed and pooping in his pants. I have cut off all liquids after super and he has to go potty before bed and spend 5 minutes tying to poop on the toilet before bed.
