Avatar f tn I'm 67 and for many years I use self hypnosis to fall asleep. Also sex of any type is "natural" sleep aid.
1073929 tn?1314753990 I have MS and have had problems sleeping for about 9 months now. I tired going to sleep at 9, then 10 and 11 but no matter what time i go to sleep i'll wake up at 3 or 4. I have tried 4 different sleeping meds and none have worked. Is this a normal symptom?
633403 tn?1281175065 Has anyone tried to use hypnosis to stop drinking. I have downloaded a few hypnotic sessions to help. But apparently it is not working because I am still drinking. If someone has one good to try I would love to know. By the way I have gotten back into AA. I find after a meeting I want to drink because all we are talking about for an hour is alcohol.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried hypnosis for weight loss? So many diet drugs interact with Synthroid so I though maybe it was worth a shot. Just curious! (Ive gained 50 lbs since TT and quitting smoking a year ago) Yikes!!!!!!!!!!
1032898 tn?1258598707 I think hypnosis can be very helpful, at the margins at least, for people in pain. I have used hypnosis, self-hypnosis, relaxation techniques - they all seem to be about the same, to get to sleep despite annoying pain that would otherwise keep me up. I used to have my hypnosis routines on tape (that's how long I've been doing it), now I have some on my ipod that I got for free at itunes under podcasts. I found some for sleep, relaxation, and pain control.
Avatar m tn But when I returned home on semester break (December 17). My anxiety and sleep issues reduced. But still I know it affects me since whenever I am alone in my room I get slight anxiety thinking "I might get a heart attack". A midst all these I started to get headaches. As in sometimes I feel a nerve at the right side of my head faces a lot of pressure and it hurts. But it stays only for a little while and it goes away.
Avatar f tn once you get out of the bath listen to meditation music and it will put u to sleeplol or listen to sleep hypnosis that's what I have to do every night lol
Avatar n tn Have you had a sleep study to see if there is something causing your broken sleep? Some meds can disrupt sleep too.
Avatar f tn I vent, she teaches me strategies to deal with all the above. She also is licensed in hypnosis. I have learned self hypnosis. I can put myself to sleep, I can use it when in acute spasm. I use it to bring my anxiety down. I use lots lower doses of medication because of it which is good for my liver. I also have changed my diet gradually since 2007. My over all health is better which help the MS. Up until 2007 I had terrible insomnia which led to more pain anxiety.
Avatar f tn Hello Dr. Gould, I really hope you or someone out there can help me. I have severe PTSD, bipolar disorder and insomnia. I have had mental illness since I was a child (I'm 55), and haven't slept without medication since I was 12 years old. The problem is: I am afraid to go to sleep. If I start to drift off, I jump up in sheer panic and terror! I don't even know what it's like to sleep like a "normal" person.
Avatar f tn Once I find help, I plan to refer him to the State ethics board. I initially went to him due to sleep issues (which I still have). He writes a script for Tramadol, which is the only reason I go back. He has never recommended a sleep study or any other treatment other than more and more pills. I've told him I believe in the mind/body connection and (as I said) he still cannot or will not recommend a therapist. Says he does not know of any.
873416 tn?1250335346 Well I was pushing 30 and I wanted to quit smoking before I started trying to conceive so I heard of a hypnosis center that offered a free consultation. I decided that me and my husband would go and see what they had to say. The program was a seven week program with alternating weeks of hypnosis therapy. I would then have a copy of the session to listen to twice a day - right before I got out of bed in the morning and right before I went to sleep at night.
Avatar n tn I am a diabetic, have a ileostomy, gas, gas gas!!!! Lately can't get to sleep, wide awake, legs start twitching then it goes up the whole body. Other night didn't get to sleep till 5.15am. Have had this on and off over the years but nothing like now. Have lots of health issues and been battling these for years. Avatar m tn Hello, I have had sleeping problems for the last 15 years but I do not have sleep apnea. Rather, I have trouble attaining deep sleep. I wake numerous times in the night and have trouble getting back to sleep. I take occasional Zopiclone and also over-the-counter magnesium based sleeping pills. Without this medication I only sleep adequately 50% of the time at best. I have a very low stress job so have been able to cope. However I am now changing roles and really want to get this sorted.
Avatar f tn I have a chronic sleep disorder that now means my husband and I do not sleep together. I cannot get to sleep and when I do I usually awaken after just 2 hours. Bed time has become a very anxious time. I have and am still using 5HTP, melatonin, chamomile tea, valarian, and OTC medication. I have stopped drinking in case this has an effect although alcohol will get me to sleep when I am desperate. I awaken irrelevent of what if anything I have taken.
1315039 tn?1274218541 I have had insomnia my whole life.. Now that I may be pregnant, sleep aids and alcohol are completely out of the question.. I was writing music for our Church all day and my husband would like to go to bed.. and for me to go to bed - because we have to wake up at 7:00 AM for Church in the morning.. I have to give some music to the music organizer and be well rested to be able to speak to her.. All I can think about is the music running through my head over and over and over..
620048 tn?1358018235 and i should have added RANT..I went to a pulmonoligist to test my breathing and my sleep problems. Well, the inhalers are helping with my asthma. But he seems to have no answer for the sleep problem. He gave me requip for RLS because my feet move a lot when i sleep. For God sakes, i know what RLS is, i have experienced it for a long time off and on but i have not had it for a long time now. I told him that and he had nothing to say.
1088646 tn?1256949923 Ambien is generally meant for short term use. The FDA approved sleep aide Rozerem works exactly like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is safe and non addictive and can be taken every day. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
Avatar f tn This started about a month ago. I was laying in bed trying to sleep when I started to hear a violin, playing an f# to a g (i have perfect pitch) back and forth with no apparent rhyme or reason. I normally can't sleep with light or sound, and this went on for a good two hours before I finally managed to fall asleep. I can only hear it from my right ear, whether it's against a pillow or not.
2143641 tn?1396678143 is hypnosis real? is it actually possible to put a person into hypnosis and recall their childhood memories?
Avatar n tn This is not truly caused by my pain, I don't think, but since I started on Savella, I haven't had one solid nights sleep. I am up every hour to hour and a half, just wide awake. I have been told repeatedly by my docs that restorative sleep is very necessary to feel even half way decent in the a.m. I do not take sleeping pils either.
531005 tn?1286515532 Well unless your Psychiatrist does Hypnosis, it would be like walking into your dentist and asking him to do it. I would not demand something unless your sure your Dr. does it. Also it really does not work that way, any sugestion you get from your Dr. would have to be something you want and your MIND wants, Anxiety has to do with ISSUES, so if you have not worked on issues, it will not work.
620048 tn?1358018235 Hi, Meg. I'm not clear on whether your doctor will give you Ambien. You don't want to become dependent on them, of course, but if they help you you should ask for them. Ambien is not related to benzos, thank heavens. My own doctor will prescribe Ambien or Lunesta freely, though my insurance will cover only 15 for any thirty days. That's okay with me, and I take far fewer than that, usually just once a week when I do my Avonex shot.
6038743 tn?1379335251 Ive only slept a total of 8 hours all during the daytime. Im not sure why I cant sleep at night. I was on suboxone for about 4 years straight and would sleep like a baby. Ive had trouble sleeping ever since I deployed to Iraq. Heroin and the drugs I was taking helped with that. But being clean seems impossible to sleep. Is it the WDs from suboxone or is it the PTSD?
