Avatar f tn As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
Avatar n tn There not sure why warm milk help sleep as tryptophan only helps with the initial cycle of sleep but can disrupt deep sleep, but you may want to try it to help you get to sleep initially just only drink a small glass. There is something called Lactium in milk which relaxes infants but there is an all natural medication called dreamerz food that contains a consentrated amount of Lactium(enough for an adult) along with melatonin that has gotten alot of great attention.
Avatar m tn I already was struggling with poor sleep due to sleep apnea that was undiagnosed at the time. At work my responsibilities increased and I was constantly rehashing in my mind the various decisions I had to make in selecting and writing specs for a data management software conversion. Then an extended family member was killed in the military and I had to plan the local service while the parents were out of state at the memorials on the base.
Avatar f tn Sleep deprivation can make you sound and act crazy. I have been there. As for having trouble falling asleep, that could be due to high cortisol. You need more rest. Is there any way you can get it?
4268628 tn?1375041176 The horrible pain that goes beyond rou.d ligament pain and the sleep deprivation due to the pain (which started really.bad about week 12) going to be taken care of. Hopefully it works. Any amount of relief is better than the chronic pain I have right now.
Avatar f tn This can be reset by bright light therapy, sleeping pills and sometimes by sleep debt. In sleep debt, though you happen to sleep late, you condition yourself to get up early; this in turn will help you to sleep early the next day. So, try this, but if your symptoms still persist, I would advise you to discuss your symptoms with your primary care physician who may then refer you to a sleep specialist for further evaluation. Warm regards.
Avatar f tn I have back pain in my shoulder and neck area which I think is a result of sleep deprivation. I am lucky to sleep one night in 10 and am so exhausted and low. When I sleep I run around trying to getall my jobs done as I never know when I can next tackle them. This has been going on for over 5 years. I had a period of about 3 weeks a few months ago when I started to sleep normally.
Avatar f tn But in adults it could be associated with stress, anxiety or other sleep disorders. Sleep deprivation and stress are known to aggravate these symptoms. If the symptoms are interfering with your sleep schedules consult your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Sleep is a necessity, without it, you are going to get much worse, mentally. The sleep deprivation will feed the anxiety, and when the hallucinations start (and they will without sleep), you will be more fearful than ever. That's why it is SO important for you to seek some help, urgently. While you're waiting to see a doctor, try napping during the day, when you feel less fearful. If you have to, lie down and refuse to allow yourself to get back up until you get some sleep.
Avatar f tn Your condition also needs to be differentiated from Sleep deprivation wherein it is milder form. The initial steps you need to take is sleep hygiene education, stimulus control, relaxation, sleep restriction, cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, phototherapy, and chronotherapy. These therapies can be prescribed by clinicians at any level but it can be better implemented by sleep specialist.

410281 tn?1254229064 It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?
Avatar n tn For the last 6 weeks he has been off work following an accident which in my view was a direct result of sleep deprivation. His employer (a large well known logistics firm) schedule drivers' shifts on a weekly basis bearing no similarity to the previous week, Shifts are quite different from one week to the next. Drivers may start at 3 am one week or even 1 pm the next and consequently they are required to adjust their sleeping patterns accordingly.
Avatar m tn If sleeping hours reduce due to stress or work load, the subsequent overall body performance reduce considerably. Hence, sleep deprivation should be prevented, maintain sleep hygiene, mental relaxation exercise will help you to get rid of stress. As your body is used to get up at 7 AM, which is set by circadian rhythm in your body. Hence, do not delay the sleep.
