1926359 tn?1331588139 m eight days off the opiates and planning on weaning the sleep meds as soon as I get a few nights sleep under my belt. My health is fragile but my resolve is strong. I just can't wait to feel what it's like to have NO drugs in my system. It's been 2.5 years....
326352 tn?1310994295 Golly gee... such a ray of sunshine. Glad to help you, though!!! :) Naw, love my kids, but this sleep thing can (somedays, as yesterday was) be an issue big time. Of course you understand that lack of sleep wrecks havoc on the body, the diet, and the ATTITUDE towards others. Yesterday was NOT pretty. And now that I'm not taking Effexor anymore, I'm having to reign in on temper, moodiness, and tears.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!

Avatar m tn i would probably tend to thin that the substance abuse is contributing to ur sleep deprivation and the panic attax...
Avatar f tn As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
Avatar m tn Then an extended family member was killed in the military and I had to plan the local service while the parents were out of state at the memorials on the base. And I was the point person for coordinating media communications. I was unable to grieve as I had too much to do. Then the agency I worked for took on the task of helping a family whose children had been removed from the home due to living conditions.
620048 tn?1358018235 The sleep deprivation is a killer. I struggle with it always. I've been on ambien for a long time and it only works intermittently only. The med that worked best for me was temazapam (generic for Restirol) but I ended up getting allergic after 5 months. I could not believe how I felt in the morning when taking that - it was wonderful and I was glad to know what a nights sleep was worth the next day. No sleep leaves you functionless and like a zombie in every way - mentally, physically.
Avatar m tn My birthday was on the 6th, so on the 7th I had some friends over to hang out. Now, I don't normally drink anything with caffeine in it (including soda, tea, or coffee), but about a week ago my sister bought a 24 pack of Mountain Dew and Pepsi. For about a whole week I would down 3-5 (give or take) cans of soda and hardly any food with it, and about 10-13 cans on the day of my party.
Avatar f tn For the past three nights in a row I haven't been able to sleep, when I lay on my side it hurts my stomach and makes me feel crampy. I can't lay on my stomach for the same reasons, and I just cannot get comfortable on my back. I'm exhausted and I don't know what's going on, I'm barley even showing so I don't see why it should hurt.
Avatar m tn First off - deep breaths. You said yourself that more than likely what you're feeling is linked to sleep deprivation. I'd suggest you actually let your body rest. You might also want to stay away from caffeine for a bit considering that makes the heart race. If you feel as though there's more to this, I suggest speaking to a cardiologist.
Avatar f tn It is said to sleep on left cause it helps the body to pass more oxygen to the placenta. Anyways sleeping on left is more impt in third trimester... m also 14 weeks and sleep on Both my sides or on my back...... its fyn....
459210 tn?1237381603 Hi pickel33, how are you doing? Hope feeling a lot better by now? Have you consulted the sleep specialist regarding the sleep problem? Are you able to manage a good night's sleep now? It would also be better to consult a neurologist to see any neurological disorder. Tiredness and run down feeling might be due to sleep deprivation. Follow above tips and do update on your progress. Take care.
Avatar m tn does anyone have any idea what this heat sensation without fever and generalized back and body pain might be. It's going on 27 days now for me. My CBC was normal except for "just out of range" platelets.
1549468 tn?1345468736 can anyone explain why sleep medications, whether prescription or over-the-counter, have the opposite effect on me? I have had numerous sleep studies done, and all they can tell me is that I am a "true insomniac". I get, at best, 2 maybe 3 hours of broken sleep a night. I will go 2-3 weeks without shutting my eyes at all, then my body will collapse, and I will sleep for days without waking up. In fact, I won't even change the position I was in when I fell asleep.
Avatar f tn I worked full-time and had been prescribed the Ativan to help me sleep. I found the Ativan helped me sleep but when I had to get up for work I felt groggy and also felt sleep-deprived. Since coffee has caffeine I realized after I was off the Ativan that coffee was making me sleep-deprived and whenever I wasn't getting enough sleep the "bugs crawling on my scalp" feeling did not go away. It's important to get lots of sleep to stop these symptoms.
8716921 tn?1402659268 My aunt to warm water nd a cloth nd rub my belly from left to right down she starts from the top nd go down. After tht she put cream on the same way. For the 1st time in weeks I slept like a baby.
774736 tn?1311331385 I was diagnosed with GAD earlier this year and have gone through horrific panic attacks, agoraphobia, and many other anxiety related nightmares but lately Ive been struggling with sleep deprivation...Every day for the past couple months I have not been able to sleep at a reasonable hour...I have to completely exaust myself to finally get to sleep and before I do, I go through a period of feeling "under the influence", as if im drunk or high...
410281 tn?1254229064 It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?
Avatar n tn It is the practice of maximizing awake time and reducing the need to sleep by isolating the rejuvenating REM part of sleep from the unnecessary other pieces. During a normal night of 8 hours of sleep, there are only about 2-3 hours of REM sleep. However, after an adaptation period of about a week, all the sleep that is needed is 6 20 minute naps equally spaced throughout the day. Check out www.stevepavlina.com for the blog of someone who practiced it for about 8 months.
480804 tn?1208236518 Hey there again, She just got over breast cancer in its early stages. I know she has had the sleep walking issues for some years now. She has been on the cancer prevention meds and has been instructed to take a calcium supplement, which she doesn't take due to the side effects on her stomach. She goes to he doctor regularly.
Avatar f tn m quite the opposite, I sleep far too much. I have had some sinus issues in the past though. Mine, however, turned out to be allergy related. Still, I can pass on some of the information I explored. Apparantly, a thick build up of mucus can be caused due to the lack of ample fluids. Your diet can also be a cause, with certain foods aiding in its production. If you smoke, and the mucus is grey/brownish, then that would be your problem.
Avatar f tn Your condition also needs to be differentiated from Sleep deprivation wherein it is milder form. The initial steps you need to take is sleep hygiene education, stimulus control, relaxation, sleep restriction, cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, phototherapy, and chronotherapy. These therapies can be prescribed by clinicians at any level but it can be better implemented by sleep specialist.
