Avatar m tn Hello, Well stress can effect practically everything, from your mind, to you defence system, and stress effects people in different ways. So when someone gets depressed their memory isnt effected until much later, whilst others suffer memory "glitches" even in the build up to depression. So yeah I'd say stress, and as Arcicle said, sleep deprivation also can effect memory in huge ways, so there's another culprit.
Avatar m tn I already was struggling with poor sleep due to sleep apnea that was undiagnosed at the time. At work my responsibilities increased and I was constantly rehashing in my mind the various decisions I had to make in selecting and writing specs for a data management software conversion. Then an extended family member was killed in the military and I had to plan the local service while the parents were out of state at the memorials on the base.
Avatar f tn As this has happened twice, we cannot say for sure. It can be due to incomplete sleep or prolonged sleep deprivation leading confusional state when you wake up. If the symptoms persist then you can undergo EEG monitoring esp. during sleep. This shouldn't be point of concern, relax. You can consult sleep specialist if the problem recurs. Take care and regards.
1926359 tn?1331588139 Hi Y'all so I'm on day 6 of detox and have had a grand total of 5 hours sleep in 5 nights. I have sleep meds that I've been on for years that I plan to wean off of after this-obviously they aren't helping me out. My problem is I have auto immune illness that is triggered by lack of sleep and I'm feeling a flare coming on. Can I take Melotonin with zoplicone? will it help? or should I just stop taking the zoplicone as it isn't working and use the Melatonin.
326352 tn?1310994295 I think I trained myself when they were infants to get up several times a night and I still do that....crazy. Lack of sleep is such a killer, wreaks havoc on your body. True story....My Happy and I went on a weekend getaway a few years back...we arrived in this sweet little Connecticut town, had a couple of drinks, went back to the hotel and promptly fell asleep. The best part we slept for 14 hours! It was like a slice of Heaven.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
Avatar n tn I found this funny at first, until it started affecting my schoolwork- I would dream I completed a homework assignment and then find- once past due- I hadn't done it at all! While I'm sure the stress of college, varied sleep patterns, and depression are the root of the problem (I've been on 20 mg of Prozac since last October), I'm not sure if this is a particular disorder with treatment.
Avatar f tn As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
8398640 tn?1398042546 causes to MS related cognitive issues too eg medication side effects, fatigue, pain, sleep deprivation, psychological issue-depression, stress, self confidence etc One way to basically work out if it's 'possibly' a secondary issue, is to make notes looking for any discernible patterns eg.....What do you experience eg memory loss of prior knowledge, deadlines, call backs, keys, phone. When you experience it eg every Monday afternoon to end of day.
Avatar m tn Depression can cause sleep deprivation... which then leads to that "blurred" perception that you mentioned... if anything, you're most likely losing sleep; not your mind.
Avatar n tn We are now at home. Her heart rate is stabilized, but she remains on oxygen (2 liters). She has long suffered from severe chronic pain caused by small fiber neuropathy, and takes high doses of opioids for the pain. Prior to her fall I observed her dozing off mid-sentence, using the wrong words in sentences and having memory problems, so I now suspect she has had a low SAT rate for some time. She still has some difficulty choosing the correct word, and short term memory issues.
Avatar m tn Can ginkgo biloba tablets interact with paracetamol if taken together?

Avatar m tn Chronic sleep deprivation can cause crazy symptoms including much of what you describe (dizziness, double vision). In fact, get a referral to a sleep specialist at a university hospital if you can. Sleep deprivation will do a number on your Nervous system, cardiovascular system etc. I turned out to have mixed sleep apnea -- some obstructive but also sleep onset central apnea. It got to the point where I was getting no sleep -- The moment I fell asleep, I stopped breathing.
620048 tn?1358018235 The sleep deprivation is a killer. I struggle with it always. I've been on ambien for a long time and it only works intermittently only. The med that worked best for me was temazapam (generic for Restirol) but I ended up getting allergic after 5 months. I could not believe how I felt in the morning when taking that - it was wonderful and I was glad to know what a nights sleep was worth the next day. No sleep leaves you functionless and like a zombie in every way - mentally, physically.
Avatar n tn They gave me 4 times the dose of what I was suppose to have- 100 lb. woman. I am having severe sleep deprivation from this, night sweats and the shakes. How do I get my sleep habits back? I am waking up every hour! I am due to have surgery in a few days and am afraid that I am going to wake up during the procedure. I need help, what do i do? Thank you!
1507842 tn?1298428622 Sleep deprivation can cause short-term memory loss. You might try taking gingko biloba. This leaf has been studied extensively and proved efficacious. I was part of a program for two years and the results wee nothing short of amazing.
757137 tn?1347196453 What I failed to mention was that many years ago I suffered severe sleep deprivation (non-sleeping baby). This led to an aborted stroke. From that time on I had problems with sleep. Before that I slept like the dead for 9 or 10 hours a night (just like my brothers and sisters) and was in tip-top health. I believe there was some damage to my nervous system at that time. There is no psychological element to my sleep problem that anyone can find. But I don't stop trying.
774736 tn?1311331385 I was diagnosed with GAD earlier this year and have gone through horrific panic attacks, agoraphobia, and many other anxiety related nightmares but lately Ive been struggling with sleep deprivation...Every day for the past couple months I have not been able to sleep at a reasonable hour...I have to completely exaust myself to finally get to sleep and before I do, I go through a period of feeling "under the influence", as if im drunk or high...
Avatar m tn If sleeping hours reduce due to stress or work load, the subsequent overall body performance reduce considerably. Hence, sleep deprivation should be prevented, maintain sleep hygiene, mental relaxation exercise will help you to get rid of stress. As your body is used to get up at 7 AM, which is set by circadian rhythm in your body. Hence, do not delay the sleep.
