Avatar f tn As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
1926359 tn?1331588139 Hi lulu sorry you're having such a tough time sleeping. You are very strong to be putting yourself through this and not giving up.That is awesome! When I was detoxing I had ambien but I would only take it when I knew I wouldn't sleep (like 1 am) It produced about 3 hours sleep..I know it's hard but you will sleep some soon just hang in there.Sleep issues make this withdrawal so hard.It would be nice if we could just sleep through w'd like speed addicts do lol.
326352 tn?1310994295 how do you EVER get enough sleep? And of course, the diet gurus all say that adequate sleep is so important. How do you do that with 2 babies who are alternating their wake-ups....sleep restlessly (in our bed, they don't start there, but end up there around midnight)...and God love them, keep mommy from getting a good night's sleep. Vegas was good for the sleep, but 2 nights back at the house and my butt is dragging the ground. Is there a happy medium somewhere?
Avatar m tn But if she indicates the being stuck scenario, suggest she modify her schedule for a few days and arrange a few hours here and there of total down time. Remind her that sleep is critical to her cognitive abilities and memory, and to be kind to herself so that her body and mind are equipped to handle a busy lifestyle. Usually nature will take over and the "crash" will come with an extended session of sleep. Encourage her to embrace that, and to even get some help if she is unable.
Avatar n tn During a normal night of 8 hours of sleep, there are only about 2-3 hours of REM sleep. However, after an adaptation period of about a week, all the sleep that is needed is 6 20 minute naps equally spaced throughout the day. Check out www.stevepavlina.com for the blog of someone who practiced it for about 8 months. After the first week those 6 naps (totaling 2 hours) can make a person feel just as refreshed as a normal night of sleep.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
1606496 tn?1491508730 After mild sleep deprivation OR caffeine/stimulant withdrawal, I crash hard. I fall asleep wherever I am and can't really fight the urge. After waking from my nap, I feel unbelievable tired, weak and almost paralyzed. For the next 1-4 hours I feel as if my brain is swollen. So long as I regularly get 8 hours min sleep and avoid all stimulants, this isn't a problem but sometimes stimulants or sleep deprivation are unavoidable. What could this be?
Avatar n tn There not sure why warm milk help sleep as tryptophan only helps with the initial cycle of sleep but can disrupt deep sleep, but you may want to try it to help you get to sleep initially just only drink a small glass. There is something called Lactium in milk which relaxes infants but there is an all natural medication called dreamerz food that contains a consentrated amount of Lactium(enough for an adult) along with melatonin that has gotten alot of great attention.
Avatar m tn 30 or so, only getting around 4 hours of sleep. I tried to get back to sleep but the people around me were up and keeping me awake. After a while of me laying in bed, everyone left except one friend, and me and him layed around all day being too tired to do anything, but not wanting to sleep the day away. That whole day I felt pretty normal.
1082476 tn?1275617999 Hello Everybody! I had a meeting with my psychiatrist a few weeks ago to raise some sleep issues that I'd been having. The constant tiredness brought on by staying up until all hours of the morning had, I think, actually helped the suicidal thoughts, emptiness, tearfulness and misery that I'd been experiencing because I was too tired to focus on them.
8716921 tn?1402659268 I would love to just get a few hours uninterrupted before my baby gets here and the real sleep deprivation starts. Is anyone else feeling the need to wake uo every few hours to switch positions and how could I exclude my field trips to the rest room.
519592 tn?1211919961 It seems you are now under lot of stress causing you the sleep deprivation. You might be suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and associated rhythmic movement disorder, which you need to get evaluated by a sleep doctor and also get a sleep test done. How about your blood pressure? Stress can trigger your migraine headache, which in turn worsens the sleep deprivation. It is better to consult a neurologist and a sleep specialist and discuss your plan of care.
6691229 tn?1392139790 What triggers yours? Mine is triggered by sleep deprivation and I know during labor you're up for hours and tired. Mine is also hereditary so im hoping it skips my sons generation.

Avatar m tn I took Trazadone for sleep during detox and was able to get 3-4 hours at a time. It doesn't sound like much, but it was better than nothing. Falling asleep easy again took until about day 10 for me, but I have sleep problems.. I still take the Trazadone for sleep today.. probably always will .. Not sleeping was the toughest part of detox for me, sadly, it was the last symptom to ease.. It will however get easier ..
Avatar n tn That's a serious sleep deprivation system. It's hard to function on so little sleep. Have you always been prone to insomnia? Is your problem falling to sleep or do you wake up after falling to sleep and can't go back? Those are different sleep issues. Melatonin has been shown to work well for sleep and can be bought at any drug store. Talk to the pharmacist about using. More tested than CBT oil. good luck.
Avatar n tn you could wait until the sleep deprivation sets in and you begin to hallucinate, then you will either sleep or likely get an escorted trip to a psych facility. you may need to decide if your finances are worth losing your health as well. i can promise you, if you keep this up, it will get worse.
Avatar f tn I have not slept more than six or seven hours most of my adult life, and I am 59 years old. Sometimes if I get really busy at work, I don't sleep more than three or four hours. Is this damaging my immune system??? This condition runs in my family. I have relatives who have lived to be almost ninety.
Avatar n tn Hello. Last night I slept only for 2 hours so I took 200mg of Modafinil (Modvigil generic brand) at 6am when I woke up and 200mg more later at 1pm but I felt very tired at 3pm. I don't understand why it didn't work because it's supposed to be effective against sleep deprivation and it was used by the army. Should I try a lower dosage like 100mg in the morning and 100mg in the afternoon ? Or should I try 400mg in a single take ?
Avatar m tn I spend the night at my friends’ house almost every night. we don’t go to sleep till about 5 or 6 In the morning but I only sleep 4 hours and when I wake up I try my hardest to go back to sleep but I can’t. My friends and I usually are active during the day. We walk almost everywhere we want to go. I’m tired during the day so I don’t understand why I have a hard time sleeping at night. I don’t know if I have a sleeping disorder or if it’s just a stage in life.
Avatar m tn My epilepsy is said to have started due to sleep deprivation. Which is why I take the tegratol. My sleep is on track these days and I get a minimum of 8 hours per night. What would happen if I stopped the medication? Also what affect would the Marijuana have on me? Would I still have the same flickering/glitches?
Avatar f tn If someone had of told me how hard being a mum is with the sleep deprivation I would not of believed them lol! I fantasise about having a full 8hrs of uninterrupted blissful sleep!!!
1028495 tn?1254892879 In the following days, I continued to consume alcohol at my normal rate and never got any sleep. I would only get about 4 hours a night, while still working 40 hours weekly. The last attack I had following a night of heavy drinking and little sleep (3 hours). I have since had at least 8 hours of sleep a night, and haven't drank a drop. It's been about 2 weeks, and I'm starting to feel more and more relaxed as the days passed. I am employed full time and a full time student.
