Avatar f tn Hello, losing 2-4kg per month is a healthy amount of weight loss. The key is to lose small amounts of weight so the body can adjust and keep it off. 10kg weight loss can most likely be done, but it would involve alot of deprivation which wouldnt be sustainable for long term weight management. so what would happen? youd get the 10kgs off and then your body would want to go back to where it was. so you'd gain the weight back... and often put on more than you were initially.
Avatar f tn I have tried Seroquel (I reacted badly to that and had to come off it after a week), Depakote (which made me gain weight and left my mood very flat and did not help with the irratibility) as well as various anti-depressants (which of course made bipolar worse) and Metazapine (which caused muscle twitching). Is anybody else taking Zyprexa, if so how have you found it. Any advice, experiences would be much appreciated. I am finding the whole thing very difficult.
Avatar n tn The only thing i take is xanax everyday which helps a little. I am 21 yr old female and weigh only 105 lbs. I need to gain weight but so anxious that i cannot eat. Please tell me if anyone has found relief with Remeron?
Avatar n tn Is there anything I can do to get it out and help me sleep. I do not recommend this drug for anyone and it seems to be the new anesthesia drug.
Avatar n tn Get a copy of your sleep test results and make sure that you are spening about 30% of the night in REM sleep and a large amount in Deep sleep. During REM sleep vital bio-chemical reations occur and it is the rest for your brain. Deep Sleep is the portion of sleep where your body rests.
480705 tn?1208228550 There apparently is a connection between sleep deprivation and weight gain and also between stress and weight gain. Since you are on medication, I assume your parents are in the loop about everything that is going on with you, I hope you continue to keep them informed of everything you are going through. And also, good for you for being so proactive about your health.

1926359 tn?1331588139 I agree with GA...call the doctor for some help. Sleep deprivation is horrible and it's just going to keep wearing you down. Yes. It's very normal for some to have a sleep problem 7 days in. It's awful, I know...Go out and get the Alteril (I know they have it at Walgreen's). Stay up all day and do as much as you can physically. Then go through all the bed preparations early (6 or 7 pm).
326352 tn?1310994295 how do you EVER get enough sleep? And of course, the diet gurus all say that adequate sleep is so important. How do you do that with 2 babies who are alternating their wake-ups....sleep restlessly (in our bed, they don't start there, but end up there around midnight)...and God love them, keep mommy from getting a good night's sleep. Vegas was good for the sleep, but 2 nights back at the house and my butt is dragging the ground. Is there a happy medium somewhere?
Avatar n tn I was treated for Hepatritis C over 4 years ago and have been suffering with Chronic Major Depression, anxiety, fatigue and a host of aches and pains. Just recently I have been given a sleep study and I had very little REM and many sleep apnea episodes, My Pulmonologist has ordered another sleep study using C-pap. I am hoping that my side effcts are actually symptoms of sleep apnea.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
Avatar f tn I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
8467907 tn?1407411342 Its 2am n I can't get 2 sleep this has been happening for days now....

774736 tn?1311331385 My shrink put me on Paxil (antidepressant) and Ambien (sleep pill) and Klonopin (anxiety). I was weaned off Ambien after 6 mos. but kept on Paxil and Klonopin (as needed). These really helped me through. But be careful on Paxil , because it is very hard to wean off. Talk to your psychiatrist and see what's best for you. Any antidepressant will have side effects.
Avatar n tn Are you there to take care of him? I do agree with your views of sleep deprivation and its adverse effects. He might be in severe stress due to sleep deprivation caused a result of irregular sleeping cycle because of job needs working in frequent shifts. You may seek the help of attorney for his loss of pay. He requires rest for sometime. He can get evaluated by a neurologist and get counseled by a sleep specialist. Take care and update on his progress.
1330108 tn?1333677304 Here is an article to start us out by Parebting Magazine. This is something that I do as part of the bedtime routine every night with Ellie. Massage is one of life's simple pleasures, and research has shown that baby massage can help babies grow better and behave better. (Even colicky ones!) The skin-to-skin connection helps parents and baby better communicate too -- without saying a word. It's also a great way for dad to get in on the baby-bonding act.
Avatar n tn Actually, besides apnea being worsened by gaining weight, sleep disorders can actually cause weight gain by the effect on the appetite hormones, metabolism, and energy levels. There's been quite a lot of info out lately about kids diagnosed as ADHD or even having behavioral or learning problems actually having sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is associated with increased risk for cardiac disease, Type 2 Diabetes and High Blood Pressure.
Avatar m tn s not much she can do to totally escape the sensory overload. Young people are amazingly resilient and some go all thru college with inadequate and irregular sleep. But if she indicates the being stuck scenario, suggest she modify her schedule for a few days and arrange a few hours here and there of total down time. Remind her that sleep is critical to her cognitive abilities and memory, and to be kind to herself so that her body and mind are equipped to handle a busy lifestyle.
Avatar n tn anti-histamines are most commonly used for allergies such as benadryl, but is often found in OTC sleep aids, and some older anti-histamines have anxiolytic effects, and many other uses. Taking nyquil every so often will help you get to sleep and stay a sleep due to a cold or irritation, but its not relally useful for insomnia. theres where more prescription sleepaids come into the mix, but enough rambling, your body will still burn calories while you sleep if you take nyquil...
Avatar m tn What you are experiencing could be hallucinations and delusions and they can occur with certain medications, stress, sleep deprivation, in certain brain disorders and with schizophrenia or bipolar disorders. When sleep paralysis happens in sleep the person has difficulty moving his hands or feet. This is the symptom of a sleep disorder called Narcolepsy. You will need to consult your primary care physician for assessment. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
