Brian Dyck of the Mennonite Central Committee, which is also helping to resettle Syrians, says
Canada has some precedent for quickly bringing in refugees. In 1979, he notes, the
country brought in 60,000 Vietnamese and other Southeast Asian refugees in just 18 months.
The government is expected to announce sometime in the next week how it plans to bring 25,000 Syrians to Canada in such a short time.
