Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea. I am 42 years old and is not over weight. My problem is I am having headaches durning my sleep. When I wake up fully I don't have headaches. This happens all night long. I don't know if I am having dreams of having a headaches but the pain in my head feels real. Then I wake up and it gone. Does anyone know what going on with me?
Avatar n tn Hi, Recent studies have shown that chronic headaches that are not responsive to medical therapy have been associated with sleep apnea.About 30% of patients in one study with headaches and sleep apnea experienced some relief with C-PAP therapy. However, a polysomnography ( sleep test) is still considered for these patients. Hypertension connected to sleep apnea? Most patients diagnosed with sleep apnea have weight problems and most of them are middle aged.
1580703 tn?1651904887 my sleep apnea is getting worse, now I have headaches when I don't use bipap and my oxygen on the sleep study was 70%, it's hard to adjust to the bipap machine I really want to get tonsil surgery- did it help anyone here?
Avatar n tn That depends. Do you have a copy of your sleep study results? If you have mild sleep apnea, there is a possibility a dental device could help, but those are expensive too. Some are helped with surgery, but many find after surgery they still need cpap. Hardly anyone gets used to wearing a mask to breathe in a night or two. Some take weeks and have to try several masks to get one that's right for them. But the benefits from toughing it out till adjusted make it worth the effort...
Avatar f tn Hi, My husband has sleep apnea and had these symptoms. He's not overweight or a smoker but the brochure the doc gave us said that both of those are risk factors, and since your boyfriend has them it might be worth getting checked out. Sleep apnea can put people at an increased risk for heart attacks and strokes, besides which it just ***** to be sleepy all the time and have daily headaches.
Avatar f tn Hi, Dr Carolyn Dean talks about sleep apnea and Magnesium supplementation . If you google : Magnesium and sleep Apnea. I have family members who also refuses to use CPAP, so they are trying Mg instead. Still at the starting stage. But what I could tell you is that snoring is definitely less.. :) Sleep apnea causes high BP, memory loss, headaches, poor concentration, fatigue and so many more.. So I'd say, give Mg Glycinate a try..
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a sleep breathing problem Your migraines and depression could all be related as well. Waking up with headaches is one of the classic symptoms of sleep apnea. The reason for the constant 4AM wake up time is because of your sleep cycles. You go through 4-5 cycles of sleep, from light to deep to REM sleep.
Avatar m tn While shortness of breath is a symptom suffered by some, a sleep study is done generally for patients who suffer from a condition known as sleep apnea. During sleep apnea you have periods of no breathing which eventually wake you with a gasp for air. It is treated by wearing Bipap oxygen at bed time. Lastly, your Dr should be able to determine if this test is necessary for you :-) Good luck.
213044 tn?1236527460 m pretty sure (based on discussions w/ me endocrinologist and my gut feeling on being hypo) that hashi hypo is the cause of sleep apnea, as well heart palps, and headaches -- the link between sleep apnea, and headaches and heart issues is definitely one to look into and mention to MD!!!! Thanks for posting this!!!!! Great topic!!
Avatar f tn I found out later that one of its side-effects was fatigue. I do have sleep aptnea and see a sleep specialist. Sleep doc is aware of headaches, all further tests with him are good. My blood work is good except for low HDL cholsteral and low globulin results. Is there any way to determine what is the cause of the headaches without just trying different meds? Had cat scans and other tests... all normal.
Avatar f tn Do you have any symptoms suggestive of sleep apnea? Morning headaches are often mentioned by those with untreated sleep apnea.
Avatar n tn Considering your symptoms of wakefulness after sleep, it is most likely that you may be having Obstructive Sleep Apnea. When a person sleeps the airways are usually patent allowing normal passage for air entry. The upper airway that is at the region of the tongue and the soft palate is the most compliant (soft) part. So, this is liable to collapse and cause airway obstruction.
Avatar f tn This could be caused by sleep apnea, teeth grinding, restless sleep, or even restless leg syndrome. Sleep apnea is a very common sleep disorder wherein you stop breathing numerous times during the night causing the brain to wake you just sufficiently to start your breathing again, but you are not aware of being woken. This results in very light and disturbed sleep which often means that you wake in the morning with a headache and tiredness.
Avatar m tn I know sleep apnea can cause anxiety and panic attacks. But can anxiety cause sleep apnea? I have a ventricular aneurysm and PVCs my doctors say are normal. I'm not overweight, I don't drink, not on meds. I've been waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air.
Avatar f tn This keeps alternating and the person may not actually wake up all the time, but these repeated arousals can disturb the sleep architecture and cause fatigue, headaches and daytime sleepiness. These people are also more prone for Hypertension. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is more common in people who snore.

Avatar f tn Hello! I'm a 26y Female, who is overweight. I believe I have sleep apnea, and I want to ask my doctor to send me for a sleep study. I wake up often in the night, and feel like I need to take a deep breath. (Sometimes my lungs hurt for a few moments) I have morning headaches often, and I don't feel rested no matter how long I sleep. I have debilitating daily fatigue, sleepiness, and lightheadeness, can this be sleep apnea? Would it really effect my day this way?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with sleep apnea got my machine and humidifier. I have chronic sinus problems and since I have been using my machine my sinus problems have gotten worse do you have any ideas to what else I can do to help with less sinus congestion and infections.
1580703 tn?1651904887 m getting 0% stage 3/4 sleep. What caused my sleep apnea, memory/ADD problem and what can I possibly do? Thanks so much!
Avatar m tn Your daytime sleepiness and depersonalization, nocturnal desaturation and an elevated respiratory disturbance index (RDI) are all consistent with the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea. The data does warrant your making a maximum effort to use the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device effectively. The diagnosis will be more certain if and when you are consistently able to use the CPAP effectively, with relief of symptoms.
