1580703 tn?1651904887 my sleep apnea is getting worse, now I have headaches when I don't use bipap and my oxygen on the sleep study was 70%, it's hard to adjust to the bipap machine I really want to get tonsil surgery- did it help anyone here?
Avatar f tn I do also have severe sleep apnea and use a bipap. I have often felt that my lack of sleep causes the chronic part of the head pain. However, I use a bipap so I thought that meant I should be sleeping well. But I am not sleeping well. My last sleep study was 1 yr ago. The sleep specialist told me that they had to extend the study and additional 45 minutes because I didnt get into a deep sleep until the last 30 minutes.
Avatar m tn I wanna know if your doctor recommend CPAP for your snoring and if you have been diagnose with sleep apnea. If yes does your doctor recommend you to have a CPAP or BiPAP? these two are the only alternative cure to that. I have been helping people to know their conditions and if your still having problems you can contact me i can recommend you specialists for that.
Avatar n tn Now he has a very bad heart condition due to all those years of sleep apnea. Lack of oxygen to the heart. It is very important that people take apnea serious.
702513 tn?1228512697 Most people with central sleep apnea are not given a regular BiPAP machine. I was given a Respironics BiPAP Auto SV machine. Could you tell us exactly what type of machine your husband is using? Your BiPAP should have a smart card slot installed. Your home care provider should give you a smart card and after a couple of weeks you can give them the card and they will download the data to see if the treatment is effective.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hi! I have both obstructive and central sleep apnea and am on a machine to breathe, but I don't know if my settings are right at 18/14 auto? I think I'm waking up a lot on this high pressure. I have found no relief for years now, please help!!!
Avatar m tn I had a nadir of 72%. I was diagnosed with central and obstructive sleep apnea and am compliant with my BiPAP machine and O2 concentrator w/ 2 liters of O2. What are the possible effects of 60 - 90 minutes of low blood oxygen? Is this dangerous? Why would my blood oxygen level drop despite using BiPAP and O2? Thanks very much.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new to this site, it's fantastic. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has Narcolepsy and Obstructed Sleep Apnea?? I have both and feel like I'm the only one on the earth who is this lucky..LOL! My Neurologist calls me her Medical Phenom !. I also do not have cataplexy, but regularly experience Hypnagogic, at onset of sleep. Thanks, have a good one....
Avatar f tn It's not the usual for a new bipap (or cpap/apap/vpap) user to be immediately comfortable and able to keep the mask on 7 hours a night, but it is possible to achieve this goal. I thought I'd never be able to do it, and now I'm perfectly comfortable. If the mask you have doesn't work for you, talk to your supplier and tell them. Don't suffer in silence or give up. Without knowing the full results of your sleep study, I'm not sure what very light sleep apnea means.
Avatar m tn So are you saying that if I take morphine sulfate for my chronic head pain, that that could hamper my sleep even thought I use a bipap for my sever sleep apnea?
Avatar m tn While shortness of breath is a symptom suffered by some, a sleep study is done generally for patients who suffer from a condition known as sleep apnea. During sleep apnea you have periods of no breathing which eventually wake you with a gasp for air. It is treated by wearing Bipap oxygen at bed time. Lastly, your Dr should be able to determine if this test is necessary for you :-) Good luck.
Avatar f tn Researchers evaluated 98 pacemaker patients for sleep apnea. Fifty-nine percent of the patients had undiagnosed sleep apnea and they suffer from sleep disorders. But there is no good research done for sleep apnea in pacemakers users. Also sleep apnea can also be associated with restless leg syndrome, Obesity and upper airway soft tissue abnormalities etc.
Avatar n tn I have copd and sleep apnea. I use a cpap machine and am becoming convinced that it is the machine that keeps setting off lung infections in me. Every morning or whenever I wake up with mask on, I am choking and it hurts to take a breath. My mouth is completey dried out and I cough for a half hour before I can begin to inhale without coughing. Is there a solution for this...I can't use a nasal mask because I have deviated septum and automatically open my mouth when I sleep.
1769279 tn?1315015320 Hello :-) Sleep apnea and sleep disturbances can be associated with chiari, from what I've read. I have it, but don't have the bipap or cpap yet. Ask your NL for a sleep study and you will find out for sure. It can be a dangerous condition, so you definitely want to catch it and fix it.
Avatar m tn I suffered from the same symptoms and didn't find relief until I had a UPPP, which included removing the tonsils and adenoids (sp?), and having the back of my throat and roof of my mouth shaved and scored in order for the skin to grow back together more taut. It was a miserable, horrible surgery and recovery, but I no longer snore and am able to sleep through the night. I would not recommend this procedure for a mild case of sleep apnea and/or snoring, but it has improved my life.
1580703 tn?1651904887 In addition, the cyst of the clivus rarely, if large, could compromise air flow through the naso-pharynx and thus add an obstructive component to your sleep apnea. In suggesting that bipap “doesn’t work that well” I’m not sure if you are saying it was properly used but ineffectual or that you were unable to tolerate the apparatus. If the latter, you should work closely with members of the nearest advanced Sleep Lab to make it work for you.
Avatar f tn I am 64 years old, female and have COPD and Sleep Apnea. I am currently on a Cpap machine. My question is, can the Cpap be make my COPD worse? In the time that I am on the machine I feel like my lungs are getting filled with more air. During the day my COPD seems worse. Since I have a problem getting the air out of my lungs anyway, can the machine be making my COPD worse? Thanks for any help you can give me. I am to the point that I don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn I just found out that I have severe sleep apnea. After years of wondering what was wrong with me. I finally told my primary that I wanted a sleep study. He said that I told him that I sleep allot. I told him that I have every symptom and didn't feel my fatigue was due to my age as he suggested. He reluctantly ordered the test and found out it was severe. My results were an average of 2 apnea a minute and less than 75% oxygen fifteen times.
Avatar m tn Do you have an open stoma or have a tube in place? In theory, if you have a connection from your neck to your windpipe, then you can't have obstructive sleep apnea. Also since you won't be breathing air in and out of your nose/mouth, the PSG readings will be inaccurate. What's your reason for considering a sleep study and why did yo have to undergo the tracheotomy procedure?
1580703 tn?1651904887 is there anything I can take or do for my asthma and sleep apnea?
1580703 tn?1651904887 If the central apnea is a significant component of your apnea, you may require BIPAP. You should be evaluated by a Sleep Disorder Specialist. One of the unfortunate “side effects” of sleep apnea is that it can make it quite difficult to achieve optimum control of asthma and so there are multiple reasons why your sleep therapy must be optimized.
505751 tn?1225032462 I just found out that I have severe complex sleep apnea with central sleep apnea being the main problem. I go back tonight for another study and to get the CPAP. I am also in the middle a lot of test because my new neurologist is 99% sure I have MS. My question is for those of you already DX with MS - is this sort of sleep apnea common? If so did a CPAP help?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with central and obstructive sleep apnea about one year ago. My first CPAP machine did not resolve my symptoms and I was switched to a Respironics Auto SV BiPAP machine w/ two liters of oxygen about four months ago. I had an overnight pulse oxygen test last week. The results show that I had two periods between 30 and 45 minutes where my blood oxygen level fell into the low 80s and even the upper 70s. Is an hour to hour and a half of low blood oxygen a problem?
Avatar f tn After a sleep test, I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. I slept for about 5 hours and I stopped breathhing 203 times, and my pulseox dropped to 60. My doctor said it was the worst case he had seen. Could this be an exaggeration? Also, I am having a machine delivered and set up by a tech in 2 days. Which machine is easiest to handle. I have heard horror stories about CPAP. The main problem was the fact that the air is blowing back at your nose when trying to exhale. Can't this be adjusted.
Avatar m tn She had 1/2 her thyroid took out, and got hypo ruled out..so her gp doc said time for a study..im also serve sleep apnea, on bipap 18/10 settings with 5lmp of o2 sleep only.. the apt is so far away.. can she use just a chin strap to see if she can sleep..i mean its got bad to wear its messing her life up.. I think you have to use a chin stap with a cpap?? or can she use it alone just to see if it helps. Were willing to try anything....
222135 tn?1236488221 Hope you are feeling better with the use of Bipap machine now and able to get a fair amount of sleep. Well, it depends on the severity of sleep apnea how you use the machine. You need to discuss with your sleep doctor if you are facing any problem with the machine or in using it properly. You may take couple of days or weeks in getting adjusted with the new device for a smooth use. Sometimes an allergic reaction and ill fitting mask can be common with it and needs to be replaced if so.
