Avatar n tn e read state that these kind of spots can be an indicator for liver disease, I have experimented with drugs in the past and it is something I regret, but I just hope that these are nothing serious and I can be correctly diagnosed so that I can take the next step into how to deal with them, I have also uploaded some photos of them so you can have a look for yourself, any feedback would be much appreciated, many thanks
1714226 tn?1308625105 hi, I am a 1 1/2 year post liver transplant patient. My advice is to see a GI specialist who focuses on liver disease. There are a series of diagnostic procedures they would recommend if warranted. If liver disease is confirmed then they should request blood labs to determine a MELD score. In a nutshell, this can become very overwhelming but I am trying to reassure you that there many steps to take before determining the worst case.
1714226 tn?1308625105 Hi, my name is Patty and I am 29 years old. To say that liver disease runs in my family would be a huge understatement, for my grandmother, aunt, and my father have all died of cirrhosis of the liver. Neither of the 3 were alcoholics either. Since the age of 18, I have had routine checkups and blood work, keeping a close eye on my liver function and health. In January of 2010, I was diagnosed with gallbladder disease and had surgery to remove it.
Avatar m tn As far as I know the other diseases and conditions that you have are not life-threatening. Advanced liver disease can be. You must see a hepatologist (a liver specialist) at a liver transplant hospital. They work on a daily basis with patients that have cirrhosis of the liver. No other doctor is qualified to treat someone with as many medical conditions as you have. You mention Houston.
Avatar f tn I see him and discuss my cyst and start pointing out all these odd things and he points out some things to me like small brown spots, small white spots and some skin discoloration. I also told him that I thought it was strange that all my normal veins that I normally couldn't see before are showing through now. He advised me to go to my PCP for some blood work because these things are seen in liver disease.

Avatar m tn Are you also having any other symptoms suggestive of liver disease like jaundice, vomiting, abdominal pain etc? Your skin symptoms could be due to any allergy, inflammation or infection. The common possibilities are insect bites, impetigo, dyshidrotic eczema etc. In dyshidrotic eczema there are small red bums or blisters on the palms of your hands or soles of your feet. Consult a dermatologist. Treatment will be specific based on the cause. Keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn All pharmaceutical products adversely affect the liver, and dark spots on the skin have traditionally been attributed to liver elimination, such as liver spots. There are natural liver cleanses you can use if that turns out to be an issue.
Avatar m tn I am an 18 year old male and i have dark circle spots on my chest and back. I also have spots on my neck but they're not as dark as the ones on my chest. Some people call it liver spots but i don't know what it is. There's no symptoms to it, it just bothers me. But i do want to know what it is and how to treat it.
Avatar n tn Apart from these conditions, suntan or sunburn can also cause formation of black spots on skin. Other health conditions like liver disease, hemochromatosis can also lead to this problem. to treat it i found a site here:http://www.buzzle.com/articles/black-spots-on-skin.
550622 tn?1247656720 Hi, I am hyperthyroid and I see pin sized red spots on my skin as well. They do not itch. I am currently on an antithyroid pill called propyl-thyracil, and pin sized red spots are listed as a rare side effect, maybe you should check out the side effects on your current medicine. Hope you are feeling better.

Avatar n tn Hello, Hyper pigmentation due to sun exposure is the commonest cause of dark spots on the forehead. These are also called age spots. Post inflammatory hyper pigmentation is a type of darkening of the skin that may occur after some form of injury or infection. If the dark are at the hairline itself, this can possibly be seborrheic dermatitis, especially if there is also itching, scaling, and a greasy texture to the spots. There may also be involvement of the scalp .
Avatar n tn Although recently dark spots, age spots, or liver spots, added to my embarrassing condition. My dermatologist recommended a prescription cream.that's labeled as potent, yet gentle, tissue-softner for skin or nails. He told me to put the cream on clean hands nightly before bed, followed by Vaseline Petroleum Jelly and to protect it from coming off by wearing white cotton gloves. The cream is made by Hi-Tech Pharmacal. It name is Urea Cream (40% Urea) Rx Only. It helped a somewhat.
317787 tn?1473358451 Luckily you are aware of your liver disease and hepatitis and you cured the underlying cause of your liver disease before "the point of no return" and liver transplant. Dysfunction in the body's second largest organ, the liver, often yields changes in the body’s largest organ, the skin and it associated hair and nails.
Avatar n tn s an allergy because the part of the skin starts to itch. When I scratch it it small red spots appear. A couple days later the small red spots turn into slightly larger redish purple spots. These are usuallly concentrated in one area, e.g. chest or arm. That is why it's so wierd for me because it's not like it is all over my body, just a small spot. This has happaned many times before. I called my doctor and he didn't seem to think anything of it, but I am worried. Thank you.
Avatar f tn http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1416149/ This is a link to an article about alcohol, psoriasis and liver disease. It is a PDF file so I couldn't paste any of it here but you might want to look at it. It suggests there is a correlation between alcohol and psoriasis but not liver disease although I have read other articles that say it is. My husband has psoriasis and he will never not have it. I think once you have it you have it.
Avatar m tn Hi, I checked them and they havent grown to cherry angioma. I googled it. I have these spots for two years now but they are in the skin or extremely little above. Not like cherry angioma. Thanks.
Avatar m tn It is hard to explain clearly, but I have noticed something similar to liver spots on my hands and feet....something looking like dotted freckles. About a month or two ago, my doctor tested my liver by doing a blood test, I didn't get the results back personally, but they said it was alright. My doctor said I did not need to test for hepatitis, but is EBV harmful like Hepatitis, or no? I'm trying to be proactive, although I am not working, and funds are scarce....
Avatar f tn Hi, Itchy skin below knees along with generalized itching all over the body could be due to dry skin, thyroid disorders, liver disease, kidney disease or anemia. Certain medications can also cause itching. I would recommend that you consult a physician for further work up and confirmation of the cause for this. Best.
184420 tn?1326739808 Spider Nevi: Spider nevi are small, red, spider shaped spots on the skin. They are usually less than 1 inch around. They are most commonly seen on the face and chest, but can occur anywhere on the skin. Spider nevi are painless and do not itch I have them on my chest - common with hepc and I don't have cirrhosis. I don't know if this is similiar to what you have. I've had them for years - didn't know they were associated with hepc - just thought it was another sign of aging.
Avatar f tn age spots are due to damage to the skin, it has to do with the melanin in the skin. I dont know why they call them liver spots. melanin protects the skin and is helpful in inflammation. this has to do with the skin, not with the liver. Good luck with your positive endeavors.
Avatar m tn There is a lot of internet accessible information on liver disease. I am not a health professional, so I won't speak to genetics, but it is well researched that alcoholism is a causative factor in some liver disease. To prevent liver problems, the literature is clear that we should not drink alcohol to excess. Below is list of symptoms from the Mayo Clinic link. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn Hi, Grover's disease, also known as transient acantholytic dermatosis, results in small red, bumpy spots on the central back, mid chest and in less frequently affected areas like scalp, face and upper limbs. (Ref: http://www.anaisdedermatologia.org.br/artigo_en.php?artigo_id=291#) Although frequently itchy, it may cause no symptoms. The spots may be blistered, crusted or eroded and may slightly bleed.
Avatar f tn I have a certain liver disease that makes me have jaundice like symptoms. It could be too much of certain blood in ur body since u got a baby in there growing. Mine causes too much bilirubin. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi it sounds like it could be vitiligo which can happen even in fair skinned people. If you look at wikipedia you will see images of more extreme cases, so don't think it may not be what you have The other thing to think of is; has your surrounding skin darkened slightly and the white spots are actually marks from your childhood, like acne marks, chicken pox marks etc, which are becoming more obvious.
