I can provide you with reassurance that what you are experiencing in not herpes. Here are the reasons:
1. The sores appeared too soon for herpes. At the very earliest they would have appeared 3, or more typically 4 or 5 days after your exposure.

So is your throat still sore or just swelling? Does the doctor acknowledge the swelling? Any pain with the swelling? Possibly you are experiencing some kind of infection.
It would probably be a good idea to report the fever and sweating to your doctor, but I believe the sweating is usually more extreme.
Sunday night I got hit with a nasty cold sore. Hooray!! In the meanwhile I went to the doctor for sore throat and had done hiv antibody testing(too soon I know) after 2 weeks and after 4 weeks antibody and antigen. Negative result. Doctor said sore throat is caused by virus. Two days ago I had cramps, had to vomit, and had a slight fever. Also pimples and small red area on my glans penis. Fever and cramps lasted only 2 days. Further still got folliculitis and acne on chest and upper legs. Don't know what to think.

Measles, varicella and other viruses like parvovirus may present with a rash. If fever progresses and in the presence of eye redness, sore throat and swollen nodes, bring her to a doctor for evaluation.

It looked like a patch of stretched out skin then the larger patch became really noticeable after my sore throat/fever. When the skin contracts is when its really noticeably lighter.
