Avatar n tn There are a few brands out there now designed especially for kids-- I would check the label-- like sunscreens, I think they may say not be be used on kids under 6 months. There are several without deet also. I have heard of using SSS but I've also heard it doesn't really work. I also saw a 'bracelet' thing at Shoppers yesterday that is citronella scented that you wear. May be just another fad that doesn't work. Hopefully mosquito season will pass quickly.

675347 tn?1365464245 You might even try some of the Avon Skin So Soft spray on. You can add the Rose Geranium oil to that and probably get the same effect. The Skin So Soft itself has, for years, been touted as a wonderful non-poisonous insect repellent.
Avatar n tn No deep. They have several different products from skin oil moisturizer to actual dry bug spray. Smells nice and leaves skin soft.
Avatar n tn Even though I don't have pets, I've gone through a wad on flea treatments, Off, Skin So Soft, and citronella candles, nothing seems to help. The fact that I can't see these ever present (things) only serve to intensify a neurological diagnosis (but hell I ain't crazy) Something is itching me, biting me, and something is crawling underneath my skin. I can defintely sympathize with poster who suffers with this while sitting at the computer, that's where I feel it the most.
Avatar f tn Avon skin so soft oil works great and smells good too.....
Avatar m tn I am so grateful to have people to talk to about my "invisible bugs" situation. I first encountered this nightmare in the summer of 2009 while living in a house that was infested by pigeons. They lived on the roof of my house. They are filthy, nasty creatures that poop all over everything. I had them exterminated. But the crawling, biting bugs (bird mites) got in the house and infested the carpet. I got rid of them for about six months.
Avatar n tn I would not use insect repellent on a small child, though if I were going to be outdoors with the toddler a lot I might use Avon's Skin So Soft on him or her. I would not use a yard spray unless possibly at night with all the household windows closed. If you have a flying-insect problem in the house, for flies there is flypaper, for mosquitos and gnats there are screens and traps, for bees there is the vacuum cleaner or those bee traps.
Avatar m tn We recently moved (2 months ago) and I felt the same thing on the couch and bed, even worse actually. So much so that we had to throw the couch out. The couch had a mattress in it, it ended up staying out back for a little while until one day I looked out there and it had little black bugs crawling all over it. During this time it seemed I ws being attacked at night by whatever this is, constant crawling all over my head.
Avatar n tn The best thing to do is not to get bitten, get some insect repellent, try not to wear perfumes, eat garlic or take capsules, some people say skin so soft works but it doesn't keep them away from me,insect spray is the best. If you do get bit vinegar works wonders.. put it directly on the bite with cotton wool or put the affected area ( if possible) in ice cold water thes two things help relive the itch. Hope this helps!!
Avatar n tn If I could add something, though, you can also wipe the kittens down with Avon Skin So Soft, not the new one that is specifically made as an insect repellent, but the original one that is just made to soften skin. The original one still has bug repellent qualities, enough so that it will keep the fleas off the kittens until they are old enough to use an actual flea repellent on them.
Avatar f tn Avon Skin So Soft is great for keeping fleas off newborn puppies and kittens. NOT the Skin So Soft that is actually an insect repellent, but the plain old original Skin So Soft that is used to relieve extremely dry skin. Just put some on your hands and rub it all over the babies, making sure you get through the haircoat and down to the skin.
Avatar f tn I've heard bugspray was a no-no...and that you should use things like Avon Skin So Soft or (this sounds crazy) Listerine, and citronella candles. IF you do use it make sure that you don't put it on your skin or inhale the fumes while it is being sprayed.
276983 tn?1308577648 Avon's Skin So Soft (if you can find it before this weekend) is reputed to be a great and safe insect repellent. I wouldn't use a chemical, I'd dress your darling in a lightweight long-sleeved shirt and hat and all, first.
1460021 tn?1445739558 My mom used to put Avon's Skin so Soft (I thinkthat was the name, been years) as a repellent which is strange...alway's wondered why mosquito's didn't like that. Now we use OFF..lol. The antihistamine I use is called chloretrimeton. It works great for itchy runny nose and sneezing. Not sure if they have that where you are? Are you in Australia?
Avatar f tn FWIW. The story goes if you see the mosquito bite you, hold your breath. It closes the pore holding the plunger long enough for the poison to be injected and withdrawn! Of course, it fixes the mosquito in place allowing instant death OR easy capture for late night mosquito dissection parties. Don't know this would help your allergies but come on, the dissection thing sounds good eh? I admire your decision to hang tough. Lots of people here to help through the low spots. All the very best.
Avatar f tn For the last year or so I have had what I've come to know by searching on line as Smelly Scalp. I have been to a dermatologist twice now and have gotten no answers except to use Nizoral which has not helped in the least. I have tried everything under the sun from sulfur soap to Head n Shoulders to even Listerine but no matter what I do just hours after washing, my scalp gets oily and muggy smelly.
1548538 tn?1293875433 -( While trying to heal the skin try swim in the ocean every day, or make up a salt brine for after your warm shower. You can also internally flush by drinking a 1000ml 'salt water flush' to clear any intestinal parasites. you can read about salt flush online. In this recent week I have taken worm tablets, and changed location. I have disinfected everything, including my car steering wheel and my shoes.
Avatar n tn I asked my doctor once, and the doctor told me they were probably just mosquitos and I needed to buy repellent. Tried insect repellent, didnt work either. Why is this happening? It is so frustrating.
Avatar n tn I too have the same and my skin has gone exceedingly dry also. I have just moved to London ( v cold) so my skin has gone quite a bit drier. Once I moisturise (use Shea Butter formula) the itching goes and they seem to subside. I think it’s a reaction to temp which can affect people with sensitive skin. Just moisturise and exfoliate twice a week to get rid of excess skin and it will help heaps.
472570 tn?1274689487 I read somewhere that they like lactic acid, which is what our muscles produce after excersise or activity. These baths are very drying to the skin so my daughter bought me some udder cream at Walmart and even though they get a little active after I apply it, the sensation dies down in about a second after having applied it. The drying of my skin in the bath is ok because it helps to dry out the bites but the rest of my skin is in need of desperate moisturizing.
Avatar n tn Also washing my face with water with oilatum in it, helped soften the skin. So i would recommend the Aloe vera, it makes any dry skin turn slightly brown and fall off. -Still wishing i would de-swell though :-( -As many of you all i'm getting given from the doctors is drops, with no success.
20391860 tn?1497234141 We circled the airport incessantly, Waiting, waiting.. waiting... Through the clouds I could see my destination,so close but so far beyond any scope of influence I possessed. I remember going through a whole series of emotions ranging from raw indignation to silent plaintive pleas. I also remember, towards the end, grumbling that if I ever actually landed I would swear off flying forever. Last night I found myself saying the exact same thing again.
