Avatar f tn MILK OF MAGNESIA is what my daughter's skin teacher uses for her lupus rashes. She gets them all over her face, neck and body, as does her little brother (3 people in her family have Lupus). The Milk of Magnesia tames the redness. I haven't tried it yet, as I only have a slight "blush" on my face. So I don't worry about it. But give it a try and let us know what you get from it.
Avatar f tn hi, my mum has lupus and she uses a special moisturizin cream u get off the doctor for her dry skin.
Avatar f tn Since you had a rash that was biopsied to be lupus, it is likely that these rashes are also skin lupus. Along with this you could be having systemic lupus. The possibility of lupus affecting blood vessels and causing vasculitis or their inflammation is also possible.
Avatar f tn You know it has similar symptoms and causes rashes. A lot of people have both FM and Lupus.... Girl, only 1 Vicodin a day? Does that really help with your pain that much? If you are having a lot of pain, you should ask for a higher dose of pain meds!!!!! Good luck getting rid of the rashes! Feel better!
Avatar f tn We also cover her with aquaphor ointment twice a day. Her hair has grown back and the Dr. believes the rashes and hair loss are two spearate issues. She is overall very healthy child with no history of eczema or any other rashes. There was one incident, about 1.5 years before the rash appeared, and she was diagnosed with HSP. She had several bug bites, and I thought that may be what caused the vasculitis. They gave her a shot of cortisone and she recovered quickly.
Avatar f tn I have all kind of rashes on my face! I have always had flawless skin and I have developed all kinds of sores and things on my face!!! I am VERY self conscious about it!!!!
1136339 tn?1260661819 There are many illnesses that can cause joint pain and rashes. And certain medicines that can cause a person to be sensitive to the sun. I personally know people who are allergic to the sun. Raynauds can have varying causes. Did your dr. do an ANA, sed rate, CRP? If you have your ANA checked again, I would encourage you to spend time in the sun prior to your test. About 15 min prior to seeing your dr. should be sufficient to make your ANA be positive if you have lupus.
Avatar n tn I suspect it could be lupus because my dad has lupus. I smoke about 15 ciggarettes a day and I know they can increase your chances of getting lupus. I have had these spots on my cheek for about a year and a half. At first it started out with just a red spot on my right cheek this spot continued to get bigger with time. Then I started getting redness under both my eyes and eventually I started getting a red spot on my left cheek as well.

Avatar f tn for the last 3 or 4 years i have an area on my right cheek that always has dry flaky skin and small pimples. At least once a month my cheek and under my eye will begin tingling and a knot will form. The knot causes my skin to be red and bruised and is tender and hot to the touch. Sometimes it will become hollow and fill with puss but most times it will be a flaky red painful lump and go away. This area of my face now has scarring because of this reoccurring issue.
156741 tn?1212748547 The sun still bothers my skin, and I feel like small little needles pinching my skin of my stomach and they run on the sides sometimes.. They come and go.. can this be Fibro.. no joint pains at all but I do have very dry eyes.. I have to go to an especialists for further tests. Maybe I have Sjogren's syndrome I can't wear contact lenses anymore and my mouth gets dry sometimes.. Any help thanks!!!
Avatar n tn If she is diagnosed with the disease, her doctor might start her on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen this is appropriate for patients with non-life threatening symptoms such as joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, and skin rashes. More aggressive treatment which may include high dose corticosteroids or immunosuppressive drugs is used when there are severe organ complications. The benefits and risks of treatment must be weighed by her Rheumatologist. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have extreme pain in my hands, after walking for only 10 mins my feet go numb, I have pain in my feet, i have rashes on different parts of my body, i have very dry eyes and very sensitive skin. If its not lupus what else could i have???
1415174 tn?1453243103 She also has Lupus but she has seen a dermatologist and rheumatologist and they dismiss it as acne. She knows she is out of remission with discoid lupus. But they assured her the 'acne" is not lupus breakout. Since this drug causes a lot of hormonal changes she wondering if it is a sign of anything else going on or a side effect of Armidex? thanks for any help you can give.
20909223 tn?1623357488 So can certain soaps and lotions.) And as I mentioned, lupus is worth investigating. It really is on your doctors to do this diagnosis and figure out what's wrong.
Avatar m tn We see similar signs/symptoms in patients who have chronic intracellular bacterial infections, especially the rashes and Lupus-like symptoms. Often these patients and their physicians are confused, because it is often difficult to clearly diagnose Lupus. Thus such patients usually receive a diagnosis of atypical Lupus or no diagnosis at all. Prof.
Avatar n tn I also feel very tired and depressed all the time. I have some rashes on my skin, biut this is an old problem, and they dissapear right away. I have a positive Ana but it is not high 1:80, centriolle pattern. All my blood test were ok. They sent me to rheum, but I have to wait for two more weeks for the appointment. All my childhood I was very sensitive, I had all sorts of illnesses related with my tonsills. Does anybody knows, could be something else?? Or Lupus???
Avatar n tn t want to worry you but I would ask the doctor to check for lupus. It is a disease that causes rashes and skin problems because the immune system attacks the collagen in the body. Collagen is in all tissue but more in joints and skin. It can be skin anywhere on the body even the mouth. I was tested after getting a weird rash on my face. I was asked if I have had joint pain. I have had it all my life mostly but at least since I was 20. I was 30 when I was tested.
Avatar n tn Yeah, that sounds like the rash associated with gluten sensitivity. Sometimes it looks and feels a bit like poison ivy... I've had Lupus symptoms for a long time but I never went to the doctor for it because I react very badly to prescriptions and I don't care if I get a diagnosis. I just read-up on it and try to find natural treatments on the internet.
Avatar n tn I have systemic and cutaneous lupus. I am a poster person for mylar rashes which are definitely brought on by any exposure to the sun. I also have rosacea; when I get out of a shower or get overheated, I am one red face (and body). The mylar rash is distinct; I have it for a few days and it seems to burn itself out (literally, skin will flake off and that's how I know the rash is going away). Elidel cream is very helpful.
1362765 tn?1277745563 Last saturday I was out in the sun (with SPF!!) and some tiny bumps appeared on my skin, its been 2 days and they keep spreading all over my face, neck, chest, upper arms and upper back til the back of my ears and neck... and still spreading!! They arent itchy nor red, but are so embarassing and so unconfortable. I used to have a beautiful clear skin and this has knocked down my confidence.
19434616 tn?1477610086 Hello, everyone! A year ago I began to get rashes on my legs. I figured it was normal, as I get eczema, and promptly ignored it. I went to a dermatologist after several months, and she diagnosed it as nummular eczema. It's true it looked very similar, but the lotions she suggested didn't help. I went to another dermatologist as they started to show up in other places. She took a skin test, and it came back positive for ringworm.
Avatar f tn Even using these criteria, only 10% of patients with antoimmune hepatitis fulfilled the American College of Rhematolgy criteria for lupus. Many of the physical findings we associate with SLE (rashes and other organ involvement) are usually absent. About 30-60% of those with autoimmune hepatitis also have antibodies to smooth muscle or mitochondria (AMA or SMA). Autoimmune hepatis usually responds to steroids, alpha-interferon and azathioprine.
Avatar m tn My 16yr old daughter has been having a lot swelling and pain in her ankles, fingers and wrists. There is a lot of arthritis and lupus in my family-and I think she may be getting one of those conditions...but her blood work has all been normal. Most evenings she also develops hives on her back and arms. I've taken her to ER, but we still don't know what's causing these ods symtoms.
1415174 tn?1453243103 No I have had lots of general lab tests such as chem panel, Cbc, liver enzymes, lipid panel, iron studies all normal. Haven't been bitten by a tick nor been hiking or anywhere except the sidewalk. I have been tested for lupus but that was in my 20's. It is unusual to get lupus at 50 but not impossible. I had a colonscopy recently and it was negative as well as the upper GI. I don't have colitis or celiac. I certainly am not malnurished.
Avatar f tn Are there any specific skin products ,such as face and body wash, moisturizers with spf, shampoo, suggested for those with very very sensitive skin , itching and rashes? My doctor is no help. Also, clothing.... everything is a blend and I itch with everything! I was wondering what other women use and could suggest or perhaps a site I could visit. I already called the Lupus Foundation and they really were no help. I also am battleing thyroid and celeic disease.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have a complicated medical question, because I feel sick and ill all the time, and my doctor does not know what is wrong. (I also get rashes every day, that are red and itch and last about an hour.) My Complete Blood Count test for red and white blood cells (CBC Test), was normal, but another test for Circulating Immune Complexes (CIC) was abnormal: RAJI Cell Assay >.78 Reference: <.
