Common Questions and Answers about Skin rash descriptions

rash

Avatar m tn In June I met this guy I was the top (safe) and did everything else. Two weeks later I break out in a rash, back chest upper arms and face. From photos on the net and from my Dr. Diagnosis, it's folliculitis. I didn't ask to be tested for HIV, because I've been scared to know. However it's been 3 months and I'm still breaking out in what is not acne. Your thoughts on whether I've contracted something from my descriptions.
Avatar f tn I've heard several descriptions saying it's ok to kiss or share things when a cold sore is completely healed. What does that actually look like? My girlfriend had one start almost two weeks ago. Scab/dead skin fell off a while ago and it was red for a a few days. Now one looks pink and the other seems to be white like her skin. I'm just wondering if she's still contagious.
Avatar m tn There is a slight rash on the left palm. Rash is slightly raised. This has been around for the last 2-3 weeks. Is this considered psoriasis - - and is psoriasis a symptom of HIV? And should also I be concerned about the rash? I have also read on http://www.dermcoll.asn.au/public/a-z_of_skin-hiv_and_the_skin.asp that peeling hands could indicate seroconversion, is this true? Suspected exposure to HIV was in May-Aug 10, and Nov 10. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Your not at any std risk from your massage. Syphilis Chancres appear in the genital area as well as the mouth and lips . For you to have gotten hpv .. She would have had to rub her genitalia vigorously and then in a matter of milliseconds rub it onto your penis , even then it's very low risk . Lastly syhphilis and Hsv are skin to skin Sti which require sex anal or vaginal or even lower risk genital to genital contact. Nothing to worry about here. Good luck.
Avatar f tn ok thanks. And the rash? If it even is a rash? Which prompted the question. Does it mimic that of an ars rash? Or condition?
Avatar f tn For a few years now I've had red/purplish bumps/rash like appearance on the backs of my thighs. Every once in a while I get an even bigger bump that appears to be like a pimple that is sore..otherwise there are always red bumps..somewhat flat..maybe scarred. I do get pimples on my butt occasionally but the constant rash on my thighs seem different. I can't remember my thighs ever really itching from it either.
Avatar n tn It fits all the descriptions of a heat rash but it has been a week now and they are not on the neck, in the groin, under the breasts, or in elbow creases. Just on my arms and legs! I have tried hydrocortizone but as suspected, it was too moist for the area and made the rash feel worse. I am staying away from the New York City sun, no longer jogging at high noon but there is still no sign of improvement. I just got laid off and I am without medical insurance (can't afford Cobra).
Avatar f tn Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and itching. Topical and oral steroids are needed. Water, sweat, and soap may cause irritation and should be avoided in the disease. Topical zinc oxide and calamine lotion are useful for pruritus. Please take a second opinion from a dermatologist if the symptoms persist.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am currently suffering from an unknown skin rash/condition primarily on the front of my neck (collar area). It is difficult to describe completely and is subtle enough that I have ignored it for several years. It began as a small isolated patch of redness. The skin has become bumpy or even could be described as scaly. No lesions, scabs, or significant discoloration occurs but at various points in the day it will become bright red and be irritated.
Avatar m tn It turned red and the skin was raised. A week later, the same spot, while there were no changes in size or shape, was still itchy and slightly raised, but has now turned a mute shade of purple. I thought it might be my deodorant but I have been using the same one for months and I've had no problems. Also it's only on one side -- my right underarm. It's extremely itchy and I have to fight every desire to scratch because it just seems to make it worse.
Avatar f tn I recall my symptoms all starting with a small red, dry, patch of skin on my buttock. A few weeks later the rash remained and I developed a crawling feeeling and tingling in my rectal area, thighs, and vulva (not in my vagina). Later I developed on my feet too. I originally thought maybe yeast.. but no amount of probiotics or antifungals cured it.. not to mention my cultures never grew yeast. It eventually would start to burn and get worse as the day would go on.
Avatar m tn Other possible differential is a sweat rash or miliaria. Sweat rash may also be itchy and they may occur over areas of the body wherein heat or seat may be usually present. Prevent too much sweating and changing to dry clothes often may help alleviate the rash and the itchiness. Topical steroid creams may help for miliaria as well as anti itch creams with camphor or methanol to soothe the area may help.
Avatar f tn Every search result about rashes always shows images or descriptions that don’t apply to me, my rash is not red or inflamed. it literally looks like mosquito bites all over, but WHITE/flesh toned. please help.
Avatar f tn If your child was immunized against chicken pox for sure and is still younger than 3, and you are seeing a rash, it is probably not chicken pox. There are a lot of other rashes kids can get, from Fifth Disease to Impetigo to Thrush. You might google "child rash" and see some of the descriptions.
Avatar n tn m covered in them now. They have like dry skin in the center. THey dont itch. At first I thought it was chicken pox but none of them are that oozey looking kind of bump with ckicken pox. I've been to the doctor once, and they had no clue what it was. They had me tested for high choseltrol...I'm only 26. Does anyone know what this could be? or what I can use to get rid of it!
Avatar f tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear gloves while doing any household work. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn They appear to be right below the skin same color as my skin when I push on them it feels like a hole in my skin. If anyone could possibly tell me what it could be or point me in a direction for results that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Avatar m tn As the week progresses, the bumps grow slightly bigger, get slightly crusty, and there appears to be a little dry skin around them. The area around them looks sort of a whitish look, like dry sweat on a black shirt. Over the next couple days, the redness starts to dissipate, the bumps get smaller, and, in the center of the bump, you can see a small blackhead/whitehead/piece of dry skin/scab looking spot (Hard to tell).
Avatar m tn Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist and get a biopsy skin done. I hope it helps . Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn s not a common area of the body for fungal rash. This rash is mostly on my upper chest lower neck area in smaller spots, it's there for a few days then goes away, this is the third or fourth occasion that it comes and goes. A few months ago I had a similar symptom on my side, but I just thought it was all from dry skin or an allergic reaction. It has since not come back on my side only my neck. My doctor does not know that I'm gay though.
Avatar n tn It looked like dry skin to me so I applied lotion on it and went to sleep. When I woke up the rash was very red and was tender to touch. A few days after that I went to my doctor (again it only was red when it had lotion on it or after a shower) he looked at my penis and said that it was not an STD, but he did give me 1% cortisone lotion to put on it.
Avatar f tn Along with specialmom's recommendations, I'll point out that for some babies, yeast infections that look like diaper rash are a problem. Moms can think they are just garden-variety diaper rash (who knows but that might always have a yeast component too), but then they sometimes find that using a yeast-killing cream on the baby's bottom works a lot better. I used to keep Vagisil in my son's diaper bag for that reason.
