His sklin layers are too thin and his legs are all scarred up because of numerous gashes and stitches as a child and onward. He was diagnosed with this skin disorder as a child but can't remember the name and his mother only knew but she is deceased. Avatar n tn Hi! Peeling skin can be due to dry skin. Fungal and bacterial infection is another. It can even be due to eczema and dermatitis. It can also be return of Kawasaki’s disease. It is difficult to determine the cause on net. Please consult your doctor and get this investigated. Take care!

The procedure is performed in an outpatient facility or, at times, in a hospital. An individual might receive general anesthesia for treatment of deeper layers of the face, and recovery time can take from a few minutes to a few hours. The doctor moves the laser over the area that requires treatment.

Unscented moisturizers containing petroleum jelly such as Vaseline are effective in maintaining rash-free skin. Avatar m tn Hello, Various possibilities for peeling fingertips are contact dermatitis and contact with harsh detergents, soaps and lotions. Sometimes cold, dry air can cause peeling and dermatitis or fungal infections can also cause peeling. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin.

Avatar n tn Hi, A blister is a small pocket of fluid within the upper layers of the skin.A blister usually forms because the outer layer of the skin has become damaged. Fluid collects under the damaged layer of skin, cushioning the tissue underneath, protecting it from further damage and allowing it to heal. Blisters are most common on the hands and feet, as these extremities are susceptible while walking, running, or performing repetitive motions.
Avatar n tn It is due to excessive accumulation of keratin in the outer layers of the skin. Thickening of the skin protects it against rubbing, pressure and irritation. The majority of the forms of hyperkeratosis are painless. Although hyperkeratosis may occur anywhere on the skin, there are several areas that are typically involved. Elbows and knees are common sites for thickening of the skin.

Avatar n tn Too much soapy water, exposure to harsh chemicals, the normal aging process and certain types of skin diseases are some of the causes of decreased amounts of protective skin oils which in turn causes dry skin. The mainstay of management is liberal use of moisturizers after washing with luke warm water. Soap should be used minimally. Moisturizers should be reapplied liberally during the day.You can also use a topical cortisone (steroid) cream or ointment like dermacort(hydrocortisone).

Avatar n tn You may have thickening of the skin, called hyperkeratosis, which can also be treated, though very slowly, with medications that gradually thin extra layers of skin. Or you may have eczema, which can be treated with cortisone creams. You need to work wioth a dermatologist on this. But I can't see any of these possibilities turning you entirely white. Best. Dr.
