Skin infection ringworm

Common Questions and Answers about Skin infection ringworm

Avatar n tn Can you elaborate on the appearance of the skin lesion? Diagnosis of a fungal infection would be through analysis of the skin scrapings under the microscope. It would be best to have it evaluated by a dermatologist to rule out other causes. Treatment of hyperpigmentation may include hydroquinone, kojic acid, azelaic acid, ascorbic acid, tretinoin, topical glucocorticoids, and licorice extract. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have been dealing with a ringworm infection on my arm for the past 3 months. Its not getting any better despite applying medical treatments prescribed by the doctor, and antifungal natural remedies such as apple cider vinegar. Instead, it has spread downwards towards my hand! The remedies i am using are supposed to work, but somehow it is not getting better! Is it because I put a bandage around my arm everytime i apply the ointments? Should I be even bandaging my arm?
Avatar n tn Rashes on skin are temporary conditions affecting athletes that can sometimes be a warning sign of a serious skin infection.
252492 tn?1205609298 I assume like any fungal infection, ringworm thrives on moisture, so if you're sweating at all and moisture's getting trapped under your bracelet, you could easily get ringworm. Anyway, it's very common, like athlete's foot or jock itch. Take it easy. I know at least three people who've had it (none HIV - positive).
Avatar m tn Skin conditions are tough. Doctors often forget to check for food allergies. This could be a gluten allergy. It could also be related to colitis, so if you have any intestinal symptoms, you need to get that checked out. Don't just let them give you an antiinflammatory cream to treat the symptom. Sometimes dermatologists are either lazy or clueless about food allergies and other causes of skin problems.
Avatar m tn Hello doctor, I'm a hetro male, 34, from London UK desperately in need of advise. I've already posted in the 'open' forum and gotten some positive advise, but would like your opinion also. In the past few months I've visited 6 different escorts in different brothels, specifically for protected hand-jobs, by which I mean ALWAYS with a condom. I'd assumed what I was doing was about as safe as it gets for such visits. However.
Avatar n tn Hi Yendor, Welcome to the Senior Health Forum. I am so glad that you found us and took the time to post. There are so many dermatology conditions that sometimes even the dermatologists can diagnosis them without pathology to identify the exact problem. However if you have one, two or a few red circles Ringworm is a good possibility as so noted my aheart. Ringworm and Athlete's Foot are the same condition. They are caused by the Tinea Fungus.
Avatar f tn My skin fungal infection, not ringworm, was cleared with an antifungal prescription cream, selsun blue shampoo daily (full body) and coconut oil (both oral and topical), avoidance of sugars, most carbs and alcohol. In your case, there are a few possibilities: 1.The original ringworm was not fully cleared and it progressed to more severe fungal infection. 2. You developed a secondary bacterial infection 3.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted a question a couple weeks ago about my ringworm. ( ) Since then, I suspected another ringworm infection on my left thumb and began applying Lotrimin on that 2x a day. Then I saw a dermatologist who checked the scrapings of my lesion, which came out as negative.
Avatar m tn Hello, 2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a ringworm infection (1 large spot on my back). Was prescribed Canestan (1% Clotrimazole cream). Been applying twice a day and my welt was starting to clear up. Last night I noticed 2 other welts on my stomach! Now I have 2 questions: 1) How does one catch ringworm? I haven't been in direct skin-to-skin contact with another person. Could I had neglected to properly disinfect my shower or wash often my towels/linens? 2) How infectious is ringworm?
Avatar n tn A darkening discoloration with itchiness may be due to a dermatitis or a fungal infection. These skin conditions are characterized by itchiness. I suggest that you have this assessed by his dermatologist. The darkening may be secondary to the frequent scratching in the area as well as the friction caused by the contact of the skin of both thighs. It is best to have your doctor assess this as this may need topical medications. Are there any blisters in the area? Any redess or pain?
Avatar m tn anyone can get ringworm and eczema. symptoms dont diagnose hiv...a test does.
Avatar n tn s like a bunch of little white heads on 1 flat bump. I thought this was ringworm, but jeez i keep my stuff extremely clean, seems impossible. So now i'm noticing theres one on my arm, forearm, side of my stomach it comes on my leg (and one in an unmentionable place) I'm not understanding what this is, my kids keep on getting these infestations on their body also.
Avatar n tn Both ringworm and yeast infection are fungus. in fact one of the very best treatments for ringworm is monostat mixed with hibiclense I am not a medical pro, but I did rescue 3 infested kittens 4 years ago and my hairless dogs got ringworm. from that i learned the ringworm spores can live many months. I bought a woods lamp, only to discover all ringworms do not florese. dry skin does florese. grr a waste of good money.
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be ringworm or nummular dermatitis. Ringworm is a fungal infection and nummular dermatitis is a type of eczema and allergic reaction is one of the commonest symptom. To confirm the diagnosis however you need to consult a dermatologist as both present as ring like itchy lesions. Treatment is different for both. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn A yeast infection on the skin is not like a vaginal yeast infection. It can look like a bad diaper rash. When my son would get one of those when he was still in diapers, I would sometimes treat it (his bottom) with Vagisil. Not all diaper rashes are yeast- based, but some sure are.

Avatar f tn This is to find out IF I have ringworm or not and what the heck is going on with my skin. My co-worker so-called friend said if I have ringworm than I should not be at work. I really don't have anything to say to her about anything right now. Ladybug - Thank you! I will check out that website ASAP.
