Common Questions and Answers about Skin infection blisters

infection

Avatar n tn Contact dermatitis, which is an allergic reaction to something applied to the skin. Herpes infection, either a cold sore (Herpes simplex) or shingles. Most of the time shingles occupies a larger area than a cold sore, but that is not a hard and fast rule. Both of these should be treated with an antiviral medication. This is particularly true if the tip of the nose also has blisters.
Avatar f tn Continuous irritation can cause blisters in that area. Although it is best to go to the Dr as some sort of virus can cause it. Also if it's from the irritation then you need to check you don't have an infection under the skin or that an infection doesn't start. Don't worry it shouldn't be anything worse than that. Many people get them after colds from rubbing there nose with tissue too much (obviously I'm not a Dr though.
Avatar n tn It needs to be differentiated from infectious folliculitis (secondary to infection) as skin is enriched with hair follicles. It may be due to bacteria like staphylococcus, streptococcus etc. Other possibilities are fungal infection (tenia barbae) or irritant dermatitis etc. Picking or squeezing lesions should be avoided as this may worsen lesions and cause inflammation and scarring as your hands are prime source of infection. Moisturizers and Sun protection will help protect the skin.

Avatar f tn “Typically, patients who are ultimately diagnosed with PCT first seek treatment following the development photosensitivities in the form of blisters and erosions on commonly exposed areas of the skin. Avatar f tn A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin. Recurrent boils are found in diabetes, HIV infection, or other immune system disorders.

I am diabetic and had horrible itchy skin all over but dry and red on my legs .I had a appointment where they took a biopiosy with no conclusive results. Avatar n tn The unbroken skin over a blister provides a natural barrier to infection. This means that you should try to keep blisters intact and unbroken in order to avoid infection. Try not to pierce a blister with a needle, but allow it to break on its own once the skin underneath has healed. Let us know if you need any further information. Regards.
Avatar m tn Greetings, i had sex with a girl three weeks ago, after the first week the skin under my forehead started to peel off and there was a smelly white substance. I got dry flaky skin but also experienced 2-3 very very small white blisters/lesions on my penis shaft. The redness went away the first week, the blisters created a black spot on them and left too afte 3 days or so but the itchiness is still there mostly on the sides where the legs connect, the skin on my penis now is shiny.
Avatar m tn Herpes sores on the penis head are rare and not common at all. Herpes is contracted by direct skin to skin rubbing friction and during oral sex its the shaft of the penis that gets this type of friction not the penis tip as is too sensitive for this type of rubbing. Its not saying that its not but rare and would not be overly concerned its genital. Just keep an eye out if they return and have them swabbed within 48 hours after appearing.
Avatar n tn We have not had unprotected sex but he has blisters and his blisters have come in contact with my skin. We shower together, sleep naked together, and I may have touched it. How likely is it that I have caught the herpes virus from him? Although I got a blood test yesterday, this herpes thing is a recent discovery for us (as if 1 week ago) therefore I am afraid my body had not yet built herpes 2 antibodies and the results will be inaccurate. Any help?
Avatar m tn Herpes simplex is most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual. Transmission may also occur through skin-to-skin contact during periods of asymptomatic shedding. The only way of ruling it out is by getting yourself tested for genital herpes. Laboratory tests include: culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA.

Avatar n tn Three weeks after having unprotected oral and vaginal sex I developed blisters on my right thigh between my scrotum and thigh, basically in the skin folds. They are individual blisters and not clusters with 2 or three appearing at a time a few inches apart. These blisters appeared overnight and swelled until they burst by contact/rubbing on underwear. They went away after a few days and then developed on the left side and went away after a couple of days.
Avatar n tn Blisters are most common on the hands and feet, as these extremities are susceptible while walking, running, or performing repetitive motions. Blisters form more easily on moist skin than on dry or soaked skin, and are more common in warm conditions. Sometimes, the skin can blister when it comes into contact with a cosmetic, detergent, solvent or other chemical; this is known as contact dermatitis. Blisters can also develop as a result of an allergic reaction to an insect bite or sting.
Avatar n tn ve seem some pictures similar to Herpes, but, I did not have any tingling, burning, itching, no blisters that formed and broke, no fever. It was a chaffed piece of skin that I opened up by picking at it that started this all off. My main question I guess is does this all sound reasonable? I am now somehow worried that I may have a latent staph infection or something that occurs, or have a skin cancer. Any help?
Avatar f tn I woke up few days ago with pain on my right bum cheek, saw that a small bit of skin was kind of peeled off. Dismissed it until the next day when few cms below there, I saw another boil/blister. It's tender to touch, not itchy at all (I did not even feel these two blisters forming), and there seemed to be some clear liquid inside (not puss, I think). It's now kinda turning black and the area around is darkening.

Avatar f tn When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur. Typically, another outbreak can appear weeks or months after the first, but it almost always is less severe and shorter than the first outbreak.
1564229 tn?1296176789 Hair follicles that are blocked by greasy creams, petroleum jelly, or similar products are more vulnerable to infection. Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle. Apply warm compresses on the bumps and keep the area clean. Drainage of the bump is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head.
