Skin cream to reduce redness

Common Questions and Answers about Skin cream to reduce redness

Avatar f tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. Individuals who are predisposed to folliculitis should be extremely careful about personal hygiene. Application of antiseptic washes may help prevent recurrences. A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils.
Avatar f tn There should also be information that came with the prescription so read that about any side effects and warnings. You may have to stop using the cream. If it hurts deeper than the skin surface you may have a deeper skin infection that may have to be treated by antibiotics. Phone up on Thursday for advice.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I have had symptoms since last June (07) that I have had all infectious conditions ruled out. I am now looking at biopsy of the vulvar skin to uncover some answers, so I wanted to post here to see if any other women have gone to a dermatologist and had results. I have posted on the women's health forums here, but since i have ruled out std's, fungus, bacteris, yeast, hormone levels, strep-B, etc etc, this is clearly a skin issue.
Avatar m tn My face is red along my jawline both sides from approximately bottom of my ear to my chin. Is there anyway to reduce the redness to its original state? I have this redness for a long time. Im using Avene light hydrating cream for the dryness. Any advice is welcomed.
Avatar m tn I have some slight redness at the end of my penis. It started several weeks ago and was itchy and very dry. I was told it was eczema and tried some steroid cream. The itchiness and dryness improved quickly. I now have no pain, itchiness, or flaky skin. It seems like it is still a bit red but I'm not sure if I'm just looking at at too much. As I thought it was still red, I have also tried an antifungal cream for about a week and it has not changed.
Avatar n tn Eventually with the antibiotics the burning sensation while peeing went away but not the redness around the urethra. I applied some anti-fungus cream and some antibiotic cream, after reading some related articles on the web, but the redness is still there. Sometimes it almost disappears and then some other times it comes back and have this burning sensation (very mild but I can feel it). Any ideas what this might be? Can it be HPV?
Avatar n tn Then you will have to put up with these statements on a daily basis: 1. Somebody has been golfing a bit too much eh? (I don't golf)2. Man you got some sun this weekend !!(stayed indoors all weekend) 3. Sheez man, did you go out drinking last night???? You are red!!! (I don't drink, had a beer maybe two years ago once) 4. Let's take a break, Mr. _______ is looking a bit stressed.....
Avatar n tn Use a bland cleanser such as Physiological cleanser by La Roche-Posay and consider taking an antihistamine tablet to reduce the redness (available without prescription, always read the label). The most common topical treatment for rosacea is Metrogel (metronidozole). Be careful using this on acne-prone skin as it can make skin more greasy. Ask your dermatologist about another course of Roaccutane, 20% of patients need a second course.
Avatar f tn Betamethasone (the steroid in Lotrisone) is a class 2 steroid, it's very strong! Both the penis and scrotum skin have a very high absorption rate and you are more likely to experience the side effects of lotrisone in those areas (which are:itching, skin irritation, dry skin, changes in skin color, increased acne, burning/tingling/stinging skin, or scarring or thinning of the skin.
Avatar n tn Hi, It could be eczema, sweat dermatitis, allergic reactions or eczema. You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .
Avatar m tn Hello, The excessive oiliness of the skin is triggered by the hormonal changes in the body. This can be easily dealt with proper cleansing and frequent toning and moisturizing of the skin. Apart from that regular exfoliation also helps. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn I would use a cold compress or ice pack first. If this does not work, you can try Benadryl cream or any cream containing diphenhydramine. It is very important NOT to apply this close to or in the eye directly.
Avatar n tn Moistening agents are called 'emollients'. In general, it is best to match thicker ointments to the driest, flakiest skin. Some common emollients for the relief of eczema include Oilatum, Balneum, Medi Oil, Diprobase, bath oils and aqueous cream. Sebexol, Epaderm ointment and Eucerin lotion or cream may also be helpful with itching. Lotions or creams may be applied directly to the skin after bathing to lock in moisture. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn We consulted a dermatologist and check he diagnosed as balanitis and gave me TECZIN 5 mg tabs and fucidin H cream and T-top 0.03% cream. Now My skin is totally fine but my urinal tract is paining at times which makes me uncomfortable. My first doctor told me that there may or may not be an STD, its just depends on one's own resistance. This may be even some bacterial infection or vaginal infection which I would've received from the sex worker.
Avatar f tn Rosacea is a medical condition presenting with redness, swelling, discoloration and sometimes pimples and dry skin over the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead. Avoid the sun and hot weather, spicy foods, alcohol, and hot beverages. Also try to reduce stress as it may precipitate attacks. Treatment options for rosacea vary from antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens to laser treatment. You should consult a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn I decided to try something new today, so after shaving I applied Banana Boat's Moisturizing Aloe After-Sun Lotion to the area and it burned like crazy! I just want the redness to go away. I have really good skin other than the area I just described. Is there an over-the-counter solution to this problem?
Avatar m tn I have uploaded a picture, probably not the best ones but i posted where exactly i have the redness on my skin. Please can you suggest any cream that I can put on it to reduce the redness. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Usually the process seems to help (first few days), and then goes terribly wrong after a few weeks, and I always end up with a red face and oily skin. The only thing that seemd to help the redness was steroids in a cream, but I was informed by my doctor that long term steroid use isn't good for the skin. I have read about Vitamin B5 to reduce oily skin, but not sure what that would help. I want to solve my problem from the source, and I know it has to be all connected in some way.
Avatar f tn A mild cleanser (such as Neutrogena's grapefruit acne wash), a alcohol-free toner (such as Boots, Neutrogena, or the Body Shop), and a quality facial moisturizer (such as Boots, the Body Shop, Olay, Aveeno) should be used day and night. Rinse your face with cold water to reduce redness and inflammation. If you wear make-up, look for non-acneic or non-comdegenic labels and never go to bed with it on.
Avatar n tn All need to be frozen in order to cure you and then to reduce the likelihood of you infecting your GF, your concerns about oral sex, etc. Just go on and get it done. The rash on your scrotum could be an allergy or it could be a fungal infection. Neosporin is not really good for either. When you go to get your molluscum frozen, had the doctor take a look at the rash. He/she can tell you if this is an allergy or fungus and then treat it appropriately.
Avatar m tn I did a thourogh examination on my own after I got out of the shower and all was normal. I decided to wear no underwear to reduce the irritation that day. Got to work and examined myself around 10am while taking a bathroom break and noticed that on the top part of the shaft of my penis, near where it meets my lower abdomen, that i had two slightly raised scaly spots. One was the size of a pen mark and one was a bit bigger and longer. It literally appeared withing a 3 hour time frame.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have mild -> moderate acne. I do not have spots, but do have blotchy red skin. This blotchyness is only on my cheeks. (not chin, nose, etc). Im wondering if there is anything i can do to get rid of this? I have tried many many products (acuzine - herbal antioxidant tablets, dermalogica (anti-bac skin wash),clean & clear (many different products which contained salicylic acid),'s "Treatment" which is a benzoyl peroxide cream. The products which benzoyl peroxide (2.
Avatar f tn My hands tend to be heavily effected because I wash them more frequently than other parts of my body (duh) and soap is one of the things that my skin reacts to. (If you want to try switching soaps to see if that helps, old fashioned castile soap is the one that seems to work for the worst sufferers of skin allergies/sensitivities. I like Kirk's.) My third thought might very well go in conjunction with either of the other two.
7454812 tn?1391881031 Im 20 weeks 2days and im starting to show more. My skin is itching because of the strectching. What are you ladies doing to get rid of it?
Avatar m tn That is an inflammatory condition. Doctors may tell you to use a cream, but the cream may thin your skin and discolor it. You may have better luck reducing foods that are inflammatory, such as sugar and grains and reduce sugary drinks. Tea tree oil may help. Google rosacea and see what other say. I think it can be related to celiac disease.
Avatar n tn I've tried changing my diet, not wearing wool, anti-fungal cream, antibiotic cream, and hydrocortisone (still using that one to reduce itching). I can't tell if it's spreading or just shifting. Just tonight, I've started on Allegra (don't usually take it, but have it) thinking maybe a little internal anti-allergy thing could help. I suppose I need to see a doc. But, I'm not sure if I should see an allergist, dermatologist, or my general physician.
679466 tn?1247009654 Redness, skin irritation and itching are very common symptoms of allergies in dogs. Since the symptoms come and go and improve with the cortisone cream, she most likely has allergies to environmental factors such as pollen, grass, and dust.
Avatar n tn Is there anything I can take or do that really will reduce the amount of oil my skin produces, and anything oil free that will calm the redness? 2. I have uncontrollable acne on my chest and back (2/3 of my back is severely broken out). What is the best treatment for this? 3. I tweeze dark hair from my face since shaving & other hair removal methods I tried didn't bring the desired results.
