skelaxin

Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar f tn It is the exact same opiate. Oxycodone. The only difference is that it lasts longer. Obviously the Percocet has Acetaminophen in it..so if you are on Oxycontin you can always add a Tylenol if needed. But this is going to not make sense to your Dr. if you tell them this. And with spine issues....an opiate is not the main medication for treatment. Most patients are on a nerve pain medication like Lyrica, Neurontin, or Cymbalta.
Avatar m tn Any relief from a narcotic (oxycodone, hydrocodone, demerol etc) will, be shot-lived; The receptors for pain medication in your brain simply adjust to whatever you are taking, and the dose must be increased to relieve the pain again. At some point you will run out of room to keep going up on the dose.
Avatar m tn You have plenty of other medication choices to move to and see if this helps. Oxycodone is the next medication up or even Oxycontin in a low dosage like 10mg twice a day as this would be a bit higher strength than what you are taking now but would give you more steady pain relief throughout the day. Oxycontin is just plain Oxycodone in a long acting formula. You are also on a very low dosage of the Gabapentin. It can be dosed all the way up to 3600mg a day.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar m tn Hey, I have been on oxycodone for four years for chronic back pain. All of the sudden every time that I take one I am having heart palpatations, sweating, trembling, muscle spasms, shorness of breath, and dizziness. I have been to two doctors and both say that it is just anxiety but I am convinced that it is oxycodone. They say that I would have had trouble before now but this is only happening after I take a dose.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar n tn I was referred to pain management from my neuro and my new pmd is sending me for a urine drug screen. Reading from my paper, I'm being screened for Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cannabinoid, Cocaine, Opiates and Phencyclidine. That's it. And they are not using a gas chromotography to test for opoids. For those of you in pain management, is this just a baseline type screening, or are they digging with those?
Avatar m tn Like most I have always had general back pain I had several surgeries a few years ago where I was in the hospital 2 weeks with gallstones that dissolved and part of the sludge entered my pancreas that ate a hole through it causing 10 litters of fluid to build up behind my lungs. They basically cut me sternum to spine that & used a rib splitter. it causes pain under my breast still. Then last year was in a car accident that caused bulging discs to hit nerves in my lumbar and cervical.
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
Avatar m tn Anyone know anything about skelaxin? My doc just sent a script for that To my pharmacy in place of soma....
450140 tn?1317947304 Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health.
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar f tn As the result of a back injury in February, I began taking Soma and 10 mgs of hydrocodone at night to help me sleep. I took no pain killers during the day, just Skelaxin. I stopped taking Skelaxin several weeks ago and am now in the process of discontinuing the Hydrocodone. I took the last Soma and 1/2 of a 5 mg tablet several nights ago. This is my second round with trying to get off this med. The problem is the insomnia or sleeplessness that occurs in the middle of the night.
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
Avatar f tn depakote, solu-cortef (hydrocortisone), zofran (not sure why...
Avatar f tn ve been prescribed skelaxin to help with the horrible cramped up groin issues and gluteus cramping and tightening. I personally think skelaxin is hit or miss. I do seem to notice some difference. Finally sent for a surgical consult on my spine (man he was wonderful) but he took one look at my spine and said people can function with my back issues for years. That I'd eventually need repairs but not now. He suggested it was my hips. So.
Avatar m tn I have taken muscle relaxers, migraine meds, prednisone (6 days) and more and more Skelaxin. I started seeing a neurologist two weeks ago and he put me on the prednisone and skelaxin he also did a MRI (w/o contrast) that came back negative.
Avatar f tn My spouse has chronic, debilitating pain and sees a pain specialist who prescribes him a 30 day supply (120 tabs) of 10/325 oxycodone/month for the past few years. Six of my spouse's sibblings and his father all suffered (died) directly and/or indirectly from chemical addictions. I accidentally discovered that my spouse is also getting another 120 tabs (2 week supply) of 5/325 from his PCP.
Avatar m tn I HAVE ORDERED MY ALINIA, SKELAXIN AND REQUIP FROM CANADA. YOU DO HAVE TO HAVE A VALID SCRIPT. ON MY REQUIP AND SKELAXIN I JUST CAREFULLY PEELED LABELS AND COPIED THEM AND FAXED IN. I USE PROGRESSIVE RX. JUST GO TO THEIR WEBSITE. FROM WHAT I RESEARCHED THIS ONE IS CHEAPEST, SEEMS TO BE ON THE UP AND UP.
198419 tn?1360242356 Thanks you guys! I'll be talking w/ Dr today I hope. I have chosen Copaxone. With my school and ER schedule, it will fit the best. As far as the cramping goes... it has calmed down to a constant tight muscle so I think it's getting better. I'm going to request a RX for Skelaxin (Methocarbamol) to help. It's a non narcotic/sedating muscle relaxer I can take during the day. I'm also considering trying samples of that med to help w/ fatigue... Provigil?
