Six pack abs and body fat

Common Questions and Answers about Six pack abs and body fat

six-pack

Avatar f tn s Gym, which is one of the hardest core gym in the country, and I watch a lot of sports, and almost nobody has six pack abs except the ones who use steroids or have remarkable genetics. You guys have been reading too many Arnold Swarzenegger publications.
Avatar f tn t be noticeable if you have a layer of fat covering them. To lower your body fat percentage, choose lean protein and vegetables as your staples, and good fats (omega 3s and 6s) in moderation. Limit or avoid altogether sugar and simple carbs (including beer!), while doing 30-60 minutes of cardio 3-to-5 times a week. In conjunction to cardio, crunches (front and side crunches) and weight lifting will build lean muscle and speed your metabolism.
Avatar n tn We all know that no amount of sit-ups or crunches will give you a six- pack! A six-pack is the result of a clean diet as stated above, low body fat and hard, hard training. Crunches are what I consider a good "finisher" at the end of your core training, poor form often results in not much else than a sore neck. Instead, work your core with dynamic stabilizing moves.
Avatar n tn However, the length of time it takes to get-six pack abs depends upon your gender, how consistently you train and whether or not you have an excess amount of body fat. Strength train consistently and follow a hypertrophy, or muscle building, program. That's a high frequency of training sessions, with each session being of high volume. Rectus abdominus muscles like all muscles in your body require a rest from strength training, so allow 48 hours of recovery time between training sessions.
Avatar n tn For a six-pack to show, you must reduce body fat. The body fat percentage necessary to reveal a cut torso varies according to your genes and body type, but for most men, a percentage of 6 to 8 percent will reveal abs, while for women require a percentage of about 11 to 13 percent. To reduce body fat, reduce calories below what you burn daily, which can be determined by finding your basal metabolic rate. A 250- to 500- deficit daily will lead to a 1/2- to 1-pound weight loss in a week.
Avatar f tn The goal should really be to decrease belly fat. I work out a lot, but my body just will never have the Hollywood abs mythos and I am fine with that. You are right. Its not normal.
Avatar f tn Avoid deep fried foods, processed foods, refined foods and foods high in saturated fats. Eat foods that are nutrient-dense, high in fiber and low in fat, eat lean meats, low fat dairy, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and legumes. No liquid calories. If you want to get a six pack in a month, then no useless calories in the form of alcohol and at your age I'm sure you aren't drinking alcohol! sugared beverages like soda, sweetened teas and coffee drinks.
Avatar f tn Running, tennis, kickboxing and rowing all use the core to stabilize the upper body during the workout. The abs engage, and at the same time get stronger and more defined. Doing ab exercises is the best way to sculpt the six-pack. While the rectus abdominus is the muscle that forms the washboard look, you don't want to ignore the other muscles, especially the internal and external obliques, which are used in rotation.
Avatar m tn First you're only 16 so you're still growing. But understand this! The steps to get the low body fat levels necessary to show six-pack abs are very, very strict than those you'd have to do to drop a few pounds and reach a healthy weight and, may not even be possible, depending on your genetic makeup. A six-pack is when your body fat level is low enough to reveal the segments that divide your front sheath of muscle fibers on your torso.
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, I have been trying these for months and months but it doesn’t help me anymore. I am talking about six pack abs that I am trying to get. I joined a gym for this and the trainer told me that I would get them…but NOOOO!! That did not help me and later on I have tried a few tips that I have been suggested by my friends but that also was of no use (the whole thing helped the abs a little…but not as I wanted).
Avatar m tn A push-up not only helps you to get a stronger upper body, but also a stronger midsection. It incorporates the stabilization muscles of your core, combining an upper-body pushing movement with a plank. It is, in fact, one of the best and most basic exercises for your midsection. Push-ups are a higher value plank.

Avatar f tn Unfortunately there isn't enough information about what you're exercise routine is. If all you're doing is cardio and legs...... You're not necessarily going to lose weight and it definitely won't get you a six pack. You're nutrition is going to be about 90% of it but if you want to see those abs you're going to need to change up your routine.
Avatar f tn I've been exercising for long time and i can feel my six pack (when i push my finger on my belly) but it's hidden under a layer of fat. Why? What should i do? Any tips?
Avatar n tn The stabilizing muscles in your abs, upper and lower back, and shoulders work harder than they would in a traditional plank. Anti-Rotation Crunch Attach a rope to the low pulley of a cable station and lie on your back alongside the stack. With both hands, hold the rope in front of your chest. Perform a crunch, arms locked, and don't let your torso rotate (even though the cable pulls you sideways). Pause, and return to the starting position. Do 15 reps, switch sides, and repeat.
Avatar f tn You get a flat stomach by dieting, any exercise will help build some muscle there but most people have a six pack underneath the fat already, and everyone has a "flat stomach underneath the fat.. This is why and on skinny guys don't count :P Also, a lot of people's pooch or whatever you call it has a lot to do with inflammation of the digestive track.
Avatar f tn So...I need a list of exercises for abs (to lose some fat and accentuate the muscles, I expecially need to accentuate lateral abdominals); to lose the fat under my arms; for legs (expecially thighs, I need to lose fat AND muscular mass)...could you help me? Please specify the name of the exercises and the number of times and repetitions...thank you!
Avatar f tn Abs aren't really the core -- those are the muscles beneath the ones you can see. The only way you're going to get there is to work hard at training. Do you have access to a good personal trainer? Also remember that women have a harder time getting the definition men can get because of lower testosterone. When you see anyone, though, with those really tight abs they either work incessantly at it or they're taking steroids, especially the women.
Avatar m tn yoga to relax. fat around the med section is more than likely STRESS so relax. Have some fun. If I looked at you and though "aw he is skinny" really what do you want? that sounds mean but it REALLY is not meant to be; but I would really like to know what look you are going for.

Avatar f tn I got my six pack back after my first. After my 4th, it was harder. I was able to have definition but always had a bit of a pooch in the lower area. I'm sure it will be the same after babe 5.
Avatar f tn squats and ab work, but you need to lose weight all over your body to flatten the abs. Plus, you don't want to work the ads a lot. Like once or twice a week for like 10 each time.
Avatar n tn It also depends what body shape you have, some people store more fat on their belly. And it depends what you define as big, some people just have a warped perception that their belly is too big ;) So if your healthy, I'd keep up a good level of exercise and a balanced diet, but don't go extreme.
Avatar f tn The stomach is the hardest part to remove fat from and usually the last when all other body areas have had fat removed from. Just keep doing what you are doing and I promise the fat will go. Stomach crunches will only tone muscles underneath the fat. It won't burn fat itself so in my opinion, they are useless for fat removal. Lots of cardio and weight lifting should do the trick.
Avatar f tn I work out at least 6 days a week, two times a day if we weight train so that I get my cardio in. I have had a beautiful bikini body (with some residual loose skin and fat around the hips, abs and thighs due to my former heaviness and 4 kids). Last summer my legs looked fantastic and I was wearing a size 4 and looked almost like I could be in a fitness magazine aside from those issues just mentioned.
Avatar f tn According to “Combat the Fat” author Jeff Anderson, new research suggests that you may be able to spot reduce body fat from your abdomen. Choose an exercise for the upper abs, one for the lower portion of the muscle and another for the obliques (love handle areas). For example do a giant set of crunches, reverse crunches and side jackknifes. This means you do one set of as many crunches as you can, then do as many reverse crunches and follow that with side jackknifes.
