Singulair use in dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair use in dogs

singulair

Avatar m tn I have mild asthma. I do not use inhalers at this time. I'm a singer, age 62 in generally good health. My allergy season is January through March in Arizona. It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications.
Avatar m tn s an allergic reaction to my dogs. I have had dogs my whole life and never had any problems like this before. I swear I went to bed "normal" one night and woke up the next day with this stuff. I have had test after test and they can find nothing for this. I refuse to get rid of my dogs. They are too old and comfortable where they are, and i adore them, so I'll have to wait some time to see if that could of been it or not. Anyway, do you have pets?
370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar m tn hav been taking singulair for 3 years. Cramps in fingers, throat and leg occured common. Shoulders drooped. Standing and sitting posture gone really bad. Extreme tiredness 24X7. Always thirsty even after gulping bottles of water. Inactive physically and mentally. Become even more inferior in social gatherings and activities. Can't even meet minimum commitments and thus affects career and personal, family relationships. After dropping Everything became normal after 8 - 10 days.
Avatar f tn I was on symbicort but that made me to anxious. Singulair made me too anxious too. My daughter takes singulair every night and still has asthma and allergies flare ups. Veramyst nasal spray works best for me and nasonex is ok. I don't know which antihistamine medicine works best, I've tried them all too and they all have a side effect,.
Avatar m tn My grandson is 8 and in 3rd grade.he was a sweet, caring child. he was scared of just about everything and is overly senitive. He has allgeries and has been going thru shots for that. its just he's turned around. if something doesn't go right he flips out. he argues always with his 6 yr old sister. He has even hit her which he never did before. He is a excellent student with no trouble there with other students and has super grades. he has such adatuide.
Avatar f tn What antihistamines have you used? It wasn't an antihistamine with a decongestant or Benadryl was it? Singulair can be used for Allergic Rhinitis like you have, however, this is usually prescribed for someone with Asthma issues secondary to Allergic Rhinitis. What nasal steroid are you using? Most of them can be used long term.
1135961 tn?1279145314 I was told not to use it by my doctor but I ignored them because it is the only way I can comfortably sleep in the winter. I then bought a device to measure the humidity in my room and guess what, even with the humifier on all night, every night it never goes above 30% humidity. This is because I live in Calgary, Alberta and we are at high altitude and very dry air.
Avatar f tn So we will see how that goes. She was tested earlier in the year for the basic allergies like to cats, dogs, eggs etc and they all came back negative. Maybe I will have her tested again.
Avatar f tn I have always had difficulty breathing in high humidity. My doctor told me that I am most likely allergic to mold, and the humidity is causing this to be worse. I have been prescribed an albuterol inhaler, and usually only have to use it about 3 weeks out of the year. Otherwise, I take Singulair year round. This year the humidity is especially high. I have had trouble breathing for over a month now.
1154802 tn?1266485720 Long-term use of prednisone or inhaled steroid does have serious side effects. It wrecks your adrenals, worsens your asthma, harms your eyes and, in my case, caused frightening choking. I don't use that junk anymore and take natural anti-inflammatories instead. No side effects to those. Check the new FDA warnings involving these poisons.
Avatar m tn i was not warned of the possible side effects like so many other parents and patients. there is also some thought that singulair is being linked to suicide in teenagers. you can google suicide and singulair and watch a family's story about their son's suicide. also look up your child's medications on www.medications.com. i hope this message reaches other parents with children on singulair.
Avatar n tn In june i hit my head and ended up with a concusion and again in november while steping over my dogs hit my head nockingmyself unconcious. I am not sure if the concusions have anything to do with it but I like to know if these symptos could be something more then just enviromental alergies. I use nasonex, and antihistimines, I was on prednizone 5mg and also was on singulair even though I do not have asthma my dr took me off nasonex and put me on flownase with no change.
640719 tn?1277140030 hmmmm Singulair is also an allergy medication (or suppose to be) but it may not be enough for you to control hayfever. It affects a different part of the immune system than the typical antihistamines so some people it works better on, some it does not work as well. From what I got out of the research results if that it does help allergic symptoms but not a huge amount, that is why it is an asthma medication that can also help allergies.
Avatar n tn Instead, ask your son’s doctor whether you can use Singulair 4mg granules. Do discuss this dosing with your son’s doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar m tn Then you use saline spray as maintenance if you nose gets dry. Use 1/2 teaspoon plain salt in 8 oz. water to make saline solution yourself. You should have enough to use. Post your feed back so we can see how it works.
Avatar f tn My 5 yr old son has a chronic wet cough. It started in Sept. In November the pediatrian said he had a sinus infection. The next day he was throwing up and with fever. His office kept telling me to give it 72 hours. I ended going to urgent care. They did an xray and said he had pnemonia. That was 4 months ago. All the other symptoms have gone away but this cough. Doesn't cough at night anymore. It's not like he coughs all the time but when he does it's always wet sounding. No phlem.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
7730563 tn?1393781747 s definitely been worse throughout my pregnancy. I take singulair every night and I have to use my inhaler often. Last week, my doctor gave me Advair, which is an inhaled steroid. She told me that all are safe for the baby!
Avatar f tn PLEASE HELP Let me add that she is NOT in tears because the Singulair has made her depressed, we heard all about that in the news. She is in tears because of the agony she's in because of how BAD her arms and legs feel all the time!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter is on Singulair and just finished a short course of Prednisone. On her 4th day [last day] of Prednisone, her legs and arms started to feel very weak and heavy and numb[she said they felt "thick"].
Avatar f tn There is another new medication called symbicort, that is what I use and I LOVE it. It takes care of all of my chronic asthma conditions and I use an emergency inhaler for when I have a trigger that causes an attack. Check your side effects. I know for a fact that Singulair can cause ear ache and chest infection as well as other annoying side effects because I have had them, I got off of the medication because I didn't see improvement, my friend stayed on it and loves what it does for her.
1831920 tn?1320857757 I suggest you look up some articles on crate training and have your husband read them. We are not talking in humane crating here. He probably has visions if puppy mill dogs. Many of us here are experienced and "humane" dog people. Dogs are basically den animals. All my dogs have usually gone in their crates on their own to nap, my little one is in her crate now. I leave the door open. If your dog is ill or injured, the crate comes in handy.
Avatar f tn I have an appointment in 2 weeks with my primary doctor, but I was prescribed these medications by a different doctor who was filling in... albuterol (the emergency inhaler), Singulair (I take 10mg once every night), and one puff twice a day of Dulera with a chamber (I always rinse afterwards). It seems like a lot of meds. I’ve been on Singulair and albuterol for a few weeks, and I’ve been taking Dulera for about a week now.
