Common Questions and Answers about Singulair for sinusitis

singulair

Avatar f tn I take zyrtec, singulair, flonase and astepro for the allergies and sinus. My ENT is stumped. How can I get my taste and smell back?
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fungal sinusitis and underwent CT Sinus ENTRAK surgery 12/08. Afterward b/c 30 day fungal culture neg.,and pseudomonas found in left maxillary sinus, ENT changed diagnosis. treated w/Cipro, no other f/u for fungal. I told them 3 wks postop that green thick exudate had returned w/smell, but they declared me "cured". ID refused to do another culture b/c ENT said in notes that I looked great. I got 2nd opinion from another ENT week ago.
1135961 tn?1279145314 Thank you very much for your response. I made an appointment with a specailist to see what he says. I think maybe your right about the allergies, because I seem to always get these attacks when Im at home. I vacume everyday , and use a humindifier. Would it help to take claritine ? A friend told me to get a purifier ? Does that help?
Avatar f tn The same thing happened to me, Also have an allergy to Ibuprofen All of the Coxibs like celecoxib and even to ketarolac - as Dr_Veena said they do belong to NSAID group, however currently I'm very cautious in taking any drugs for headaches, different antipyretics like acetominophen and salicylates like aspirin.
Avatar m tn what can i do to make this better ,it is making me weak at times where i cant seem to function right., ive been taking singulair for allergies but nothing works ...
Avatar n tn Im sorry to hear that other folks seem to have the same problem as Ive had for about 9 years now. I was originally diagnoses with acute eosinophilic sinusitis (AES) in 2007, after a year of sinus infections, multiple coarses of broad spectrum antibiotics which ultimately, lead to disbiosis in the gut. (Probiotics are essential) I then had the sinus surgery in 2007, with some relief but finally went to Mayo Clinic, Rochester Mn, for the AES diagnosis.
Avatar f tn ” With “never drainage/congestion/fever” and “never gets congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, etc” and a borderline normal CT scan, the evidence for chronic sinusitis is scant. The American Academy of Otolaryngology (ENT) classifies sinus symptoms as follows: Major: Facial pressure, congestion, nasal obstruction, a runny nose and a reduced sense of smell. And, Minor: Headache, fever, halitosis, fatigue, dental pain, cough and ear pain.
Avatar m tn DO NOT let the ENT put you on antibiotic for anything less than 2 weeks. You need to be on them for a MONTH at least. Otherwise, you wind up not killing all the bugs, and they come back, more resistant to the antibiotic.
Avatar f tn What do you find Singulair did for you? I found that, for me, it did nothing.
Avatar m tn hav been taking singulair for 3 years. Cramps in fingers, throat and leg occured common. Shoulders drooped. Standing and sitting posture gone really bad. Extreme tiredness 24X7. Always thirsty even after gulping bottles of water. Inactive physically and mentally. Become even more inferior in social gatherings and activities. Can't even meet minimum commitments and thus affects career and personal, family relationships. After dropping Everything became normal after 8 - 10 days.
Avatar n tn I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now. Has anyone experienced such long term effects? If so, what can be done if anything?
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
1386655 tn?1452097056 Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Talk to your GP about the other causes for cough, namely sinusitis. In the meantime you could try warm salt water gargles and breathing exercises. Also, have yourself reevaluated for Asthma, to see if its adequately controlled. Short course of steroids are given for severe asthmatic attacks. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have had cronic full time sinus infections for a ng time. Been on antidiotics for 8 months and still not fixed. My balance is no good going down steps n i have to hold something to even get off a chair. This has only been happening since my infections started.
Avatar f tn Although fungus-related sinusitis has been described for at least 2 centuries, a more detailed pathologic description of the problem as it relates to eosinophilic disease was not detailed until 1983, when "allergic fungal sinusitis" was described histopathologically. Until then, most fungal sinus disease was perceived to occur in immunosuppressed diabetic patients with invasive fungus.
Avatar n tn I have multiple issues...oxygen dependent due to pulmonary fibrosis after chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis. I'm on Advair 500/50, Singulair, Allegra, Mucinex and have been stable for over a year. I also have a history of seasonal allergies (life long) and adult onset asthma. Two weeks ago some respiriatory infection set in: don't know if it was a virus intially--it felt that way--scratchy throat, tender glands, ears plugged.
Avatar n tn We are at a loss for ideas and his patience for seeing doctors (and funds for it) is wearing thin. Any suggestions? Ideas? Cures? Thanks!
Avatar m tn 31 M non-smoker, history of nasal allergies, 2.5 years of recurrent acute sinusitis. 4 infections in 6 months, re-ocurring 2-4 weeks after finishing antibiotics. Sore throat Thick yellow post-nasal drip Can’t irrigate maxillary sinuses with Sinus Rinse bottle (Usually it fills the sinuses then drains out when I tilt my head.
Avatar n tn m very allergic to many things), asthma tests w/wo albuteral (positive for exercise induced asthma), many chest x-rays (positive for hyperinflated lungs), Sinus catscan (positive for some chronic damage). During the last 7 months, I've tried sinus rinses, Protonix, Prevacid, Symbacort, 2 different antibiotics, Singulair, Allegra, several steroid injections, various different steroidal nasal sprays. None of these medications have provided ANY relief. I'm at my wits end.
Avatar m tn I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Singulair for a few months now and I haven't noticed any negative side effect. I take it along with a daily inhaler for my asthma and it really has helped me a lot.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair could cause depression & suicide for some people that used it.
Avatar f tn I live with a dog whom I am allergic too and live with my parents because of money reasons and my mother smokes in the house. Anyway, I am getting desperate for a cure/treatment. I am always on antibiotics and currently just got on 21 days of doxycycline. I was just on doxycycline for 10 days a month ago. My doc says I have a nasal polyp and I have ENT appt June 1st. I take advair, abruetoral when asthma may flare, singulair, and rhinocort or flonase when I can get samples.
