singulair

Avatar f tn When I moved to my home I coughed for 2 entire winters. I also have asthma and many allergies. I went to numerous doctors with little results. Its tiring and frustrating. No sleep, sore muscles, feeling hopeless! Can you tell if its in your lungs? Is it more of a tickle in the lung area. Mine was more of a tickle type thing. I did the steroids too with minimal results.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed antibiotics for it, but the cough never went away. I went to a second doctor who said I had allergies and prescribed Singulair and some nasal mist (Afrin and Astilin). I took the medication and it cleared up my congestion, but the cough remained. The cough finally went away for some unknown reason. The congestion and red eyes do not bother me that much; it is the cognitive problems that are really troubling.
Avatar m tn I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
796974 tn?1237688273 You must get an allergy test done, either a skin test or by RAST, to know what you are allergic to. Seasonal allergies are generally due to pollen or dust. Any cosmetic you apply on face or eye or even for your hair like shampoos or dyes too can cause allergies. The palpitations you feel at different places can be tingling sensation due to allergic reaction. Calamine lotions and other over the counter preparations with camphor/menthol do help to reduce the tingling. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Has he actually been tested for food allergies, so you know what to stay away from? Do you have him on any kind of antihistamine? Since his episodes come and go he should also be tested for weed, tree, and grass pollens. It wouldn't hurt to have him see a dermatologist to rule out any other underlying skin problem.
Avatar n tn I take it for allergies. I also have been taking zyrtek along with it because of my allergies being so bad.
Avatar m tn But, now I have stomach pain and a headache. The ragweed is high (53) today. Alternaria mold was not measured but the overall mold count looks high. This is definitely the time of year when the Alternaria is high. I have not been taking Singulair this year at all and have not had a problem until now. Adding that might fix my problems.
Avatar f tn From your message, you appear to have an intolerance to the so-called non-sedating anti-histamines but hopefully will be able to take Singulair; it is a good drug for nasal allergies and also, for a fair number of people, effective treatment for asthma. And it is safe, not a cause of significant liver disease, and not associated with other side effects, deemed serious. To the best of our current knowledge, the long term use of a nasal steroid, as directed, does not pose a problem.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Singulair for a few months now and I haven't noticed any negative side effect. I take it along with a daily inhaler for my asthma and it really has helped me a lot.
Avatar f tn Does any who suffer from mold allergies know what molds are in Mold Mix 1 and Mold Mix 2? I noticed on my allergy test I’m a 3+ for Mold Mix 1 and a 2+ for Mold Mix 2, but it doesn’t specify what those molds are. I called my allergist and was told that I could come in to get the list, but it’s in another city. I really didn’t want to drive there if I didn’t have to. I asked if it could be emailed and I was told no.

Avatar m tn It blocks the activity of undesirable leukotrienes , produced by the body, that cause the symptoms you describe. It is often helpful for the treatment of nasal allergies, its biologic action different than that of antihistamines and inhaled nasal steroids but its actions often complementary to these drugs. It is often effective for the symptoms you describe.

Avatar m tn I work with pulmonary doctor who sees me for asthma and I use Advair 500/50 along with Allegra D and Singulair and I do regular sinus rinses. I was also sent to see a sinus specialist at University of Iowa who removed a large polyp from left Maxillary. I was hoping after the surgery the symptoms would clear. The surgery was completed in 8/2011 and I've had two flare up since that time. I've been tested for allergies 4 times and the only allergen is cut grass.
Avatar f tn I find that just taking medications when needed is not really managing my asthma.
1398713 tn?1282046685 I was then sent to an allergy specialist and she recommended I try Singulair because it controls allergies AND asthma. My allergy test revealed many allergies to environmentals such as grass, dust, mold, cats, trees, pollens, flowers, chemicals, perfumes, latex and some foods. I tried the Singulair in April and that's when all Heck broke loose.
Avatar f tn The first step is to try minimizing your exposure to the substances that trigger your allergies, such as pollen, mold, and animal dander. If that doesn't help, talk to your primary care doctor about medication options.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.

Avatar n tn Hello, You need to go to Home Depot or drug store and get a mold detection kit. Sneak it in the air conditioner vent and let it sit for a day. Read the instructions. Then send it for eval. it is cheap. I had the same problem in my job, govt. old lots of mold. I told them to fix it or I will call OSHA for eval. My eyes would burn, cough and i could hardly breathe there was so much mold. Its all good now, and I Have no more problems.
1135961 tn?1279145314 Thank you very much for your response. I made an appointment with a specailist to see what he says. I think maybe your right about the allergies, because I seem to always get these attacks when Im at home. I vacume everyday , and use a humindifier. Would it help to take claritine ? A friend told me to get a purifier ? Does that help?
Avatar f tn Pure Bleach kills mold, since you are allergic I would make the landlord pay for this. Mold cannot grow without a water source. Are there any leaks? If so they must be repaired if you are still living with this mold and you are allergic to it. Re-infecting yourself on a daily basis. Five medications a day for how long? Was it just to get you well again? If so....I would follow the Doctor's orders when it comes down to not being able to breathe!
Avatar n tn My nose had a bad reaction to the nasal spray the one time I tried it - it became very congested and I was sneezing for an hour. I have been taking Singulair (prescribed by my PMD) for the past week and it has helped a little but not as much as I expected (Still congested at night). Also, I haven't been able to wear my contact lenses for the past 3 weeks. At first it was because of itchy eyes but now they're just very dry.
Avatar f tn The first 3-4 weeks felt like a cold or possible allergies. I went to an allergist and had testing done- tested positive for many allergies and was put on meds. Meds did nothing. I began feeling worse- exhausted, confusion, tremors, horrible cough- coughing up yellowish gunk. Went to my intern and was told it was probably repeated viral infections and he took blood. Blood tests came back normal (neg for mono). Went to a care now on Memorial day and was diagnosed with bronchitis.
