singulair

460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.

Avatar n tn Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician.
Avatar n tn there are many stories of families whose children suffered many behavior problems from taking this medication. i hope this helps you.
Avatar m tn reassure him that his secrets and disclosures and fears are safe with you and that he will be safe and protected no matter what he is feeling or thinking or experiencing right now. irregardless of what he has to say.
Avatar n tn Look it up on the web - there are all new reports that it causes all kinds of problems. My son was on it years ago - and he had a grand mal seizure - and the doctors laughed when I said I thought it caused it. I stopped it - and he never had another one!! Amazing, huh??
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime.
Avatar n tn Since April of 2009, I have been having strange urinary problems. For about 3 weeks, I had increased urinary frequency and urgency, as well as painful urination. This seemed to come with thirst and dry mouth. The frequency and urgency have gone, as well as the increased thirst and dry mouth, but I am still stuck with painful urination. The urine now appears foamy as well. The pain is a burning when urinating, and then I get a lingering pain down what feels like the whole urethral tube.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar f tn He is at a new school, but has similar problems at his old school. They give him time do his work and he will either talk to other or just sit there. He does exhibit this behavior at home sometime while doing homework. He is a quick learner and I don't know if he's bored or if there is a more serious problem going on. At home he also needs alot of redirection. He also occasionally has problems controlling his emotions. He will get upset at simple things like his pants feel funny.
645800 tn?1466860955 Losing thirty pounds and a strict no processed diet has helped. Also Zyrtec allergy pills everyday and Singulair. My insurance will not pay for Singulair at all. Rinsing my sinuses with saline and taking Mucinex. I take a lot of Mucinex this time of year. I used to take Benydrl and Chlortrimeton but they dried me out and impacted the mucus. I now hardly even need my Symbicort much less Albuteral. I used to have to sleep in a recliner. Eating was a bear because of choking.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Allegra-D and Singulair for my allergies. My doctor had prescribed me to Pata-a-Day Eye Drops as well, but they became too expensive and weren't working very well, so i switch to an over the counter brand. My medicine is obviously not working very great either. Does anyone know of an effective treatment that will help me with this? Thanks.
Avatar m tn My daughter has taken singular since she was 3, she's now 19. I'm really worried about long term effects....she's in college now and after a year of sinus problems we've taken her off gluten, dairy, eggs and soy and she is doing much better. Just recently we had trouble getting a renewed rx down to her in school and she's been 'out' of singular for a week.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was diagnosed with acute asthma last year and have been on symbicort/proventil for months, also singulair and took prednisone and methylprenisolone and I am still having breathing problems and chest tightness. taking some HC lately helped me breathe better and relax but still having breathing problems today. can you please help me??
Avatar m tn We reasearched Singulair when our son was first prescribed it and found none of the information now noted in their website. The link to suicide, depression and other behavioral problems and Singulair, although known by the manufacturer and the FDA for several months was not mentioned by either until recently and notices were not sent to all Pharmacists and Dr.s. For me, this experience has shown me that there is no "miracle" drug, and all drugs are just that....drugs.
Avatar f tn I think you posted a long time ago about your son and Singulair. My six year old took Singulair for 2 weeks and develped facial tics, twitches and other odd things. He's now been off for 10 days and we are still seeing it. Neuro appt. this week- so worried. Is your son okay now?
Avatar m tn m suffering from light headaches (in forehead, but exact location differs a lot), post nasal drip (intensity differs) when I swallow and a very low pitched tinnitus. Although I'm not sure when this low tinnitus started and where it came from. I've Always had Pulsatile Tinnitus which is a bit higher pitched and clearly hums on the rhythm of my heart beat, but that one disappears when I lie down, turn my head to the side or push on my neck arteries.
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
Avatar m tn he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils and hallucinations. i finally got the message and discontinued the singulair after researching the drug on the internet. after 3 weeks, he was like a different child. he was happier and healthier. his fears, anxiety and all the other side effects just disappeared. this drug can have devastating effects and be undetected by parents. children are unable to express the way the drug is making them feel.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn After taking it for 3 yrs I realized that it was causing all my problems. In addition to symptoms similar to Churg Strauss, I also have enlarged lymph nodes and problems with my liver. I urge everyone to take the time to report their issues to the FDA so they realize that these side effects aren't as rare as they think. Here's the link: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/medwatch-online.htm. I have been off this drug for 3 wks and feel amazingly better.
Avatar n tn From the time he was three years old he has had behavior problems. I now think they were related to anxiety and aspergers. I have observed at our home if I break his routine or he is annoyed by someone else (usually his step sister), he becomes very agitiated and 'has a melt down'. I suspect that it is aspergers but his step mom keeps telling me it just years years of bad behavior and being allowed to act this way.
Avatar n tn My kids really need that to stay maintained in the behavior department. They have too much energy and if they sit for too long--------- they get to the point of being ready to blow. Your boy also sounds like he needs a transitional warning. Most kids shows run on half hour increments. AT 5 minutes before the show is over-------- say, we are turning off the tv when this program is over.
Avatar f tn I often ask my friend who is a PT Therapist for Down syndrome and also an Aunt of a nephew who has Ds, and I have put together something new for my parent group. It is a modified reward chart, that can help instill good, and acceptable behaviours while also curbing the negative ones that we would all like our children to have. Here is a copy of my information regarding the Reward System: Behaviours are always certainly hard issues to deal with.
