Avatar n tn There is only one interaction that would be of any concern. Treatment with both simvastatin and niacin may result in muscle pain or tenderness or muscle weakness. Using simvastatin together with niacin is usually not recommended, but may be required in some cases. If you are using both medicines together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both of the medicines. I don't know if this is a side effect of the drug I'm taking 40mg a day but feel really achy will this pass .

Avatar m tn Effective in June 2011 the FDA recommends limiting the dose of simvastatin to a maximum dose of 40 mg, with the exception of patients already taking simvastatin 80 mg daily for a period of greater than 12 months who have not developed any myalgia side effects. The FDA make this restriction because at the highest dose of simvastatin 80 mg daily the incidence of serious myopathy was higher than using other available statins.

If it's better for me to change to Simvastatin (Zocor, Vytorin), I'm all for it, but want to know if there's evidence out there. Avatar m tn But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter. Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act? There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time. Thanks for your responses!
Avatar m tn Theoretically, in some patients wouldn't this dramatically increase that patient's chance of clearing HBsAG if used with NUC's? If so, then Alinia, perhaps after years of use, might give some people a chance to get rid of the HBV virus and attain immunity. Or do I have this wrong?
