I have been taking Atorvastin calcium 10 mg tablets(Brand Name is Storvas 10 mg) since 3 months for bringing LDL under control. Please advise if simvastatin 10 mg(brand name : Zosta -10) also has the same effect as Storvas 10 mg. I have had cholecystectomy about 5 years back.
However i am now on lots of tablets each day to prevent another clot forming. so i was just wondering, my levels of troponin were at 0.61.... what is the normal level? and is this reading considered high on the scale of things?

He said about the amount of tablets i was on and changed two of them for a cheaper version,I was on lansoprazole gastro tabs he then changed them for omeprazole as they were cheaper also i was on atorvastatin he changed me to simvastatin .
Can someone explain what, if any, evidence there for a switch from simvastatin to pravastatin? My husband's doctor said there is new evidence that simvastatin may be detrimental. Unfortunately, my husband did not quiz him further. He already has one stent in a narrow back artery but he has brought his cholesterol down considerably with the statins.

I have been taking simvastatin for three weeks since having a Tia but have also had a flu like cold for ten days , I am still having aching flu like pains which I would have thought would have passed by now . I don't know if this is a side effect of the drug I'm taking 40mg a day but feel really achy will this pass .

My Cholesterol level is apparently 7.9 but my doctor never told me if this is HDL, LDL or the total of both but even so, it is still too high!
Well, it turn out I am now on Betta blocker 10g 3 times a day to get my heart rate down. Cholesterol ,thyroid and anxiety tablets I was told to take this for three months and then to leave it to see what happens. Well it just got worse after I left the tablets. Even the betta block sometimes does not help to get my heart rate down. Now they want to give me iodine radiation to kill off the thyroid on Wednesday.
Usually diet and exercise is the best first place to start, but with an LDL this high I would probably recommend starting a cholesterol lowering medication as well, such as a statin (e.g. atorvastatin, simvastatin). All medications have potential side effects, but the statins are relatively well tolerated by most people and your doctor should be watching for any dangerous side effects (which are rare).
